    Thanks for sharing, that was most enjoyable. I hope to visit Madeira when we can afford it. I have family roots there from my maternal great grandmothers side. My one uncle was also from there. I think Portugal as the retirement visa requirements stand is the perfect place to retire to. Looking forward to more videos.

    Great video- We have been traveling to PT since 2018; When we traveled the first time we stayed in Lisbon, Porto, and then on the way back visited Coimbra. Stayed at Silver Coast and visited Obidos and Peniche and then traveled to Algarve- Lagos, Tavira, Faro, but our favorite place is a little town - Praia da Luz near Lagos.

    We were in Portugal a couple of weeks ago. Lisbon is lovely as are Sintra & Cascais. We spent a day in Porto.....rainy. But still quite nice.....and Port wine rocks! We'd consider settling in Portugal but would love to see more of it. I even stumbled into a Bond movie location. It was great! The only down side was the airport at Lisbon. It's a bit like a regional airport that serves a major metro city.

    Thank you for a great summary on various parts of Portugal. Our trip last year included Madeira, Lisbon and Porto around the TG time and we luckily escaped the rains. We did love Madeira a lot but just the feeling that it was not in the mainland made us sway our liking more towards the mainland and in particular Porto than even Lisbon. We did visit Douro valley and was captivated by the amazing scenic views. After seeing this video our next trip to Portugal will include some of the new cities you mentioned. We love Portugal and the great content you bring to the breakfast table. Thanks again and wishing Y'all a Very happy Christmas and a Great New Year.

    So glad you enjoyed Nazare, Quarteira and Tavira. We liked Aveiro too, though we never got to Costa Nova and regret that. Quarteira and Nazare have the rare advantage of the town and the beach being more or less the same. And we agree: As much as the mainland rocks, nothing beats Madeira. We hope to join you (permanently) on the island some time next year.

    Love to see Leo on the background rolling around on the floor like a big baby❤ Before the visa tax change we have a 3 weeks trip to Spain and Portugal schedule on March 2024. This trip will decide if the tax burden is worth it. Living our last part of life in a great place is worth considering. We will keep looking around and traveling to other places but Spain and Portugal are in to top of our list. Thanks for all the videos. They are very informative.

      The NHR rule change has thrown a curved ball and made matters worse from the Taxation point. I already have another Tax to file from my original home country (though I am a US citizen) since i have investments there and the last thing I want is a third country to be a tax resident of. So exploring the options of switching between Schengen and non Non Schengen countries with a 89 day stay and shuffle to beat the rules and yet stay in Europe. The only problem is that you have to have a permanent accommodation in at least one place to call it your "OWN HOME" to come back to. Our goal is to spend at least 2 years in Europe and visit all of Europe than flying in from North America each time. From the real estate point of view Spain seems attractive in pricing. We came across a Golf Course resort south of Murcia(a sleepy town) where you can get a 800-900 sft 2 BR condos for 120K Euros completely gated. I would much rather prefer Alicante / Valencia so you can have a little more vibrant life or even Malaga. Lots of ideas though but decision making with the Family is a tough one!. will be there one day.

      Hello! Yes you can certainly do a long term rental. Most passports allow you to only stay 90 days, so you would need a visa to stay longer unless of course you’re an EU citizen. Thanks for watching. Happy holidays! 🎄 Cheers! M&D

    You mentioned the resident cost to fly to the mainland, what would that be? is it a fixed price all year long? are there restrictions?

    • @Track_Us_Down
      @Track_Us_Down  Год назад +2

      Hello Paul, Yes the residents price is 86€. Residents purchase a regular ticket for what ever the price - up to a certain amount. Ours were 400€ each return. After the trip, you present your boarding passes and tickets to the CTT postal service and receive a refund , minus the 86€ per person. We are not sure how many times per year you can access this refund. Mostly it’s easy to find flights under 86€ return on discount airlines. This was full fare as we needed checked luggage. Thanks for watching! Happy Holidays! 🎄M&D
