I just tor down my gearbox today. The bearing are fine. The bottom seal was packed with whatever found it way into it..i will be ordering new LSOT00133 after this post. thanks for your efforts. really helped
Thanks for sharing. Be aware that adding or removing gaskets of varying thickness will affect the mesh between the gears resulting in a change in the root gap and backlash, which may take it out of spec.
very good video I have this exact same gear box and even same color. however the vertical shaft will not release and come out of the housing. do you have to remove the horizional shaft first which dosent appear so in the video.
Greetings, I accidentally came across you video and I want to thank you for taking your time to post it. I have a question for you. My uncle is a farmer and he has almost identical New Idea No. 452 brush hog. His problem: two gears inside the gearbox are all torn up, pretty much destroyed. Everything else seems to be in great condition. Do you happen to know or have an idea where we could procure the replacement gears? I spent 3 days searching the internet and practically zero leads. It seems that New Idea Farm Equipment has shutdown in 1999, and many of its products are now collector's items. Thanks for any info you may have.

The vertical can come out of bottom itself. It's pressed in
220 in u can see how I removed it
can also stuff bread down in there and hammer to get bearings out. works great
Yes a classic one. My stale bread goes to the pigs though lol
whole wheat, white or honey wheat?

Oh man..there are random Farm sites that still had parts. It might be easier to find a used gear box on eBay or something
Tractor supply or agri supply etc.sells new boxes for $200-250 ymmv.
