I'll say this while I’m all for expanding the playoff even though I feel like 12 teams is excessive because it’s half the ranked teams getting in no matter how many spots there are there’s all always going to be controversy.
I think ANY CFB playoff mock-up, or even the final seedings, will be a complete farce because I predict that this whole CFB Playoff thing will fail spectacularly. The ONLY people in favor of it are the fans, the TV networks, and the schools with good TV contracts. The fans have long wanted it because all previous ways of determining a national championship have been based solely or largely on the polls that fans don't get to vote in. The networks and schools have recently started wanting it because of the money they can get from extra games. But NOBODY on the field wants it. The coaches don't want it because it makes it harder for them to keep their jobs. Just being in the top 10 and winning a decent bowl game is no longer enough. Also, an extended post-season cuts into time they used to have for recruiting, upon which also their jobs depend. And the players don't want it, either. It was already hard enough to get players to show up for even 1 bowl game. Now it's a minimum of 3, max of 4 (or 5 if you have a conference championship game, too), to win it all. And for what? None of the kids these days care about their school or winning championships. They're all transfer portal mercenaries looking only to maximize their NIL money in college while developing their skills to maximize their NFL draft position and thus future salary. The last thing they want to do is get hurt and the more games they play in, the more likely that is. Winning a championship might enhance NIL money next year but that's only a consideration for underclassmen who plan to play at least 1 more year in college. Most starters will be heading to the draft next spring so have no reason whatsoever (other than possible terms in their NIL contracts) to risk their personal futures for the selfish interests of their schools and their fans. Especially if, being mercenaries, they feel no attachment to either group. So what I predict will happen is this.... Those bound for the NFL at the end of this season, which will include most of the players who got their teams into the playoffs to begin with, will opt out of playing in the playoff games. As such, the playoff games will all be the same sad jokes that bowl games have become. In the name brand schools, It'll all be freshmen and sophomore backups whom we've never seen play that much if at all. As such, seeding teams based on in-season performance will bear no relation to the teams actually on the field in the playoff games. This will put the "Group of 5" representative in an advantageous position because it will likely still have most of its starters. Why? Because they don't get nearly as much exposure as the guys in the big conferences, so the risk / reward equation is different for them. If they were elite players, they'd be at a name brand school. But they're not, so they need to shift the tape balance in their favor. And what better way than leading an underdog to a natty against all the name brands, even if those name brands are skeletons of what earned them the playoff berth. Anyway, until I see how this 1st-ever true CFB playoff works out in practice, consider me totally cynical about it, and not caring about it whatsoever, because I expect it rapidly to become a farce. So we should all take a deep breath, hold our noses, and go back to just the AP poll to decide championships based on the regular season's results, because that's as close to the best result as we'll ever get in the NIL / transfer portal world of today.
All mumbai jjmbai, this isnt even competition, they are all compared on other peoples previous result. Let them all meet in an playoff tree and let the best team win… Like normal people

I am the very best head coach in the world and I do not screw people over by losing Tell me when I telling lies.
Colorado will win out. Go to the Big 12 Conference Championship Game in Dallas. Win there shock the world. And then go and get selected to the CFB Playoffs.

Please stop give Tone these long periods of talking he sounds like a 3rd grader reading a book in front
Of the whole class.
All mumbai jjmbai, this isnt even competition, they are all compared on other peoples previous result. Let them all meet in an playoff tree and let the best team win… Like normal people
Tone, no no buddy
How is notre dame ranked lol😂
Simple - they’re 7-1 with the largest margin of victory average in the entire FBS since their loss in week two, with wins over three ranked teams, and their defense ranks in the top 10 in multiple categories They’re absolutely demolishing everyone in front of them. The committee doesn’t get hung up on one loss from the beginning of the season.
My playoff format gets 24 teams in and is perfect as I've been working on it for over a decade. Not sure what to do about it.
Post it
We don’t need 24 teams in the playoff though..
24 teams is too much imo. I think 12 is perfect, 16 could work but might be stretching it
Nah. 8 teams is the perfect playoff number
South Carolina could beat teams 15-25 imo.
Byu does not deserve crap.
They will let you down by losing because they have awful head coaches in all 5 major college sports. Football Men's basketball Women's basketball Baseball Softball.
I can promise you that BYU will never win another national championship in these 5 sports until they believe in God and do what is right. And bring the best head coach in the world. For all 5 sports.
I am the very best head coach in the world and I do not screw people over by losing
Tell me when I telling lies.
We need 16 teams
It should be 8
Colorado will win out. Go to the Big 12 Conference Championship Game in Dallas. Win there shock the world. And then go and get selected to the CFB Playoffs.
Ohio State has played like Garbage the last 3 weeks, lost one to Nebraska and only won the next 2 games but a touchdown or less so please tell me what they've done and who they've played that they are #2? OSU gets ranked every year on their PLAYERS and not their PLAY which is a joke.
Nebraska? It was oregon
@jimbo0386 ok sorry they almost lost to Nebraska and Penn State is that better?
Indiana would beat Miami, Tennessee, BYU, Penn State, Texas none of those teams are nice like that
If Ole Miss beats Georgia, they deserve to be in
Notre dame should not be in
I’m a Bama fan and we don’t need to be in it this year, if we won a bowl game I’d be ecstatic. Not hating on the Tide, with all of the changes and it’s been a chaotic season across all of CFB, if we played USC or something in the Radio Shack bowl I’d be content; then we’ll see how we look next season
Definition of a privileged naive fan 😂
Fans like you want kalen fired for not winning a national championship like they aren’t replacing an entire secondary and 25 other transfers😂
Who’s even set to be your guys QB next year once Milroe is gone?
thank god no one asked for your opinion
Never said I thought Debeor was a bad hire, not sure what your sources are; dude is the real deal, we just look discombobulated this season
The "my strength of schedule is pathetic but that shouldn't matter" argument is one of the reasons i dont like college football.
The rejoinder to you can only play your schedule is schools have a say in who they play. If you have a cupcake schedule, don't complain when you don't get a CFP invite.
Norte Dame shouldn’t be in this. It should be conference teams only
Does them not being in a conference change who they've beaten and how? It makes no sense to let a worse team take the spot just because they're in a conference
GBO
3 loss sec teams are better than undefeated acc and big 12 teams
ALOT of people including them, don’t understand the CFP format.. BYU or ISU will be number 4 cause of conference championship
Keep thinking that and watch BSU get the bye over a one-loss Big 12 champion 😂
@ a GO5 over a one lose P4 champion? lmao BSU beats up on hawaii and san jose state bro..
I hate college football, wish it would disappear from the show
Said no one ever
Fortunately watching is optional…
They keep expanding the playoffs just so they can keep jamming ND in
When has Notre dame ever been in the playoffs?
@@Mikeytebowtwice, do you follow college football? Like at all?
Notre Dame has been one of the top 10 teams in the nation for almost a decade now. Now they just have to finish the job
@@danielkelley2784 they never finish the job
@@AlanHinson What has Notre Dame done in the past 10 years?? making the playoffs twice doesn’t sound like they are expanding “so they can keep jamming ND in”
Play a weak schedule you should be penalized. Today Ohio State has played 2 top 5 teams Indiana 0, They have to beat Ohio State to get more respect.
SMU is undefeated and Notre Dame lost at home to Norther Illinois
it not about respect its about pedigree/bias
SMU isn't undefeated. They lost to BYU who is unbeaten.
@ so why tennesse and penn state ahead of undefeateds
I mean one of your top 5 teams has an even weaker schedule than Indiana....... So what does that tell you about your own ranking system you apparently believe in?
@@MattBuild4 do we play games to win or lose?
its not indiana’s fault they make schedules years in advance
my rankings tells me that they should make schedules year to year like the nfl
Indiana doesnt deserve to be up there. Strength of Schedule. Yes you play your schedule but when your schedule is soup can, soup can, soup can 9 in a row then you should be happy for 8. Once they play some good teams we can talk.
And they beat the absolute crap out of all of them. Comparison: Ohio state vs Nebraska
Indiana vs Nebraska.
Anybody in the big ten vs Michigan state
Indiana vs Michigan state.
List goes on.
One team won by a lot more. That doesn’t count?
I would say majority of IU fans get that but what were trying to say is if you took the IU brand off this team and put OSU or Alabama brand on this team then they would be top 5 or top 3 and no one would say anything about there schedule.
Might want to compare last years’ Michigan before you hold that position…
Not only that but these teams choose who they play out of conference- they can choose good teams or soup cans. IU chose soup cans
@@jcboyd55the Michigan team that beat Alabama and Ohio state and 13th ranked penn state and 24th ranked Iowa that then went on to beat second ranked Washington to win the CFP? Not sure how that’s comparable at all.
The school for the blind could run indiana's schedule. Sos is worst in fbs.
Because Indy chose their schedule 😂
@darylhenry9595 they do chose their non conference games. Fiu, Charlotte, western illinois. I agree it's not indianas fault the big ten sucks outside of the top 2/3 teams though.
BYU #4? lmao
They have more Top 25 wins than 4 teams above them
college? who cares
People who actually went to college
Better than the nfl, or any pro sport for that matter.
@@rr1046the NFL is a far superior product than CFB. It’s the top 1% of the sport. With that being said, guys comment sucks. CFB is still awesome.
who cares about college.. literally commercial hell.
