This is why it's so important to audit these stations and identifying the clueless tyrants.
Detained for taking a photo of the inside of a car? Detained for being suspicious?
These muppets need to be demoted or retrained on the basic freedoms enjoyed by anyone in the UK.
A formal complaint needs to be made.

It's the inspector who has to give the grounds. Which constable actually carries out the search is immaterial. But they can't state that they have the reasonable grounds. what an absolute tyrant. The standards agency for the police really need to investigate some of our police force. The disconnect is growing between us because of incidents like this.

    LEGALS
Dubious grounds for a search at best. "Thought" he might be breaking in. Became weaker when "phone was put up to a key" 🤣🤣🤣 M'Lud I saw him raise his phone towards the door.
Needs paper work and PPE... not required for a search. 🤣🤣🤣
"We're being polite" ... by breaking the Law 😂😂😂
Illegal search as: the search officer didn't ID himself, PACE S1 doesn't permit seizure of phone, examined the aftershave (going equipped with perfume !! 😂😂😂) , didn't record search, used a private phone to collect personal details of the search, (and the classic "we will get your details - not illegal, just embarrassing). Thats ALL they really want. He also advised AB that part of the reason was "some of those cars are private cars". Well then, how does AB know that?

I don't know why cops always just bow down to the higher ups that want them to do the dirty work. If my boss said "Do this questionable thing, that requires you to have legally reasonable reasons, but I'M NOT GOING TO DO IT" I'd tell him to buzz off. If my boss is too scared to put his name on the lawsuit why should I?!
I also would have spent the 15 min waiting for the search record checking the cars out in the open carpark again.
