THANK YOU for this video. We have been doing this for 18 months and just started to feel so down about our slow growth. We got into the trap of seeing other creators in a similar niche grow SO quickly and just beating ourselves up for being not good enough, not likeable enough, not young enough, not beautiful enough, not talented enough... whatever negative thing we could think of! Today, I really felt like we are just wasting our time. But I've watched this and it genuinely has made me feel so much better about everything. Growth is still growth. We will get there, and we will damn well have fun while we work at it!

Thank you for your encouragement! I have had my channel since 2014 but was not sure what to do. It has now been about 18 months since I started applying myself and am closing in on my first 1000 subs - (641). The interesting thing is that I have over 10,000 watch time hours. WTF?
Yes, I get discouraged sometimes, but when I look back, I see growth and have had a few spikes. I just keep holding on, posting and waiting for the algorithm to create momentum.
I have learned so much on the journey and can see why some people quit early on. There is a huge learning curve, learning audio and video simultaneously is a big task, but so worth it! If I take away anything from my experience so far, it's how much I have learned and how much my work has grown. At this point quitting is NOT an option.
Thank you for your wonderful videos! You have given me and so many other new creators encouragement to continue and reminding us that RUclips is a marathon and not a race.
Blessings to you and thank you again!! 💖✨

RUclips has been so good for my mental health this winter. It's been great to have videos to plan for and to think about. This sounds cheesy af, but it's sort of given me my future back

I'm just seeing this. This video was perfect for me Rob. I said that because I have thought about it because I'm getting subscribers that fast but then again my subs count has went up since I've started putting consistent content out 4 months ago. I feel like the subscribers count is going slow & will take forever and the watch hours will come quicker which is even a bigger task (4K watch hours) I wish you had to get 1 or the other to get monetized tbh. I will not quit but sometimes I do look at other channels and say how they get their numbers so easy in a hour. I know because I'm not known, I'm new to YT, & gotta make content that people wanna watch

Hi Rob, it is good to have this kind of critical reflection sometimes. I have been only three months on this journey and during this short period of times, I feel that I am doing something good for others. I started with the idea of sharing some knowledge with others, and honestly it feels great. I don't know if it will work for me as a way to generate some incomes, but what I know is that I am enjoying it. Thank you for sharing and producing your videos.

Was at this mindset for a couple of month this year, but thanks Rob this helped. Except numbers and everything else, youtube is a place to share your story with the world in many creative ways as teaching, how to, making music, playing a specific game etc. Its about connecting yourself with other peoples who might find themself on your content. To me thats the beautiful of this platform. If youre deticated to your passion it will resonate with your audience too 🙂

My idols on RUclips are Viva la Dirt League. They got their first 100,000 subscribers after 8 years ... Damn it 8 years, it's incredible how much time and effort was spent, but now they have millions of subscribers, so I will not stop.
My channel was created in 2012, but due to life's problems (there was no high-speed Internet ... yes, Russia is a country of madness and horror), videos began to download only in 2020 ... I was only a viewer for 8 years.
Now, after a little over six months, 845 subscribers, but this is just the beginning ...

Hi, I have been on YT since 2012 and had a full time outside job simultaneously. It took me years to become monetized and a month ago I was demonitized due to not enough watch hours. I don't post as often as i used to but that was definitely shocking to deal with. I recently found your channel so I am hoping to get back on the horse! Thanks for sharing you have great content.

Happy to watch this video. The same is happening to me. Sometimes I feel discouraged since every now and then, I try my best to keep my videos safe and bum a copyright claim for one second of a logo popping up. Or maybe a video about a cheat code for your streaming service is considered against community guidelines! Still here I am after 9 years and 25K subscribers!

The best way to be a better RUclipsr is to not compare yourself to others but instead compare yourself to who you were yesterday. Everyone grows at different rates and and it's important to find motivation based on your personal progress. Look back at what you achieved and let that push you to be better in the future! 💪🏻

Thanks for this I really needed to hear this. I fell into a pitfall of chasing Subs Views and $$$. I lost what made some of my stuff special in the early days and my viewers lately have been letting me know how I positively impacted them and lost sight of this and discovered this is what is so important. I was seeing everyone around me grow so fast in a fraction of the time and I was failing and thought of quitting but decided to hit the brakes and re-evaluate the content instead of being comfortable doing same old generic stuff and not trying to change things or experiment out of my zone. I used to hyper refresh my studio app, constantly checking analytics instead of looking at new ideas, what can I do that's different, exciting and engaging. I've been doing this since September 2022 and I have 702 Subs and hope I don't stop anytime soon. This was very needed and I appreciate it.
