    That's a nice old girl. Someone took care of her. You don't come across an unmolested FL often. Please keep up the good work saving them.
    I recently picked up an original owner '70 FLH. It's all origional from the windshield to tourpack, and even has an accessory Am/Fm 8-track. They all need a little love, but it's worth it. I'd be all over this one if I had the space.

    I thought the early primary covers from 65- E66 had a small front inspection port that had a 3/4 plug? Either way still a tough cover to find. My OP 66 also has the rocket type slip on mufflers that are the same for 65, I thought 67 was the first year of the turn out?

    • @HuntingHarleys
      @HuntingHarleys  Год назад +1

      67, 68 turn out has 3 fins inside. 65 , 67 1 fin. Early 65 has screw for compensating sprocket grease. Late 65 up does not. Late 65 has the 66 style up floor boards too.

    • @mattchoppers1
      @mattchoppers1 Год назад

      @@HuntingHarleys I met a guy who bought his bike brand new in 1966 with a side hack and it has the compensator grease plug. He was telling me that early 66 and 65 all had that plug and since my 66 was in the 10,000 vin range that plug had been eliminated mid year. No big deal. There's just no real documentation on 65 and 66 like there is for knuckleheads, panheads and flat heads. Other than that shovelhead book put out by Donny.

    • @HuntingHarleys
      @HuntingHarleys  Год назад +2

      The problem. HD didn't care. 1st part in the Box last part out of the box. Thus transition year parts got mixed. Some had, some didn't have. Thus the plug or no plug on the primary cover is correct late 65 through 66.

    Why in the last 10 years has all this stuff been so hard to find? You made a good point. Why do you think that is?

    • @HuntingHarleys
      @HuntingHarleys  Год назад

      It's easy to find. Go to Japan. They own 95% of Harley production 36 to 84

    • @Evolution_10_X
      @Evolution_10_X Год назад

      @HuntingHarleys yeah but it seems the last 10 years it's accelerated by 10x. Knuckles and pans were pretty easy to find even up to 2010 and reasonably priced. That's not a long time at all. It's a shame all those harleys are over there now. No Americans are buying them back either because there 3x as much as they are In the states. It's a lost cause unless you got millions. It's obvious it's effected your buisness also. You used to have 100s even thousands of old machines but the last 10 years it's dwindled significantly.

    • @HuntingHarleys
      @HuntingHarleys  Год назад

      Yen during the Bush caused economic implosion 2008 - 2010 was 70 to the dollar. Japan made 3 times the money. $ exchange was favorable to every country. 10s of thousands left weekly as a result by every port in the USA.

    • @Evolution_10_X
      @Evolution_10_X Год назад

      @HuntingHarleys have you bought back from Japan? Or even know anyone that is? Tons of old harleys over there but like I said before nobody is buying it back and unfortunately it's gone for good. Many Americans made a living flipping Harleys to japan and now the mine is tapped out. Money spent and bikes gone for good. I want to ask them, was It worth it?

    • @HuntingHarleys
      @HuntingHarleys  Год назад

      Yes, I've bought one bike back from Japan. Occasionally they do come back, but not often. Do U feel guilty selling to Japan. No, you can only sell to people who buy.

    • @PM-oy3xv
      @PM-oy3xv 9 месяцев назад

      @HuntingHarleys whatever makes you sleep at night 🤷🏻‍♂️. I get it. Sell to the highest bidder but american overseas sellers like yourself made this hobby into a monopoly. A big reason the prices are so inflated is because sell outs who pretend to care about preserving these machines sold so many overseas that now no Americans can afford them. Overseas economies like Japan are way better than ours so they go overseas instead. The problem here is making flipping these iconic antique machines into a type of 9-5 job. People shouldn't own these bikes for profit. It should be to ride them and enjoy them soley. If you worked a normal job, you could have probably kept many of your knuckleheads and not had to sell out to japan in order to put food on the table. You practically put yourself out of business.

    • @HuntingHarleys
      @HuntingHarleys  9 месяцев назад +1

      There are literally thousands of people like me. We all have the same problem. You cannot sell to people who won't buy. Put you out of business really fast. I'll give an example. Between 2010 and 2013 I sold 1600 motorcycles. Only 6 went to the USA. SIX!! The average price I paid for a good shovel at this time period, 3k. If I and others were not buying those 3k shovels would of become 1k shovels at which point they become scrap metal. The scrap yards ate many a knuckle and pan in the early days because they were so cheap. As far as my knuckles.... show me a job that pays 500k a year after taxes... I'm "there". IE a job would of never allowed me to have or keep them

    I have kind of a stupid question but a good question :-) why are the bikes getting hard to find? Are they crashing these bikes and then throwing them in the dumpster? I mean who would do that? Are they burning up in a fire crash and burn? Or are they just park back in somebody's barn or garage? The kids inherited the bike and they're still sitting there because who in their right mind throws away an old Harley to the dumpster? My point is they should all be somewhere? This is August of 2023 I live in southern Missouri Ozarks where can I find a list of Flathead Harleys for sale? That's real been looking on my phone on the internet and there's like bogus advertisements or something

      @@HuntingHarleys okay that says a lot yes!! I started watching a guy with a channel I think he's from Japan riding a lot of old Flathead Harleys. he's got a prosthetic arm:-) where can I find a real list of Flathead Harleys for sale? I would like to get me a reasonably priced one if they still exist! I'm an old man I'm not 70 yet but it's my desire to be able to drive one? Thanks .i was a barn painter in Wisconsin in about 1994 I stumbled on a 47 full-dress Indian chief Park in the bottom of the haymow and it was outside of Stevens Point Wisconsin .I never had a bank loan in my life even to this day! and then I lived in a log cabin had a wife and four kids and I did not have the money. but I asked him if he would consider selling it? of course my heart was beating I've always had old motorcycles mostly triumphs and Japanese stuff. He said he parked it there when he drove it home after the war. he said that his sons were not interested in it or his family whatsoever!! But I didn't go any further with the conversation because winter was coming and I had a barn to paint no cash that year 🙃
