core 2 duo in that thing with the proper bios update could possible run core 2 quad still very capable chip. Overclocks well too even those core 2 duos OC pretty decent lol. I have core 2 quad q6600 stable at 3.33ghz stock voltage aswell.
They really carried the late 2000s and early 2010s eh? At least from my memory
i thought it was like a later pentium 4, i am a little bit surprised it's a core2 but not that much :P
about the sound blaster live situation, on windows 98 audigy 2 zs drivers actually works for sound blaster lives as well, including most oem ones, maybe that's also the case on windows 7?
Not sure how much it will help but the dell xps 600 used a card like that and dell’s site even has those hard to find xp 64 bit drivers you mentioned. They even had the version for vista there though that was a 32 bit version. If this computer has 4 gigs of ram or less it doesn’t make much sense to go for a 64 bit os.
The system does have 4GB, but I plan to use 64-bit software and Vista's extended kernel, which requires a 64-bit OS.
I appreciate it though, and I'll take a look at that page on Dell's site at some point. :)
You should try to use the SB Live card's Hardware ID from within your Win7 x64 when you look for drivers for it. (Looks like this for example: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0900&SUBSYS_1462DA11&REV_1000).
I have some original sound blaster installation CDS I need to get a DVD to zip the disc in a small file then post it some were saying that I now there his a way to send the large file using some program but I can’t remember the name .. should you wont a copy just leave a message
I have a few rackmount industrial pc's that i'm sorting issues out on lol.
Neat computer!
These things are pretty cool! Wish I could find one!
I succesfully ran SB Live! 5.1 under Windows 10/11 with kX Drivers. I think your issues are related to weird OEM's modifications.
I think so. I'm sure the drivers work fine with a regular card.
If you're going to run the hard drive like that, you really should turn it upside down so it doesn't make contact with anything metal in the bottom of that case.
Depending on the drive, running it upside down can damage the disk mechanism. It's not an issue though, as the circuit board is raised slightly so it won't make contact with the bottom casing.
I appreciate your concern though, thank you for your comment. :D
I have some original sound Blaster instalation cds i am going to try then out and se if they are still readable.. mayby i can find a way ti send you the files ....saying that excelente vídeo
Throw the files on archive.org, if you know how! If not, I can do it myself if you send me the files. Just send a link my way through my email. :)
Appreciate the kind words too! :D
give it a regular desktop pc
that SB0200 is a dell OEM you need the dell driver, also it dose not have full hardware acceleration as it's software only.
got to love when OEM's cheep out.
the non junk SoundBlaster Live from dell that has full hardware acceleration is the SB0220
also dell got sued over this also all SoundBlasters models from dell need Dell Drivers.
Doesn't surprise me, and that's probably why that custom driver I found didn't work. I'll just need to get a better sound card later.
I had another Dell variant, CT4780. can attest to the drivers being a pain - in my experience they were only really usable on XP and nothing else because even the official Dell drivers didn't work but the stock ones built into XP did.
also I have definitely made that sound blaster run on w7 before, albeit w7 32 bit
That's the issue, it only works on 32-bit Windows 7. The 32-bit drivers are not compatible with 64-bit Windows. That's why I'm having so much trouble, haha!
I could install 32-bit Windows 7, but I want to be able to run 64-bit software on that PC if I need to.
What happened to the original hard drive/ software? That would be really cool to see.
My workplace destroyed it for security, if the people working to decommission the PC didn't take it out themselves.
there are vista drivers for older soundblasters the sbo570 works good in windows xp and it functions fine in vista
An SBC that takes socket 775 sounds neat
the same indiana that does not have high speed gate free tolling.
what a wonderful case! the next upgrade i plan for my main pc is a metal case like that with an antennae to improve signal (with a big red comical sphere on the end)
Okay that sounds awesome lol
First! Hooray!
:D
