- Mustang Episode 17 TrackSpec Hood Vent Install:
On this episode I installed the center hood vent from TrackSpec Motorsports onto my S550 Ford Mustang. This vent can be used for all S550 Mustangs although the outers are specific to Mustangs from 2015-2017. The install can be a bit scary but overall if you are cautious and use plenty of blue tape and measure many many times it can all go as planned. The Hood louver set is priced well and is great looking on the car if you are into the vents. Plus the added bonus of they actually work amazing to get the heat out of the engine bay.

Vented hood made a huge improvement on cooling for my s550
I knew it would be vital if I wanted to track it in the summer months. Plus I think it looks awesome!
Looks really good
I like the look it gives the car plus the cooling factor
very nice 👌 have you seen the spacers for the hinges, is lifts the rear of the hood next to the windshield.
That’s old school
Looks great! What cutting disks did u use?
Just cheap ones from Amazon for cutting metal
It came out really good! looking to do mine soon! After you cut the hood, what was your next step before Installing the vent ?
Test fit a million times. Also I would recommend cleaning the edges up really nice
@@JagerRacing I seen the gap between the bottom and top of the hood did you leave it like that? Or fill it? TIA for the Info man.
Does it deliver regarding reducing the front end lift / light steering at high speeds?
I mean that might be a stretch, add a splitter and it helps haha
This is a very dumb question, but do you have to worry about a torrential downpour with a vented hood?
I mean I don’t, but I live in SoCal. Overall they can get pretty dang wet before any issues and if driving it’s fine.I have heard people with certain intakes throwing some maf codes but seems super uncommon.
Do you have a link to the tool that you utilized to cut the hood initially? Thank you!
Compact Cut Off Tool Kit,12.0V,Li-Ion www.amazon.com/dp/B07H5SZPWV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_9RJWN2J8KB72R06YBDQA
Great tool that I have found many uses for.
@@JagerRacing Thank you!
Do you know if the center vent will clear a roush supercharger?
I don’t know for sure. It doesn’t seem like it is any lower than the hood
Are you not worried about it rusting at the rivets? Didn't see you touch them up with primer/paint
They are black rivits from them. Although I did do some black touch up later on.
@@JagerRacing I’m talking about where you drilled holes for the rivets. Did you touch those holes up?
@@jeoffbenzos4959 nope I live in socal sooo not worried
@@JagerRacing thanks for the tutorial man. I’m gonna do this soon. You liking it so far?
@@jeoffbenzos4959it was great, but my hood got messed up by a wrap and I actually just swapped it for a carbon hood.
Wow that's a lot of vents
Vent the world!
@@JagerRacing vent my booty lmao
what do you do when it rains? can you close the vent?
Cannot close the vent, I store in a garage and it’s not my primary car but with that said if it rains it gets a bit wet. Not the end of the world.
Did u see change in engine temps?
Hard to say an exact number but you can visibly see the heat exiting the hood?
What blue tape did you use ?
Any standard painters tape 3M is a good trusted brand
