Try stabilizing that footage with the gyro data in catalyst browse. I think it could look even a lot better. Amazing video btw!
I was curious about cropping too. My GoPro hero3 silver mounted on a Traxxas Bandit was very smooth driving and chasing ducks :)
Remove the gimbal and remove the camera and put a GoPro 9 on the RC, problem solved 🙃. Just kidding,🙃 that was good 👌
Haha right. He wants a challenge though
No fun in that! Also, can’t beat a full frame camera ;D
@@PeterLindgren1 i was just kidding bro 🙃 i know full frame is full frame, and GoPro's performance can't even go near of it.
Actually yes GoPro with ReelSteady way to go…. If your going this route it is hard to get rid of those vibrations given the size of the wheels
I think a 360 camera should be able to reduce all vibration even off road
Camera insurance guy: "how did you break the $10000 camera? did you put it on a rc car haha". Peter: "hehe"
Loved it, that was tonnes of fun. Maybe different shocks on the car might help too. Did you have stabilisation on active? Can't wait to see v3 🔥
I've been waiting for this followup video! I'd love to see more "just for fun" videos like this from you.
For the suspension I was glad that you removed as much preload as possible from the car's shocks, but what I'd do instead of the wires is use small (onroad probably) shocks on the RS2 plate with very light weight oils and springs. Wire rope is basically a spring with high friction (as the wires move over eachother to bend), and friction isn't the same as dampening (that you get from shocks) due to stiction. As for the dirty camera, PotatoJet just did a video about filming underwater using a special bag with lenses that's also used for dirty environments.
Thank you for the video and the effort, keep innovating! Love the slow-mo shots of the actual rig being shot!
Watching the rc car glide with gimbal and a7siii is like watching a majestic gazelle run in the mythical forests of Abylon
Loved this Peter! Seems like it was a lot of fun to get in the workshop to find a solution to the problem! Am excited to see version 3 now- you probably won’t stop until you get the ultimate smooth footage haha!
Looks like mars rover. 😂👍🏻 i made a simple one with 50$ budget for simple rotation shots. Kudos buddy i totally enjoyed ur video
That’s wicked. Love it great video 👍🏻
Loved seeing the whole design/revision process. Super awesome. 😎
This is badass 🔥
I think more than the broll stuff, these build-out videos of urs, are the TRP to this channel. Love ur work ❤️
woww. you nailed it... awesome
Very nice. Especially that you DIY’d a solution that works fairly well and even better with some additional tweaking .. Pro built RC vehicle platforms for serious camera rigs cost upwards of $3500 (US) ! B&H sell them but I think it’s more rewarding to build it yourself
Incredibly cool! I've been waiting for some RC car content. 🤩
That was awesome!! I wanna see the RC car mkiii perfected!! This is a really good story too
Haha I need to try this! This is amazing dude, as you said looks like tough to control it but with few adjustments who knows 🚀🚀
Way frigging cool and great fun!
i can really appreciate the amount of energy u put in your videos man...great stuff
Cool 🙌🏼🔥
This is so rad!
Definitely would love to see more of this. Experimenting with camera setups like this. You should try a RC boat.
The RC looks mean 😍 and to be honest I loved all the shots of the RC driving around the most. Cool concept and a fun video to watch at the same time! Good one Peter 😀.
One of my favorite videos of yours! Love these kinds of projects. I am so curious how it would look if you use Sony's Catalyst Browse Gyroscopic Stabilization on this footage. What a great tool you just built! Fantastic Job! ⚡⚡⚡
This was awesome!!!!
Bird's eye view is drone and now a dog's eye view is now existing. Definitely some filmmaker inspired to make that.
NICE! Seen and driven a couple of camera rigs in the past. Very cool stuff. Love the build. Seen a few "wire" suspension builds do the trick too. I still feel the "action cameras" with stabilization do the "mounted to an RC car" job a little better but great stuff regardless.
Too cool! NOW I have to buy an RC Car and make a Rig!
Great video! Thanks Peter.
Loved your dad's confidence in your handy work 😂 turned out so well though!
Genius, Pete! An absolute cool project
Wow that's insane tottaly love that combo need to try this out 😍💪🏾
Great and touch epic
wow awesome build pete😎🤩🤩 interesting build like this .. keep doing these kind of things its awesome to watch 😍
Ohhh what an idea 💡.... now this is called a positive "jugaad "......... I am loving it....
I want this 🤗🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰....
Love you little boy 👦...
Looks like small powerful robot in Transformers movie. 🥰
that was awesome !!
my thoughts are you need a 2 stage shocks/suspension setup: 1 adjustable tensioned firmer stabilizer attached to the gimbal, and a 2nd more looser foam/dampening base attached to the car
Peter parker🔥
Wish I had workshop like yours~ for RC footage, maybe in higher framerates + catalyst stabilizer may reduce blurs
Amazing ....Thanks for sharing
It's almost like bringing videogaming to reality in a way, just meshing gear together to make an awesome working creation...HAHA. I absolutely love it!
the mad scientist is back!!! I love these videos!
As usual I enjoy your video. Thank you.
Good,this was awesome
Awesome dude!!!
completely unusable footage, but i love the journey of experimentation and discovery. Better suspension on the rc car and an optically stabilized lens would help a lot though. Anything more performant will require Z axis smoothing like a spring arm. Great video.
Loved this video show much, Keep up the great work peter.
That could be great content. You building up stuff, like cranes, rotating stuff and other gear for the cameras. Always great content! 🔥🔥
Awesome build - I made my own 'Tero' which is idential to the Freefly option so have some experience in this.
The problems are:
You have is the wire thickness is too high for the camera rig weight on the plate.
The wires mounts are straight vertical meaning the camera rig has a tendency to sway a lot. (If you made the bottom plate wider it'd reduce that swaying motion under acceleration / deceleration and turning).
The tyres induce high frequency vibrations due to their rotation so adding another set makes it worse, when driving the Tero we just take extra care when it comes to the stability.
It's a balancing act between more stiffness and more weight, I add V-Mount batteries for DSLRs as well as 1/4 screwed weights on the camera plate because they just don't weigh enough to give the vibration reduction we want.
Would be awesome to see a V2 and it'd be guaranteed to work with some more fine tuning and additional weight!
wow....what a beast 🙌😅😍😍👌🔥
very creative Peter
The music is on point 🔥🔥
Super cool
Great fun video ❤️
❤❤❤ this is cool
I love the connection of you with dji
your dad's honesty haha "*Smiling* ... No"
This was the reason why i turned on my notification all the way from South Africa🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦😅♥️♥️♥️♥️
You r the perfection master 👌👌😍😍 love you big bro .. creative cinematographer 🔥
Fun & entertaining video.
Love it
Coffee...achhh...nice 👌👌😆
It looks like it was pure fun to you ...
Excellent and exciting video
It was really great to see such rc car with this a7siii camera.
This brings back memories.. RIP Sony 16-35 f4 :(
Hi Leo
@@adithya_1100 hi!
3 things , 1 In English its hose clamp if you were curious.. 2 on freestyle drones we use flight controllers that log gyro data. Then in post you can apply that data to the video and stabilize it after the fact. Most of the flight controllers will work with rx cars as well. Just a thought for v3 😁. 3 awesome video, keep them coming
Great fun.
Thats a superb home made iso damper👍
haha this is crazy man!
That's some MacGyver shit, great work dude!
This is unexpectedly oddly satisfying.
Way more fun watching the car fly around than the footage.Cheers!
MADMAN!
Great Build job!
Looks almost like something that should have run around the planet Mars! Very stylish! Greetings from Norway
Very interesting! Nice
Maybe it's a silly solution but I would add some foam to help the cushioning
WOW! you've really outdone yourself! that's really high quality content here!
Glad you liked it!
@@PeterLindgren1 keep on inspiring us! You are dope!!!
Aaaah, the childhood memories of traveling from Norway to Sweden to buy RC Cars (much cheaper), firecrackers (illegal in Norway) and smugling skateboards over the border (also illegal until 1980’s)… One thing to try: instead of the extra wheels, adding a horizontal bar side to side with wheels at the end, like the support wheels on a kids bike to keep it from rolling over, might do the trick in terms of keeping the steering agile :) Great video, looking forward to part 3 with Z axis stabilization :)
That looks so sick! You can kinda see the tire wobble from the second set of tires in the video
That is Epic! Would love to try shooting at a higher shutter speed and then add some stabilization afterwards. More like how the action cameras do it.
shooting at 120fps 4k, 1/500 or higher shutter speed and going full speed on the rc car, Playback at preferred framerate and motionblur added in software if needed.
Great video as always :)
Would love to see more of this project
True, we tested and just crank the shutter speed WAY up and stabilize with gyro data. Add some motion blur. Done.
Amazing
I know others have said it, but I think a high shutter speed and Catalyst would be cool to see with this. I've put my cameras on lots of different RC cars, and you took it to another level here.
How cool that dji send him stuff after watching his video ✨✌️
So cool ;-) ;-)
interesting idea to try
GoPro is the way to go, no extra shock suspension and no worries about damaging a freaking expensive camera…
Great video sir.
It was so fun to watch. I made similar but for motorbike, attaching to a custom waist and shoulder belt. I am using a6600 with sigma 16mm and zhiyun weebill s. The footage are useable but not very smooth on rough surface.
PL you gotta patent your DIY inventions 😂😂😂. Any chance of building a VR cyber suite to make me as good a filmmaker as you? 😂😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
I use a device that I 3d printed that removes z axis bounce that would be great for this. Amazon also makes one for the Osmo Pocket for a reference. I reviewed these devices and work very well. they use what looks like a automobile control arm with a spring. Very fun video loved your idea.
Might have a solution for this but I’ll have to wait a few months 👀
Peter, A.K.A. " The Ragnar Lothbrok of RUclips" , this was a fun video to watch! I liked everything about it (except for the actual footage from the Sony) and like Ragnor, I think this will be a great endeavor for you to eventually conquer. That cable suspension was brilliant. Keep up the great work!
Am I the only one who enjoyed the footage of the car and the setup more than the footage it captured?
I did too
you the great bro
Very nice video dude
Värsta projektet! XD
Nice!
Can you run catalyst browse on that footage? It seems like the perfect case scenario
I just showed this video to a room full of people that said they would rather watch less quality footage that’s smoother.
