This was in VERY early '91. Two reasons why I could tell: --1) Desert Storm: If this was 1990, it would be Desert Shield. --2) The New York Football Giants winning Super Bowl XXV: They were 12-4 the previous season, good enough for 1st in the NFC East, but lost to the Rams in OT during the Playoffs.
1990--I was three years old. The 1st birthday I really remember. Remember so many things from the earliest years of the 90s. The pop culture, the music, the styles. It brings me back to a simpler time in both my life and the national culture. I so love these archives, you're doing a greater thing for all of us who remember the way things used to be, than you can realize, I think. Today is my birthday and I can hardly believe this was all over 30 years ago. It seems like last week I was a kid, ripping open my presents with excitement and digging into my cake, LOL.
i was 4 years old and miss the 90s so much . the funny thing i remember most about the early 90s is the mullet lmao i loved it back then and so glad its coming back in style . it fits me now a days lmao . but also i remember the skate boarding videos and bmx bikes of the mid 90s and 2 stroke dirtbikes , heavy metal like metallica and the hip hop music with the cali low lows lol . sorry im just missing the 90s

Cadbury (bunny auditions), Campbell’s (snowman), Hershey’s Kiss (jingle bells) and Tootsie Roll Pops (the owl) run the same commercials for decades without ever changing them. Even the Pennsylvania Lottery runs the same Christmas commercial every year editing the end to show the current scratch off games.
It's actually painful to watch some of these commercials. Life was so different back then. I was born in 1972 and I was turning 18 years old in 1990. I've lost a lot of friends and family since then. They're all gone but this brings the all back. Do i wished I could go back again? Yes!!!! Yes, I would but just to let them all know how special they were to me.
My mom loved the General Foods International coffees. Her favorite was the Kahlua Cafe flavor. She would have a cup almost every morning before I went to daycare and kindergarten lol

Giants Disney World commercial has to be from 1991 because the San Francisco 49ers (My Favorite Team) won the Super Bowl in 1990 by beating the Denver Broncos 55-10 on January 28, 1990. I'll never forget that game and date because it was played the day before my ninth birthday. I went to school the following Monday celebrating my birthday and their victory all day. SWEET, SWEET MEMORIES!
Man, those Nissan D21 pickups. My granddad owned two in his life. A 1989 model and then a 1996 model. Both black. Wish I could've obtained his 1996 model pickup before he passed away in 2013, but my cousin got it before me. It was a base 2wd pickup with a 4 cylinder engine and 5 speed manual transmission. Basic as basic can be for a truck.
What has me floored is how I never knew about Combos until like, 15 years ago? When they'd been around so long already, but they were more obscure in Canada, but MAN are they good!

Bet M&M-Mars regretted that decision. My guess would be the sudden rise in popularity of Reese’s pieces forced M&M-Mars to counter it with peanut butter m&ms but my only question is why did they wait 8 years?
I actually think the pullout of the shot from inside a tv playing its advert, to a frustrated, troubled with addiction viewer and while just before that, it was pitching itself as very ideal, engaging, appealing, then it almost undercuts itself for its own sense of abstracting of lets cut out the pizazz and get serious and real here, and goes to something that is much more relatable, compelling to the viewer so I give top full marks for that, however the horse in that shot had me wondering if it was even real, hard to tell in this grainy, dated format

Hey, Ian - I use Evernote to catalogue my ads. For each episode, I create a new note and then document each commercial based on its timestamp. I only started doing this recently and so far, only have around 100 episodes catalogued. It's a very slow process, but I hope to have everything catalogued by the end of the year. I keep backups of the RAW tape transfer, as well as the curated episodes in a 'master' format.
