Good one, but for anyone genuinely wondering, modern transmissions are incredibly smart. There's a guy, autoblog is the name of his channel I believe, he tried putting his car in reverse at high speeds and revving the engine. It defaulted to putting the transmission in neutral to protect it.

Paul, they have so many fantastic ideas, however the park brake does not come on automatically when put into park, and the car rolls and sits on the gearbox, not the park brake.
To be fair, my 2015 Discovery Sport always puts itself in Park (and applies the electric park brake) when you turn it off so…. And also if the electric park brake is on and the vehicle is in N or P and you whack into D, S or R and press the accelerator, it automatically disengages the brake so you don’t have to. And if you take your seatbelt off while auto stop/start is engaged (engine off) it will shut down the vehicle. However you can manually put it in Park and then remove your foot from the brake while in auto stop/start mode and it stays “On” allowing you to go back into D/S/R and drive off. And if you take your seatbelt off and open the door, it’ll also stop. All good features.
That would be annoying if you want to open the door and creep forward looking at the road edge to get close to something. Should only stop the vehicle if the door is opened AND the seatbelt is removed.
Some people have more disposable income than you to the point where they’re not worried about something like thag happening. Plus, most people do not keep their new vehicles out of warranty
Is there a towing mode where in can be left in natural if it was needed to be towed Or when setting up on a hoist and it needs to be centred correctly without being started
The Philippine Spec Rangers, though also made in Thailand, has the taller gear selector similar to the T6 Ranger. Only the Everest here has that gear selector. Though also, we don't get the 10 speed for the lower trims. Only the 6 speed auto.
Yup, it does. My dad has the new Ranger. It's a little annoying if wanting to look out the side of the truck while backing up to a trailer. Found out in order to bypass that, the door has to be opened before putting the truck into drive/reverse.
My jeep does that too. So does MOST other vehicles with rotary shifters. Wow. It's SO unique. The only difference is, mine and other rotary style shifters don't need any extra servo's that can go bad to make it work. Leave it to Ford to overly complicate something and make it worse...
Because this shifter seems to be reserved to the V6 with full time 4WD only. Asian market isn't getting the V6 diesel. I'm also sure there's an element of the fact that only 50+ year old boomers can afford to buy this in the Asian markets.
There are tons of videos that show people's cars rolling away when they get out. A lot of people get into a hurry and don't make sure the shifter actually goes into park instead of neutral.
It also does it to me in the garage when I’m creeping forward and open my door to make sure I’m just past the brick pillar so I can open my door fully and not hit it (small garage issues 🙄)
Hmm, seems like another thing to break. Like most cars just don’t let you shut it off when in drive. You at least need to be in neutral to shut the engine off
It also does it when you open the door.. and everyone who thinks what happens if it stall or you open the door whilst driving.. it’s hooked into the wheel sensors so it can’t activate whilst moving.
It's so hard for me watching this to see how the steering wheel is on the right side of the car, i'm so used to seeing it on the left side in the US, especially after sitting in one lol.
I'm concerned, what if it malfunctions while driving and goes into park mode, electronic gadgets while working is a blessing but if it malfunctions its a pain

The transmission is electronically controlled, and it's smart enough to not go into park while the vehicle is moving.

In Thailand only the stormtrack and raptor have that e-shifter. The wildtrack has a 10-speed but a 6-speed looking shifter handle.
