Great work!! I have a similar bin setup that is thriving. My daughter loves to "feed the worms" and has to find one to pick up every time. I'm going to have to try you trick of feeding one side at a time. Seems like it would make it much easier to sort out the worms when harvesting the compost.
I use foam boxes you can get from the fish market when they have deliveries once a week. Vegetable markets also. They sell them so cheap they're pretty much giving them away. I live in south australia it gets pretty damn hot here in summer and pretty cold in winter too but they go well all year round. Plus the lids fit really snug the slugs can't get in! 😉
Hey I just planted some seeds is it too laye If I want to grow some peppers? I got really motivated and excited watching your videos. I live in Bulgaria it is much hotter than the UK. Now its 18-28°C in summer its gets to 30-40°C and its 20+ till late October. Do my plants have a chance? I planted some Halapenos, Habaneros, Trinidad Moruga Yellow, and some chillies( thats what the girl told me, they look like piri-piries to me). All 3 but the halapenos seeds I got from actual peppers that I dried.
Hi Antoan, you should be fine planting now. I would use smaller final pots though so you actually get some peppers. If your pots are too big then the pepper plant will spend too long developing roots and you may now get much of a harvest!
@@ChilliChump Thank you! I will be growing some on the balcony but most of the plants I will send to my parents they have a big garden and a green house.
Only problem i had was Condensation The plastic tub keep sweating so i put hole in the bottom to drain. put a cloth over the hole, to keep the baby worms inside. It worked > and to> THAT WORM CASTING TEA already made
This is something I def need to start doing. I've started a mix off and will leave it for a week or so while I source some worms. Do you have any recommendations from where to get a starter pack of worms from in the UK and how many would I need to start an 80 to 100 litre bin with?
I started with a bag of about half a pound of worms. Got them from Yorkshire Worms. If you were near Bedfordshire I would be happy to give you some of mine
This winter was really cold. Some parts of my bins did freeze, but I think the nitrogen content of the used coffee grounds help keep parts of the bins a little warmer by composting down.
Hi Sarah, have a look at my sauce videos...in particular the ones where I ferment the sauce. Those sauces last for years! I have got a video on pickling Jalapenos...but not yet for vegetables. I will be doing that in the future though. The pickle mix I used for the peppers should be a good start though for vegetables though!
Where did you source your worms btw?... I'm in the UK too and am assuming they're compost earthworms rather than 'bog-standard' soil earthworms (lob etc). Kind Regards, Mark.
Hey Mark, yeah they are proper vermicomposting worms (mine are a mix of red wigglers and european night crawlers). I believe I got my original batch from Yorkshire Worms. I started with about 250g (half a pound) of worms....and all the ones you see in my videos are from that original batch! I reckon I have a good 10 to 20kg of worms now
what do you guys think should be the minimal size of my chillies atm, to get at least something of it? without useing a greenhouse, and in your average german/british climate? they are only 1-5 cm atm
so you planted seeds 21 days ago? That would mean at least 7 days for germination. Which leaves 14 days to get to 1-5cm. You are doing ok. They will start growing quick soon....just make sure they have some good light, and warmth.
That bin was getting a little moist, and there were lots of fruit flies flying about, so I covered over with the cardboard to soak up some of the moisture, and get rid of some of the fruit flies.
Old bathtubs make great worm farms I have two running.
your every video is a holiday for me
I think i am going to start my own worm bin now. Thank you.
Worms are looking fantastic matey, I need to harvest my casting as well, its very handy stuff

That's cute! I tried getting my young nephew interested, but no luck.
Feeding one side only at a time really helps the harvesting!
Awesome vid, thanks mate bonza.
Awesome stuff brother!!!!
Great video mate. They are looking good.

That's a good idea. Would keep them insulated nicely (from cold and heat)
Looking great cheers 🍻
Do you have a video on how you started these bins? Link?
Rob Ruiz he has a few, just subscribe and look through his list of worms
Hi Rob, check out this playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLuQ_ySnkV1el2rmGJ1kJlXyG3Ln0HvHlr
...great.... now I need a worm bin. About to search your channel for a how to haha. If not... I will find one somewhere in the wormhole of RUclips!
Hey Brandon. I have a whole playlist on my worms...including how to start a bin: ruclips.net/p/PLuQ_ySnkV1el2rmGJ1kJlXyG3Ln0HvHlr
Great vid! Time for me to start a worm farm.
Ideal for fishing 😃
Never thought on growing worms but in case I move from a flat to a house I may consider doing this. Great video though :)

I'm in Northern minnesota. Where are you? If I know where you were, I would know how cold it was in the winter time there.
We are in the UK. Not going to be as cold as you. But we do get into freezing temperatures

@@ChilliChump Thanks for the offer and recommendation, I'm not that far away in Lincolnshire but probably easier to just order some :)
how cold does it get in your winter? the bins don't freeze up?

Freezing helps break the food down. So things like carrots and potatoes dont stay in the bin so long.
How do I make chilli sauce but that last for few months..also gow do you do veggy pickles. Would love to hear from you.

That really depends when you started them....how old are the seedlings?

is there a reason why the one you bought have a big piece of cardboard on top and not your other 2

Did the livestream get postponed? I thought it was today?
Hi Jordy, unfortunately I had to postpone to next Sunday: ruclips.net/video/-lCuv3_Os6k/видео.html
Chilli for goats
You're using worms to grow chillies, and that's pretty much the one organic thing they don't eat 😂
