And btw it has MANY Filler, even more as Naruto, which Anime is popular for the many Filler Episodes.
Filler Episodes aren't canon and they don't bring the story forward.
But why do they make them then?
Because the Anime always has to stay behind the script: the Manga.
Since Gosho Aoyama - the author - often takes breaks the Studio has to use more Filler Episodes.
Of Detective Conan 41% are Filler Episodes, you can skip all of them.
If you don't know anything about Detective Conan, better keep your mouth shut.

@@collinisrollininhisgrave7897 Well everyone has their own taste and not everybody likes long series. I personally love to watch a series over years. I also watch One Piece and Naruto (which came to an end last year tho) and even though they're long I really have fun watching them.
I watched One Piece and Detective Conan in my childhood anyway so I knew most of the things already. Most of the people in the fandom know it from their childhood too, it's a classic anime after all.
I can understand that people are scared of the many episodes but it doesn't give you the right to talk bad about it.
Detective Conan comes always up with new secrets none like the other and they make you want to keep watching to see the secret revealed and heck I'm not talking about random cases (which are indeed nice as well) but also about the mainstory so everything about the black organization etc. If you don't watch it you can't know about what Detective Conan makes an amazing show so don't judge just because of the episodes. They don't make it boring or something like that at all.

Detective conan's name is inspired from the british author of sherlock holmes "Arthur CONAN doyle" his last name is edogawa and is inspired from the author "Edogawa Ranpo" who is a mystery genre writer back in the day.
And "Edogawa Ranpo" was, itself, a pen-name that author made by converting "Edgar Allan Poe" into katakana.

Detective conan was what got me into anime. I remember when they use to play it on adult swim. Best detective show period. Got me into Sherlock Holmes, classical music, castles, 1888 Victorian london and other mysteries. Truly a genius anime

No disrespect to the marvel that is Case Closed, and Detective Conan, but O'Brien is absolutely more in the public eye than the manga and anime, both nationally and internationally.
Conan worked as a writer and producer on The Simpsons, one of the most successful and popular television shows of all time, for two seasons. Then he took over Letterman's (a host comparable to the giant that is Jay Leno) spot on Late Night, and built it up over several years to become the Talk Show paragon he is now. That's a substantial pedigree, which trumps Aoyama's work.

super popular in germany, at least in the mid 2000s. BUT a major tv station recently announced that, finally, more episodes will be translated and aired soon. we only got up to episode 309... but all the movies, strangely xD
and who can blame Americans for not liking their absolutely awful English dub where they freaking tried to make it seem like the characters are american... and live in America... while it's clearly set in Tokyo.

Here in Canada and I tried the same thing. The first 20 images were of Detective Conan and Conan the Barbarian.

If you call it animation, it's acceptable and makes sense. But calling Detective Conan a CARTOON, it's very annoying. Fyi, cartoon is one of the style in animation, just like anime. So, basically cartoon and anime are different.

Cartoon in the broader sense of the term refers to an image or series of them with a less-than-realistic style.
