The tracking shot looked more stable with the gimble than with the KALA
there's a problems with damping arm, makes Movi XL looks bad, I'd say biased review
camera car looked way unbalanced
thats bcs of Image stabilization, Cinema cams like red or arri dont have any. But on the A7Siii u have great IS.
Yea black arm was optimized. Also, no stabilization in post, vs the Sony using IS in lens and sensor.

actually agree, I think last frame was just autofocus issue, but overall quite nice result with ziyun!
@@antonsemenyura5337 definitely! Maybe using a Sony A1 instead of an A7S3 would have made the 3rd shot way better, in terms of AF.

Dude, give me the handheld all day. Your shots were so much smoother. Their rig was so bouncy it didn’t matter that their rig could focus and pan more accurately. Keeping it smooth is much less distracting.
Their rig bounces like 3 feet up and down
Part of this is because the black arm did not look propel stabilized. Also, the post production side of it. Sony lenses have IS, red does not. Also, it doesn’t look like he even graded the red footage. Seems like the car was half built and the footage wasn’t adjusted in post.
@@ReadySetGoPictures you keep defending kala lol it was balanced and I shoot with a bmpcc4k on a crane 3s no stabilization and it looks just like weebil THERES no excuses lol
@@BloomfieldProductions congrats. Ive been a gimbal tech on blackarms, ronin 2, xl, movi and shotovers and can very much tell when the system isn't balanced. In the same way you could tell your crane 3 is off balance. So yes, there is an excuse - the fact that their system was off. So yea, the weebill looked smoother, but it wasn't because the weebill is a more capable platform lol.

Honestly when you got to the last parallel tracking, I was blown away that it looked THAT good. Tech has come so far and no one should have an excuse to not make it happen 😭 me included

The parallel tracking test (last one) Kala looked more in focused than Sony.
But yeah that was a sweet vid!

I did a shoot using the original Weebill Lab shoiting from the back of a convertible Mustang and following some models in a Prowler. Fast forward a few years and i just got the Weebill 2 and it's first job is filming a bunch of 18 wheelers. These high speed assignments are so fun!
As long as you get the shot. Art Over Comfort. But that was awesome!!

Those shots off the KALA rig have that big-budget feeling of groundedness, which adds TREMEMDOUSLY to the sense of speed and motion. There's some vibration & judder, but controlled, and it makes everything feel bigger and more excited. Super difficult to get that from a handheld system. Maybe in post?

What I have noticed on this series is that as long as you know what you are doing, you can get a really professional looking footage. Like it'll get you 99% there, but that 1% makes all the difference when it comes to the big screen.

When you look at the price difference there really wasn't THAT much quality difference, you did a banger job, i've hung my zhiyun out of a few moving cars and it's not the easiest, props to you :)

This is impressive work, honestly I love these videos because while it shows the highest craft involved it also shows what you can do with a little bit of gear and a great vision. Obviously missed focus on the last shot, but a second round would have got you there no problem. Plus if you had transmitted with weebil's focus and transmitter controller monitor thingy, heck you could have had a focus puller too! I think the toughest flaw with the lighter weight gimbals is just the torque put on the roll axis. It's still really difficult to maintain a level horizon when a car's acceleration is fighting you. That's where the Movi XL really shows the difference. Oh yah and unfortunately on a large film set you might not get that next take or that next opportunity, when it's a one shot deal, using the big tools is sometimes a no brainer.
Damn that was an epic video, more of these comparisons coz they're really fun to watch

Fantastic! It was really close on the tracking & wrap-around shots. Kala definitely shined on the parallel track, but I think if you had had more zoom, it would have been much closer. Great job!
