Bilbo originally won the ring fair and square, his interaction with Gollum in The Hobbit was rewritten when the ring became a cursed object for LotR's plot
Haven’t seen ”Deadman’s hand” mentioned in the comments! Has about the same effect as Freezing band aswell as afaik being THE lowest level epic you could obtain, only requiring level 29 in Classic. I’ll never forget getting it on my first character and the one time it saved my life from being ganked in STV.
I was going to comment about it. It is a crazy item. It dropped for my friend's 39 frost mage twink; it made our duels so one sided sometimes. Specially since I was a Warrior. If only I got as lucky as him and had Pendulum of Doom drop haha.
The bloodthorn ring is a reference to the wheel of times ring, Bloodknife ring. " With a touch of the user's blood, the ter'angreal grants the wearer incredible strength and speed, as well as the ability to shroud themselves in shadows. The ring drastically shortens a person's lifespan, "
Underworld Band had to be worth a mention. It was unique in that it was BiS for level 39 twink locks (and beyond), and you could equip two of them, as I did. It was the shadow equivalent of the Freezing Band, which did get mentioned.
Wrath of Cenarius is my favorite ring, no stats but a 5% chance in spell hit to give 132 SP (in classic), with no internal CD. Every enemy hit by a Paladin's Consecration had a chance to proc.
I remember people rolling on the gemstones for the ring of ascension and having no idea what they were used for. God I hated farming for it. Reminds me of one time during vanilla we had this guy loot the Defias gunpowder in Deadmines, not know what it was used for, and then deleted it. All in the span of like 20 seconds before others asked him to use the canon, and he had to admit to his terrible crime. God, one of my biggest pet peeves in MMOs is when people loot shit they have no idea what it does, and then squander it.
The Jeweled Signet of Melandrus was nerfed into the Ground and will never see high level play again because of that, it when from a flat 10% damage increase to adding 36 damage to your post attackpower calculated auto attack damage. so say your auto attack damage is 500 dps well now its 536 dps.
In vanilla I heard a rumor, that there's a bug that when a warrior equips a fishing pole as the weapon, certain abilities will check your fishing skill instead of weapon skill. And because you can stack fishing skill with buffs, the main tank will get the arcanite fishing pole, swap to it on certain crucial skills in raids for higher accuracy.
I think you should have made an Honorable mention of the "Mark of the Dragon Lord" from Lower Blackrock Spires as its use Effect gives the player an absorption shield that lasts until depleted or for 30 min, wile the shield is active it gives the player a Shadow Orb effect which is pretty cool. I wish they had added the Orb effects as a passive to some items or as enchant visuals as homage to Warcraft 3's Orb items.
I love your videos. As an on again/off again player of the game, its a great way to learn about expansions I missed. On that topic: I'd love a top 10 list/history of M+ affixes (standard and/or seasonal). I've loved M+ this expac but missed Legion and BFA.
what rings are those? cause we are talking at the times not now where almost every ring can be obtained at level 10. classic.wowhead.com/items/armor/rings#0+3+2+19
A lot of them were from jwc, I stopped playing after MoP, so they were maybe removed. If you were comparing it to today wow, then I am sorry, must have missed it, thought the whole video is about all datadisks.
I like that you show the warlock rings an example for the Tier Set Rings: (5:17), because while the AQ20 set ring is incredibly good for the warlock compared to the same ring for other classes, the T3 ring (dropped by Kel'thuzad, the ultimate boss of Vanilla), is very poor compared to other rings available. Oddly enough, the AQ20 ring is probably just better than the T3 for warlocks due to the hit+crit on it. And since there is no 9 items set bonus, you are never really prompted to use that crappy T3 ring and complete the full set.
I won the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza twice. The Fishing Rod was fun, they buffed it a little and it was good all the way up to Cataclysm for pure +fishing but the legendary fishing pole outranked it in all other stats and bonuses.
the one from upper blackrock spire that drops from last boss and (at least used to) have like 0.1% drop chance is super cool too it gives u this cool dark circle spinning around you :v I think the drop chance has been increased a lot since shadowlands, though, for some reason it's my favourite ring the animation around you is so cool
i used seal of accension and most mages on arugal coppied the build for when we were selling scarlet monestery boosts. was one of the best frost resist items i think i had near 150 frost resist, good for cath where frost bolts can cook a run, i also tried for monthns to get the chest of the optional boss in ubrs pyroclasmic something its got +20 to near all resist stats, from what i could tell it was hands down the best chest for farming most dungeons
I love your videos Hiru, thanks for everything and please keep them coming. I've actually played wow since vanilla beta. Me and a few friends played SW Galaxies and 1 of them said we should try this new mmo out. The rest is history:)
i think you missed one ring, it was a ring that dropped from the final boss of LBRD called "mark of the dragon lord", it was a purple ring that gave you mana regen, this was the toolip "A protective mana shield surrounds the caster absorbing 500 damage. While the shield holds, increases mana regeneration by 22 every 5 sec for 30 min. (30 Min Cooldown)" it also gave you a cool BLACK power word shield effect, honestly as long you did not took any damage, this ring was BIS
One of the rings from the white ring vendor used to sell a ring that removed the character's walking animation for some reason. I remember finding this in Legion/BfA. Sad it got patched it was pretty funny. Only thing I could find about it at the time was a reddit post with only a few comments.
The Legion ring is not the only item that increases autoattack damage, the Fiery Plate Gauntlets from vanilla also used to add some fire damage to your weapon swings, which could be increased with %fire damage increases from buffs or vulnerabilities, and also decreased by resistances! craftable by any blacksmith that did the quest!
Hiru, maybe in the future you could make a video about the TWD mounts? like, why the TWD from WoTLK is a horse, and I remember watching one of your vids saying that the green jade serpent maybe will never made it to the game because it's basically one of the august celestials. I don't know, things like that. I wish we had more mounts/pets/transmog for TWD and more content, not only Ulduar and BT, more expansion features, and also from TWD from Vanilla (maybe I want this last because I don't play Classic). Sorry for this, thanks for the videos.
Top 10 out of place npcs!!! Not out of the way (as in hidden or hard to find) but more like npcs that are in a questing area, sub zone, zone, or hub that makes no sense (or the hard to come up with some bonkers reason for them to be present) I have no suggestions for this list tho
I would bet I found my Black Ice way before cata, which I wasn't playing. I'm nearly sure it was in classic, maybe BC. I found it in stranglethorn and it was just an item I carried around in my inventory. When I was logging back in 7,5 years later, it had become a toy.
Band of Icy Depths, and yeah, it was from the Scepter quest, and I was surprised to see it excluded from this list, given it's the only ring I've been using through every expansion since vanilla.
Maybe the item "Precious Bloodthorn Loop" isn't ONLY a reference to LotR,but to Jesus Christ too? 🤔 You know, the ring of thorns Jesus wore on his head the day he was crussified? Just saying.
Back in TBC or WOTLK ( cant remember which one) my mage had an epic ring that dropped from The Scarlet Monastery , i think it was called "Deadman's hand" , but it had that same freeze proc effect as the Freezing Band , difference was that the ring "icon" looked really really cool. Was removed when cata came out , i dont think alot of people remember that item, cool item considering it was an epic that dropped from a boss in a lvl 35-40 ish dungeon.
While it is interesting, there is a staff that does the exact same thing but better (as you can equip/unequip weapons in combat, while rings you cannot) and much easier (as it comes from a low level dungeon's first boss) so it didnt feel right being on the list.
@@hirumaredx Fair point, forgot about the staff actually. Just surprised that it didn't show considering the acquisition and rarity of it. Still a cool vid, appreciate what you do.
@@hirumaredx If you are going by that standard, a chunk of the rings in this list don't count because there is another item slot that does the same thing. The benefit for the Band of Icy Depths is that for multiple expansions it served as a way to get permanent water breathing in a slot that could afford to lose the BiS stats. It also worked for all classes unlike Staves which cannot be used by 4 classes, though Demon Hunter can be ignored as it wasn't available while the ring was obtainable.
Request here. I would like to see the Top 10 unique Trinkets. I don't know if it was already posted. I will check to see if it was and delete this comment. My favorite trinket is Darkmoon Card: Madness. The other trinket I thought was funny was for a melee class (I can't remember, warrior or pally) where it would proc and the character would throw a full tree at the target.
I really liked the mechagon agility trinket, the visual is just great, seeing a bike ramming into a target and exploding, ive also seen a new trinket in upcoming raid, youll basically be able to cast similar spell like anduin did in bfa trailer, the holy word salvation, i think thats pretty cool
I earned nearly 200k gold (horde side) by buying and selling alliance only recipes by making an alliance DK. I had 2 accounts at the time and sold them to myself on the neutral AH. Then sold them on the horde AH, I was one of the first to figure this out.
I greatly enjoy reliving vanilla vicariously through these videos. Cheers
You can actually relive with classic
Come play classic with us! We're on regularly :)
Bilbo originally won the ring fair and square, his interaction with Gollum in The Hobbit was rewritten when the ring became a cursed object for LotR's plot
he technically still won fair and square, since no rules were established.
This channel and MadSeason just give me best the feels.
I came to say this as well. Although Deadmans hand was even higher freeze chance if I remember correctly.
Added in tbc, and while it was true it was the lowest level epic, it has not been for a long time now.
I was going to comment about it. It is a crazy item. It dropped for my friend's 39 frost mage twink; it made our duels so one sided sometimes. Specially since I was a Warrior. If only I got as lucky as him and had Pendulum of Doom drop haha.

its just a ring with +X spelldamage on it, while it was cool, its not really "unique"
5:46 t6 in TBC has 8 - pieces as well due to Sunwell dropping the off set pieces of tier for it
Wrath of Cenarius is my favorite ring, no stats but a 5% chance in spell hit to give 132 SP (in classic), with no internal CD. Every enemy hit by a Paladin's Consecration had a chance to proc.
for 12:40, vanilla had "Might of Cenarius" which increased weapon damage by 4, which i would call close to increasing auto attack damage
Deadman's hand ftw, the lowest level Epic in game with a level req of 29, while the lowest BOE epic was level 35
I remember people rolling on the gemstones for the ring of ascension and having no idea what they were used for. God I hated farming for it.

its still pretty good for duel wielding classes I believe, especially if you run with an enh shaman often
Still think they should make a ring called "The Ring" or "Ringu" and have it periodically spawn a ghoul.
I loved the rep rings in BC and Wotlk. From Hyjal and ICC
My favorite very unique one is... the Earthen Ring.
When they first brought in scaling some of the stats on the one ring changed to +2.
WTF archveldor!
I had no idea rings could be this interesting, wow

You left out the The "D" Ring. "When the "C" ring just doesn't get the job done."
Other rings you could get at level 10-15 had +1 spirit / +1 int / +2 stam / +2 strenght, you are showing rings 15+ :D
Wasn't number 10 a ring that could be worn at level 10?
@@daisycarbonell yea, and he compared it to similar level rings, but in fact, he compared it to a slightly higher level rings 😄
@@thomassleziak1222 Oh, my bad. I haven't watched it yet

A ring video in February this close to valentine? Are you proposing Hiru?

I dropped Freezing Band in classic. Instant 700g when I was level 56. It dropped in Ashara while I was farming silk

I missed Mechagon Rings. They were quite unique.
I really appreciate your content, I look forward to every upload
As a druid flag carrier that pushed rank 13 can confirm; 2 freezing bands works and is absolutely worth it for duration of you playing the druid lmao
Discovered you through duel logs and Yu-Gi-Oh content, and now I found out you make wow content too, you're awesome lol
What about the ICC rings? The rep reward ones that had a special effect at max rep
the rings from brood of norzdomu (AQ20/40) were also like them.
Great video Hiru!

How dumb do you have to be to compare 2 completely different things??
What a fun video! Never heard of most of these
Just what i needed while im waiting the last 7 minutes for the SoM servers to come up! XD
the fact that the 2 ring gives +3s now really shows how much blizz doesnt give a shit about their game anymore
Funny how the Jeweled Signet of Melandrus is relevant yet again because Court of Stars is in the Mythic+ rotation
i was looking for a new video to watch, this hit the spot. thanks for such good, interesting content ^_^
where Mark of the Dragon Lord? this shit has the most rare visual effect
Hiru, maybe in the future you could make a video about the TWD mounts? like, why the TWD from WoTLK is a horse, and I remember watching one of your vids saying that the green jade serpent maybe will never made it to the game because it's basically one of the august celestials. about heirloom ring - you dont need to be second - it is more like 1 person out of 50 on EUNE for example, or something like that
Interesting you have the Court of Stars rings but not the "If then" Ring sets from Mechagon

The ring at number 2 is really cool!
1, 2, 5 is also a Monty Python and the Holy Grail reference. In the film King Arthur keeps messing up his counting.
You should do a top ten most unique and rare hunter pets

I have a ring on an old toon that allows underwater breathing. I want to say it was from the scepter quest.
Band of Icy Depths, and yeah, it was from the Scepter quest, and I was surprised to see it excluded from this list, given it's the only ring I've been using through every expansion since vanilla.
Precious Bloodthorn Loop is regularly used in lvl 20 twinking nowadays :)
wait... people still twink?
Maybe the item "Precious Bloodthorn Loop" isn't ONLY a reference to LotR,but to Jesus Christ too? 🤔 You know, the ring of thorns Jesus wore on his head the day he was crussified? Just saying.
Are you sure that the legendary neck from mc had a visual? I always thought, it was a myth
Aw, what about Ramaladni's ring that allows underwater breathing? Also, nice backgrounds!
weapons tier last time in Vainilla?
and what's in BfA Jaina Proudmoore sword + Proudmoore ring?
class tier set is the specific. there has been set weapons in the game, but it was the only time it was part of a class based tier set.
You could also get to Dal by Flight master , using the portal on the ground or flying in and parachauting down
How about the D ring from Wrath ?
It's a quest reward from K3, Storm Peaks.
They also changed the Troy black ring I have one.. it doesn’t appear on the characters anymore the buff is still up though
I will never forget : The "D" Ring, it was such a meme in world chat haha
Also the 1, 2, 5 is a nod to Monty Python and the Holy Grail with the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.
Your biggest fan here! I love you dude!
Still have my 5 Ring, no one wanted to buy it for a million gold, so eventually I simply put it on and never looked back.

No word on The Seal of Danzalar from TBC. Optional boss drop, literally tailor made for moonkin pvp or tank.

rextroy still uses that precious bloodthorn loop for some pvp shenanigans
There was a weapon damage ring from jewel crafting as well
Surprised the Band of Icy Depths wasn't on this list. Super cool ring from AQ Gates chain that lets you breathe underwater.
I was about to comment the same thing. Super rare ring these days

i still havent won that Dread Pirate Ring, maybe with less players on lately i'll win this time as everyone else is busy with the X-45 Heartseeker.
In german, the 1 ring is called the same, but the 2 ring is called, "The other Ring" translated
i swear the add at the start of the video was a zales jewelry add about some new rings they had
How could you miss the Band of Icy Depths? Gained through the questline to unlock the AQ gates it gave unlimited water breathing while worn.
Because there is a staff that comes from a entry level dungeon that does the same thing, but better, because you can equip/unequip it in combat.

Im pretty sure the fishing event from Wrath was on Saturdays non Sunday
Yes, the one in northend was on Saturdays. The stranglethorn one was on Sundays.
I suspect the 5 ring was also a gag reference to an old schoolyard joke based on homophones.
"Why was 6 afraid of 7? Because 7 ate 9."
Jeweled Signet was good before they nerefed it, it used to be "by 10%" not by static number. It's mostly useless nowdays even for Time Walking sets.
