Romania is a breathtakingly beautiful country.
Ceaucescu did not start to go off the rails until his visits to mainland China and North Korea in the mid 1970's. It was there that he saw the leaders of those two nations (Mao Zedong and Kim Il Sung) being absolutely worshipped by their people and he desired to emulate that in Romania thereafter.
In hindsight, this was a brilliant move by Richard Nixon to establish a relationship with Romania. By doing so, he developed a linkage with a moderate communist and thus gained a foothold towards getting a better understanding of the Warsaw Pact and possibly China as well.
I'm Romanian! 🇷🇴!
Me too

@@Pantera1001 haha in my suggestions or I searched for it.
1969. When the American president was calling Romania a socialist country. After years ,socialism became dictatorship , for Americans.
In our days does not take too long for the American authorities to change their mind. In a few days "rocket man" became a very smart negotiator. ..
Da a fost foarte bine pentru America si Romania
