I spent all day going through RUclips videos and blogs trying to figure out why my USB port was not being recognized and malfunctioning. 15 hours later, I realized my USB cord had wear and tear on it. The tiny copper wires were barely sticking out through different areas of the cord. I used a different cord and all was recognized and not malfunctioning anymore.

If that cord is ripped, cut or frayed, the computer will not recognize any device you use with that cord. It is always good to check for wear and tear on any cords you have.

What worked for me was to power reboot the PC by holding the power button down for 40 seconds, then powering the PC back up. Hope this helps.

Thanks, 2nd option worked for me. My USB detected only phone, flashdrive, card reader - but didn't do anything when plugged an infrared camera with USB-C plug - now it detect's it properly - at least for now.

I'ma try this case I have a transmitter frsky and I plug in and it said it didn't recognize the device . But the PC talks the radio for power or charging the batter it won't open the radios info on the SD card.. to bk up the firmware and to change the firmware .

The letter changing is done for which partition? I do not have any E on mine. Only C and D. And usually the USB stick that I connect to the laptop are either E or F, but if they are not recognized when plugging them in how do I change the letter, since they won't even appear connected?

This was another drive letter the presneter had installed, perhaps another USB flash labled as E and causing a conflict with another device. Changing the USB drive letter in disk management can remove the conflict. Also leave the USB stick inserted an reboot and see if recognized. Also check if the USB stick is okay but inserted into another PC.
