I think football is a funny game and I think so far even playing poor with key people out of position last Euro's semi-finalists couldn't beat us trying their hardest. We haven't got out of first gear yet while every other team is running around full throttle even though the tournament has a whole extra round now. Obviously there needs to be a few changes but the reaction from most people has been equal to that of a spoiled brat child unhappy their parents only got them 4 out of the 5 members of Steps for their birthday party. It's early days and fans aren't owed anything. We will top the group and move on. Calm down.

English football culture is way too conservative and defensive. They prefer directness over possession, they prefer athleticism and physicality over skills, creativity, teamwork and technicality. They believe that football is a simple game, and they believe in passion, mentality and character. Whereas other nations believe in the complexity of tactics. They believe in game plans that are methodical. They love possession and attacking football. They believe that winning 5-3 is better than winning 1-0.
Football is simple. If your team looses the ball in its own 3rd often its a very bad team. If your team looses the ball in the middle 3rd often its a average team. If your team looses the ball in the opposition 3rd more often then any other 3rd then you are a good team. Southgates Football is so slow, negative, sideways and just so rancid its ridiculously hard to just progress the ball out of their own 3rd. If everyone comes deep to receive the ball how do you progress the ball forward? Southgate is a criminal for failing this bad, with these players. Also experimenting at a major tournament when every other game outside of the tournament is for experiments is a sackable offence in its self.
Best teams are the teams with slow tempo and lots of sideways/backwards passes. 09-12 Barcelona and 17-20 ManCity. If everyone comes deep, then you slowly progress the ball with the numerical advantage you have. England problem is too rush, too direct and too conservative and defensive.
