    My 02 Trailblazer has this G80 differential. It's awesome. Thanks for the video.

    Aug of '22 Picked up an '03 Tahoe 4x4 for $2,500! Yeah it's got 200k miles but it's a beast!
    Looking for a '00-'06 Suburban/Yukon/Tahoe for a parts truck.
    I'm going to make that Tahoe last another 20 years!

      I have a 02 Silverado I bought new that's still going with 600,000 miles, although I'm on my third transmission. Just bought an 01 Silverado with 238,000 for $1400 in great condition and a 01 Suburban LT with 250,000. Great vehicles.

    Wish it was just standard instead of an option. Love it on my 04 Colorado. Just bought an 08 Sierra and it sucks in snow and mud by comparison.

    Is an automatic differential lock? Because was activated during the car movement.

    Why the fuck GM would even install an open diff in a truck with an off road package baffles me🤦‍♂️😅. Luckily my Z71 came factory with G80 and 3.73:1 gear ratio😎.

    it was embarrassing, then I Lincoln Locked the rear diff and threw on a set of mud grips

    So glad I got rid of my g80 bomb. Replaced it with the trac rite.

    • @SD-pi9co
      @SD-pi9co 2 года назад +5

      Why? My G80 is still going strong after 25 years and 250,000 miles. I use it to get me through old logging roads and I wouldn't give it up for anything Dodge or Ford offers.

    • @Meanttobeez
      @Meanttobeez 2 года назад +3

      @@SD-pi9co the main reason why I don’t like them is because when it does engage, it shock loads everything. I replaced mine after 280k, teeth were stripped out in multiple locations. Yes I have a lot of miles on mine. However, seeing as how teeth were stripped and broken off. That means it was going around in my diff and bearings etc. I replaced it with the factory aam trac rite. I am a diesel application so my axle is the 11.5 aam. I believe that to be a much better design as it operates much smoother and nothing to shock load. The idea for the g80 is great. I just feel like the design could have been done better so it’s less likely to break those little tiny teeth on something with a large rotating mass.

    • @SD-pi9co
      @SD-pi9co 2 года назад +2

      @@Meanttobeez I've only ever heard of them failing when abused. Nothing lasts forever, if you got 280k out of yours I'd say it did its job.

    • @Meanttobeez
      @Meanttobeez 2 года назад +1

      @@SD-pi9co oh I understand completely! Mine wasn’t abused which is probably why I got so many miles out of it. I see them fail quite often. And again , it’s not so much they just come flying apart. The little teeth strip out and then it just gets worse and worse from there. To each their own and they all have an application for use. And again it’s just my opinion, and my opinion was to go another route for my application. If they work great for you, then I say use them! 👍
