A mí también me gustaba ésta época del Miss Universo, sobre todo esta sección en que aparecían las hermanitas, le daba ese toque de ingenuidad, casi de cuentos de hadas, ademas del glamour que tenía el concurso.....eran otros tiempos!
Esta es la época dorada del Miss Universe. Me gustaba la participación de THE LITTLE SISTERS in the Evening Gown Competition y la canción en especial " WHEN YOU WISH UPON STAR" I liked so much.
Mona looks like she is dressed for a PTA meeting. Moreover, her head was bobbing --up and down--like a bobble head. She may go down as one of the most UNREMARKABLE winners in the history of the Miss Universe Pagaent. Miss USA, or Miss Colombia, were more deserving winners in 1990/
India was really elegant.....she was really underrated......suzan would have won the crown, if she was in the top 5....i am sure about it, see her, interview comp...u will agree with me.....

Just one question: Why did Miss Universe have 12 judges? Was this like the toughest beauty pageant on earth during the early 90s or what? I just don't understand why some of the contestants were underrated and under-scored. Miss India was so deserving.
I don`t know what is wrong with Venezuela`s Gown, this has been one of the most stunning and gorgeous gown I have seen in Miss Universe pageants, the perfect one for a crowned queen, I think the problem here were the judges this year. India and Venezuela should have been higher in this evening gown round. My top 3 in this gown round are Chile, Colombia & Venezuela.
Tambien hay que mencionar a la hermosa Renata Ruiz (creo que asi se llama) la mujer que represneto a Chile en 2005 quien fue gran favorita y era despampanante, tambien recuerdo que en 1995 enviaron una gran candidata pero que no mostro mayor interes en el concurso y en los 50's y 60's tambien hibo buenos resultados para el pais austral lastima que ya no hay tanto interes alli por los reinados sobre todo teniendo en cuenta la bella candidata que gano el Miss Earth,.
Andrés Mauricio Renata Ruiz era guapa pero nunca fue favorita en el 2005. Se dice además (no me consta) que tuvo mala actitud en el concurso. Ese año las favoritas fueron siempre Pto Rico, Venezuela y Rep Dominicana (que por lo demás tenía un look parecido al de la chilena. Saludos.. :)
sin duda los años 85,86 87 89 y 90 fueron los años dorados para el miss chile,enviaron a lo mejor de lo mejor , mujeres con clase , inteligentes , elegantes,con porte y muy preparadas, que no se logro ganar a excepcion del 87 , pero destacaron por su belleza integral sobretodo naturales 100% , tampoco hay que olvidar el año 76 , 78 y 2004 con la espectacular gabriela barros,lastima que hoy ya nadie se interese por enviar buenas candidatas al miss universe
Liseth Mahecha lució radiante en su bellísimo vestido negro me parece adelantado para la época y su carita de muñeca, fue la mejor de las diez en traje de gala, era la contundente ganadora; la boliviana aplicaba para top seis; la chilena realmente rara, extraña su tipo no logro comprenderlo, Mexico y Venezuela sobraban en ese top.
honestamente, los mejores vestidos fueron los de: Colombia, mexico y usa, ademas eran las mas fuertes, sobre todo la colombiana y la gringa, la corona debió quedar entre ellas dos. la verdad pienso que las chicas de Bolivia y tarquia, daban la talla para llegar mas lejos, ademas la chilena tenia un encanto especial al igual que la miss india, creo que si a miss checoslovaquia (república checa), la hubiesen asesorado o arreglado mejor, llegaba mas lejos, Venezuela como siempre destaca ble. sin embargo, aunque el vestido de noruega era bonito al igual que su representante, no se como se gano miss universo, aparte de eso no era muy impactante, de verdad no se que paso aparte de eso no era una chica tan brillante, a pesar de todo me parecen que esos concursos eran mas presentables y mejores de lo que hoy en día es miss universo, valían la pena vérselos.
Norway is cute and sweet but sometimes she looked so simple her personality is not very appealing Miss USA had a great achievement when she beacame the first afroamerican woman to represent her country but she is not a breathtaking ebony goodess Colombia Mexico and Chile did an amaznig job and I must say that Bolivia had it all to win great stage presence hot body and intelligence she could have been a great winner but her final answer although honest was very rude to other girls

I remember this like it was yesterday. I was in the 11th grade when this pageant was held. I was astonished that Miss USA did not win. Sure, Miss Norway was great, but Miss USA was so beautiful, poised, and radiant. She was an incredibly wonderful person. I remember when she won Miss USA as Miss Michigan. She was the first African American to become Miss USA. Our country was proud of her as our representative and I am sure she has gone on to great things since this pageant.

Fue un Miss Universo pavisoso. La ganadora era bella, pero gélida, su traje de noche horroroso. México y Colombia eran las mejorcitas, especialmente la colombiana. Miss Venezuela clasificó por inercia, a nadie le gustó cuando ganó el Miss Venezuela. La chica de India no supo modelar su vestido de noche y la de Turquía caminó como un minero asturiano.
es problema de miss venezuela fue que su cara era muy gruesa si se dan cuenta si su cara hubiera sido acomodada al top 6 i dejen a urania ella no es un travesti lo que pasa es que ella tiene rasgos griegos i chilenos por eso lo engrosado de su cara pero un vestido muy elegante i aun se mantiene igual adios

The girl from Norway I didn´t like a bit. On top of everything the hair, she forgot to brush it. Graceless, Miss USA and Miss Colombia, waaaaaaaay much better.
I thought Chile, and India were gorgeous and underscored. I would have given at least 9's to both. And this was a year I would have given the crown to the USA, and I usually wouldn't. I mean Carole Gist Stammler still looks stunning, and it's 20 years later. Never did quite see what the big deal was over Norway. She was pretty, but the gown was nothing to write home about.
Take a look how judge "F" qualifies Bolivia and the rest at swimsuit comp. Non sense giving a 7 (the lowest)to Venezuela who was really stunning and 9.9 to Bolivia. I understand that taste may vary from 1 person to another, but that was an obvious favoritism. Was it a bad election of judges? Or did they (organizers) tried to experiment that year having a different type of election by choosing girls that normally wouldnt qualify?

Mis apreciaciones una por una: India: Parecía envoltorio de caramelo Colombia: La mejor vestida. México: Solo le faltaba el canasto. Turquía: Utilizó las cortinas de la abuelita en Estambul. Chile: El único travesti que ha clasificado en la historia de M.U. Bolivia: El traje se lo diseñó Evo Morales cuando aún no sabía qué hacer en la vida. Checoslovaquia: Esa pobre hasta desfiló con pena de lo fea que estaba. La peor de las diez. Venezuela: parecía una máquina de refrescos. Solo le faltaban las mangueras. USA: Bonita. Noruega: Muy simple, vestido feo y le faltó pasar por el odontólogo para que le corrigiera el diente que tenía montado sobre otro.

Agree, she looked like a doughty house wife. But she aged like fine wine, her styling improved during her reign. Her final walk look was incredible.

es problema de miss venezuela fue que su cara era muy gruesa si se dan cuenta si su cara hubiera sido acomodada al top 6
i dejen a urania ella no es un travesti lo que pasa es que ella tiene rasgos griegos i chilenos por eso lo engrosado de su cara pero un vestido muy elegante i aun se mantiene igual adios

Que trajes de noche tan horrendos. Este Miss Universo fue totalmente gris. La noruega lucio un traje espantoso y Venezuela sencillamente, aparatoso.

Andrés Mauricio si a mi también se me hizo raro que la boliviana no llegara más lejos, me parecía bellísima. Lastima fue una buena y creo que única oportunidad para Bolivia de ganar ese concurso. Ella, Colombia y Chile eran lo único rescatable de la noche, aunque la de la India también me parecía linda. Saludos

The girl from Norway I didn´t like a bit. On top of everything the hair, she forgot to brush it. Graceless, Miss USA and Miss Colombia, waaaaaaaay much better.

I thought Chile, and India were gorgeous and underscored. I would have given at least 9's to both. And this was a year I would have given the crown to the USA, and I usually wouldn't. I mean Carole Gist Stammler still looks stunning, and it's 20 years later. Never did quite see what the big deal was over Norway. She was pretty, but the gown was nothing to write home about.
It was clearly a bad decision and I suspect race might have played a role. USA was much better but life happens.
Take a look how judge "F" qualifies Bolivia and the rest at swimsuit comp. Non sense giving a 7 (the lowest)to Venezuela who was really stunning and 9.9 to Bolivia. I understand that taste may vary from 1 person to another, but that was an obvious favoritism. Was it a bad election of judges? Or did they (organizers) tried to experiment that year having a different type of election by choosing girls that normally wouldnt qualify?

Creo que este fue el Miss Universo con las candidatas más feas de toda la historia. Salvando USA y Colombia. De resto... Mis apreciaciones una por una:
India: Parecía envoltorio de caramelo
Colombia: La mejor vestida.
México: Solo le faltaba el canasto.
Turquía: Utilizó las cortinas de la abuelita en Estambul.
Chile: El único travesti que ha clasificado en la historia de M.U.
Bolivia: El traje se lo diseñó Evo Morales cuando aún no sabía qué hacer en la vida.
Checoslovaquia: Esa pobre hasta desfiló con pena de lo fea que estaba. La peor de las diez.
Venezuela: parecía una máquina de refrescos. Solo le faltaban las mangueras.
USA: Bonita.
Noruega: Muy simple, vestido feo y le faltó pasar por el odontólogo para que le corrigiera el diente que tenía montado sobre otro.
