Isn't it wonderful when we are able to fulfill those childhood dreams as adults when we have a few dollars in our pockets? Congrats on your "bucket list" watch!
It's strange how I had never noticed the watch Ripley wore in any of the films, I guess my horological tendencies came later. Never be afraid to geek out, your enthusiasm was infectious. You hit all the high notes, the watch just *fits* the film.
Aliens was such an awesome movie. I think that’s a big part of why people like those watches. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I’ll leave it at that.
I got mine from Japan also. I never noticed the watch until my gf pointed out it was being released again. I love aliens. I get lots of compliments on it. I took it to the watch shop in town to get it sized and the girls made such a big deal about the design.
You have made me fall in love with seiko... Now m trying to find someone who can repair my dad's 2 Vintage seiko automatic watches and already eyeing the SARB033 after watching ur review
congratulations tgv on for filling a childhood dream nothing wrong with that my friend, and i do love it when your adult life enables you to do so, im pleased for you i really am, i must admit i do the same thing from time to time, enjoy my freind enjoy, all the best Ryan.
Playing Alien Isolation last year I got kind of obsessed with Ripley Jr.s watch, inspired by the twin watches Ripley wore in the original alien. It was two Casio F-100's on a black nylon band with a weird orange rubber backing pad. I had an idea to try to copy it, with a couple of Casio CA-53 calculator watches (F-100s are pretty are these days), but I could never work out what to use for the orange rubber backing. Lately another game has had me wanting an old digital, Metal Gear Solid V has an old Seiko Digiborg SG757, which I've nearly snagged off eBay a couple of times, but the price always goes beyond what I think it's worth to me to have one. Hardest of all to find in functional condition is another 1980's classic, the LCD analog watch from Blue Thunder, which I think is a Casio AA-85? I have 3 Casio LCD analogs, but it would ice the cake to have Murphy's watch. Catch ya later!
Very cool purchase, retro futuristic! This is one that will no doubt be a conversation starter. Seiko quality and the design, (and this review) have peaked my interest! Thanks, another great review TGV.
Sci-fi classic, I always forget how intense the musical score is. Really glad you got your hands on one. And thank you always for putting in so much prep for your videos, even a simple unboxing. I think my favorite Giugiaro "future 80's car would be the BMW M1.
Fantastic TGV. This is an excerpt from a Japanese advert for the SEIKO SPIRIT (apologies for the translation): "It is designed to interact easily with push button on the stopwatch for the arm vertically in a State gripped the steering wheel for cars and motorcycles to prevent operation errors while at the same time wearing driving gloves."
Nice to relive past memories! Congrats on the geeky purchase :) Welcome to the 80s!! My father wore a Hamilton Khaki for 30 years, nostalgia bites when childhood memories are involved :) Film watch - Hamilton Khaki Titanium worn by Jack Ryan in Shadow Recruit
+Steve Poulton Haha, indeed. Gotta love those 80s movies, thank you Steve, great comment and excellent choice, love that Hammy!!! PURE CLASS. Best regards, TGV
wauw what a purchase. And as an answer to your question what film watch do you want to see reviewed! How about an 007 Omega Seamaster watch, the latest one comes with a nato, you will love it!
TGV, how do you feel about modded watches? Not a fake or replica, but a watch with replaced hands or dial. To be more specific, I love the SKX009 but would love to swap the hands, is this horological blasphemy or a considerable action? Thanks.
TGV, glad this ep is still up. Alien 40th Anniversary: Tomorrow 20:15 Odeon Glasgow. Got to be the Ripley LE Reissue. Chilly but short sleeves to be geeky and show it off. Perfect IG pic coming up. But of course the cinema is going to be full of geeks - it’s Alien! 😜
Hey tgv love the watch, aliens one of my fav films of all time. Thinking of buying the new seiko turtle reissue. It's worn in The Abyss by Ed Harris. Have you seen it? What do you reckon?
What a cool watch, I love film watches. When I was younger I always wanted the screw back g shock 5600 from the film Speed. Picked up one last year. Looking forward to the full review on this piece.
Contratulations my friend, and a Happy New Year!!. That Seiko Looks 100 times better in the video that it did on the picture posted on facebook, very nice acquisition!. As far as watches in movies are concerned, I really liked Jason Bourne's watch from the movies. Those movies came out during my teen years so he's one of the coolest characters in my mind lol. He Wears a Tag Heuer Link Automatic. I do know of all the connotation Tag has these days but I would hope the movies redeem this specific model some lol. Congratulations on the 20K Subs. Here's to an even better 2016. "Onwards and Upwards!!"
I was going for a seiko SKX007, but then i bumped on a Invicta Pro Diver 8926OB, i like the Invicta more, because of the submariner looks & bracelet, What do u think of Invicta?
Good intro about Giugiaro. On the down side, H.R. Giger is not H.P. Lovecraft nor H.G. Wells, but if you mix them together you get something like Alien. and I agree this is one of the greatest movie.
What a cool timepiece! Everyone has things they geek out about. ;) The film came out years before I was born but it seems like it'll make for a fun viewing experience. I should go look for it!
The hour indicator on the chronograph hour hand subdial needs to be corrected to initial position. Just pull the crown to the date adj. position or to the time adj. position and try one of the chronograph push buttons to control the hour chronograph hand separately. That grey coating seems like titanium, "top notch" 👍😉 My all time movie related watch is the famous Monaco Heuer chronograph which Steve McQueen used on the "Le Mans" movie. Iconic for all "petrolheads" and classic Porsche enthusiasts like I am 😀👌
The Urban Gentry is easily my favorite channel for watch reviews much like Nutnfancy is my favorite for guns, knives, etc. I guess now I'll be starting a watch collection. LOL.
Interesting story . Giugiaro is a great designer . Watches in films : Hamilton ventura in MIB , Heuer Monaco in "le mans" with Steve Mac Quinn . Dream watch : the Hamilton for Kubrick 's 2001 space odyssey (a prototype)
I like how you repay the sender at 1:35 by highlighting how he has improperly labelled import goods, while even giving the authorities a nice zoom in on his personal details. Nice one there mate...
Great question. It depends, so far I have never paid importing into the USA, but into the UK was very different. I had to pay customs tax. BTW, I just posted a new video on this watch this very minute. Thank you, Best regards, TGV
love this watch. Love the movie (have some autographed photos in my collection). I'm following the ripley and bishop on ebay. the two models offered together for a fair price....Congrats I'm happy for you.
The 7A28 movement in the original watch was the world's first battery quartz chronograph movement. Although made for mass production, it has very few plastic parts, runs in fifteen jewels, and can be easily regulated.
Great contents, it is also one of my favourite movies in the sci-fi genre. Congrats for the great production/editing made on this video. You make this on a very professional and dedicated way. Have a great 2016, TGV, full of Health and achievements. Keep the great work.
+PayMeDude Interesting point, mine seem to be the same. The full review is now up btw, thanks for watching, Best regards, TGV ruclips.net/video/fkCzi994bus/видео.html
I enjoyed the intro and learning about the designer, background and history of the watch as I would not have known at all and now that I do I can appreciate it all the more! Great review. - Tina Xx
Omg, I must have seen this film a million times and I never noticed that watch! That's got 80's written all over it... Another purchase awaits... 🙏🏽 p.s it looks like a cross between a ploprof and Porsche design watch! Great stuff, this could be a weekly segment... Watches and movies!
I have the black variant (SCED037) and it a great conversation starter. I am guessing SCED03x series house the only quartz-chrono movement made by Seiko, ever. Plus the Hollywood heritage makes it a must own piece.
Isn't it wonderful when we are able to fulfill those childhood dreams as adults when we have a few dollars in our pockets? Congrats on your "bucket list" watch!
go to 7:44 to avoid all the fluff.
Much obliged
Little rude but thanks
Thanks

Why do you keep making me spend money?!
+Weston Powers Because you have no self-control.
+Weston Powers 'cause gullible. me too.
+BusyPaws I didn't really buy it. I was just saying that I like all of these watches TGV reviews.
This has really grown on me, would be great to see more reviews of watches that have featured on TV and in the movies!
Always nice when you hear how people finally purchase an item they wanted from their childhood / teenage years. Enjoy wearing it. Cheers.
Not usual to run into people born 83 (my bith year too). I love the channel!!!
This watch encapsulates it's time period extremely well, quite an awesome purchase.
+Ernie Pl Indeed, very well put.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV

Man you have a villainous voice, which is so cool!
I'm about to take delivery of my sced041 in black with white .... I missed the silver one but I'm excited for my black one
Hi TGV, I was wondering if you have any thoughts on Fossil watches? Do you think they would be comparable to some of the lower end Seiko watches?
Seiko should do a working motion tracker in a watch. Love the Alien films.
I just got the SCED041. And am super confused about resizing it as well. Was it difficult to do?
Sci-fi classic, I always forget how intense the musical score is. Really glad you got your hands on one. And thank you always for putting in so much prep for your videos, even a simple unboxing. I think my favorite Giugiaro "future 80's car would be the BMW M1.
Steve McQueen's Tag Monaco from the 1971 film Le Mans. It's an iconic watch and is instantly recognisable due to its shape and colouring.
Fantastic TGV. This is an excerpt from a Japanese advert for the SEIKO SPIRIT (apologies for the translation):
"It is designed to interact easily with push button on the stopwatch for the arm vertically in a State gripped the steering wheel for cars and motorcycles to prevent operation errors while at the same time wearing driving gloves."
Please review the Casio F100 (now A100) reissue from Alien!
Would love to hear your thoughts a history about it! :)
Nice! I would leave it on the original bracelet, very unique and awesome.
Super Cool watch. Have run resizing, those folded links can be a fit fiddly to pop out the first time. Love the coating Seiko put on there.
Hi can you put the link on where you got yours from exactly...thanks Ross great video...
where did u bought it from ?
One of my favourite features in Seiko chronographs is when you reset the chronograph hand and it swings around the dial!
Nice to relive past memories! Congrats on the geeky purchase :) Welcome to the 80s!! My father wore a Hamilton Khaki for 30 years, nostalgia bites when childhood memories are involved :)

It is very beautiful. I like that it is exactly the colour used in the movie. The bracelet is a little bit tricky to adjust.

i would definitely wear this. looks so cool and retro.
Lol "I want the Ripley watch just like Ripley". Really made me chuckle.
I was going for a seiko SKX007, but then i bumped on a Invicta Pro Diver 8926OB, i like the Invicta more, because of the submariner looks & bracelet, What do u think of Invicta?
Hi TGV,
very interesting back story of this Seiko. Congratulations! Enjoy your new watch and wear it in good health.
Cheers!
That's a great fun piece to add to the collection. Cool conversation starter.
Just managed to get my hands on a black one. Love it!
Good intro about Giugiaro.

+The Urban Gentry What size nato does it take? do you know?
What a cool timepiece! Everyone has things they geek out about. ;) The film came out years before I was born but it seems like it'll make for a fun viewing experience. I should go look for it!
Hi please can you tell me how did you order the watch I will be appreciated if you guide me the website because I wanna order old Seiko

TGV, nice purchase you made there. Been considering buying this. Mind sharing the seller's details? I could not find a "Keigo Igarashi".
Great watch, thank you for bringing it to my attention! Great video as usual TGV.
Many thanks, Ollie.
Hi again TG. Is this watch still available to buy as beand new ?
The Urban Gentry is easily my favorite channel for watch reviews much like Nutnfancy is my favorite for guns, knives, etc.

I like how you repay the sender at 1:35 by highlighting how he has improperly labelled import goods, while even giving the authorities a nice zoom in on his personal details. Nice one there mate...
Calm down.
Brian Byrne Why do you waste your time commenting nothing?
Now on the watch list. Many thanks!
do you pay import fees or tariffs etc when purchasing from Japan?
Great question. It depends, so far I have never paid importing into the USA, but into the UK was very different.
I had to pay customs tax.

How come I never knew of the reissues model? I would have bought it. Where can I find one now.
The 7A28 movement in the original watch was the world's first battery quartz chronograph movement. Although made for mass production, it has very few plastic parts, runs in fifteen jewels, and can be easily regulated.
Great video, lots of detail. Sorry if I didn't hear in the video, but did you say how much it cost? Beautiful watch, very unique.
Very Exciting and inspirational video. Also the Urban Gentry Channel is absolutely amazing! Enjoy yourselves & have a great weekend!
Looks a lot better than in the pictures. Great purchase TGV. Cheers
Great Review... I would love to purchase that particular model...Who would you recommend TGV ...?
Yep. I love the movies Alien, and Aliens. I think I liked the aliens sequal a little more but both are awesome.

Where did you buy the watch? Can you link the japanese seller's site?
Very cool! Can't wait to see the full review!
I enjoyed the intro and learning about the designer, background and history of the watch as I would not have known at all and now that I do I can appreciate it all the more! Great review. - Tina Xx

very cool watch. I'm looking forward to the full review.
Interesting context on Giugiaro and Aliens, great video TGV. Perhaps the Omega La Magique worn in Scarface...
