Back then, I think the fantasy of the female audience was not to have sex with some sexy actor, but for someone who would be a loving caring husband instead of their real life one, hence their attraction to 張活游 .Bing Crosby was the Hollywood example of that.

The singing voice seemed to match his voice, and it was not particularly demanding singing, so it was not impossible that he could do it. There were so many available to do it, why would they cast him and have to dub his singing,

小時候, 196x年代, 聽老人家說, 梅綺搖頭讚賞, 原因是在看完梅綺電影後, 他說原來報載是梅綺從來沒有學過粵劇大戲, 唱造戲曲, 沒有根底. 可是只要她演出的粵語大戲電影, 造手唱曲的功架, 絶不比大佬倌遜色, 看這一套電影便可知道了. 梅綺的演出不亞於粵劇世家的白雪仙.
Where did you hear that about 梅綺? She was related to 南海十三郎, that should tell you something. During the war, she was in the same theater troupe as 馬師曾.
這齣荔枝記和我所看過亦是由張活游主演的陳三五娘有些不同。是否張生曾經拍過另外一齣同名電影。
