Thank you so much for the kind shout out Mazzy ;) This is an album/band I really need to investigate a bit more. I dug the samples your were playing and Little Feat is a band I had a tendency to skip over. If I recall correctly, Fremer said he liked the original Mofi the best as well.
Its Sunday Afternoon, 19th January 1975, Little Feat Walk onto The Stage at The Rainbow And Produce One of The Greatest Concerts Ever.....Did They Blow The Doobies Away ? Not really Because They Also put on a Great Show Too.....But in My Opinion Any Home That Does Not Have Waiting For Columbus in Any version Under Their Rafters is Not A Home...Another great Video Mazzy
Little Feat is such a great, unique band. I was late to learning of them (1985) but my first exposure was this record. Absolutely correct in stating its one of the great live albums of all time. I’ve been enjoying the new box set with the additional shows from this time period.
Hey Norman...First, Thank you for the last couple years of wonderfully insightful record chat. Hopefully there is more to come. Like yourself, I also grew up in the music business, but in the audio video photography retail world starting right out of college in 1976. As a aging music nut like yourself, I often think to myself.....with the years I have left in this world, how much of my recorded music could I listen to if I started listening to records tomorrow 8 hours a day ? could I even get thru my collection? Part 2 is, if I broke out my top 100 desert island records... And just listened to them .....would I get more enjoyment ? Just possible food for thought or subject matter for a upcoming video. Peace
Yes indeed a great album- I also saw them only once- Swansea(Wales)1976- they were terrific- Lowell throwing maracas into the crowd- Tripe face boogie really kicked along and got the crowd going- I met Ritchie Hayward several years later at a gig in Birmingham- what a privilege - he was a very special drummer. I love the great story Lowell tells of meeting Howling Wolf. Keep up the good work Mr Maslov.
I'm a longtime, big-time Feat fan, and this is one of my favorite albums of theirs and a favorite live LP. May I also recommend the fall 2021 RSD release, Electrif Lycanthrope: Live at Ultra-Sonic Studios, 1974? It was a boot for many years, and this is the cleaned up version. It captures a slightly humbler version of the band, not quite as big sounding a performance as captured on Waiting..., but it stands as a great live recording in its own right.
@Gary Kuhlmann. I managed to buy a CD copy of "Electrif Lycanthrope" on the Smokin' Records label back in 2014. The tracks on the CD are not in the same order as the vinyl record version. The medley of "Spanish Moon/Skin It Back/Fatman In The Bathtub" is broken up into single tracks. However I made a CD copy, put the tracks in the same order as my vinyl copy and they merged back into the medley. Plus there is an "encore" medley of "Cold, Cold, Cold/Dixie Chicken/Tripe Face Boogie", but they are possibly from another concert. You may already know this. Apparently there were only ever 5000 copies pressed of the vinyl record. Have you heard "Aurora Backseat" bootleg from the Santa Monica Civic Theatre in 1973? Or "Rampant Syncopatio" from 1975? There is a recording of LF called "Live In Italy" which is I believe an edit/re - hash of 'Syncopatio. I've been listening to LF since 1975 (I am 66 years on this Earth) and they are just the best! Stay safe and well
Thank You, for the education on Little Fee, two Albums made it to the shops after being on the OGWT. You didn't say The Move was better with Jeff Lynne and ELO not as good after Roy Wood leaving! Great Video!
I have all Little Feat albums, as soon as I heard they were Mick Jaggers favourite band back in 1974, they soon became my favourite band of the 1970’s!
The new BG version sounds awesome on my Sonus Faber Lumina III’s, I’m thinking of upgrading to those B&W 702’s, but I’m also considering the Focal Aria 926’s, any opinions?? Thanks not a big deal just curious😎🤘
I'd never heard of Little Feat till I saw them open for the Stones in Stuttgart, West Germany, back in '75, and they fucking killed it. Blew the Stones away, and I'm huge Stones fan. One of my Top 10 concerts.
I bought that album when it first came out. It is as playing inside the record store at Eliston Place, Nashville TN. It sounded great so I bought it. It is still one of my favorites 😎
Sold! To the man ( Me) who was not supposed to be buying LPs for a while. Whatcha doing to me Mazlov ? (Only kidding !) I'm just so weak when it comes down to the ' Feat ✌

Good stuff...just started to get into LF a few years ago and now listen to the entire collection on vinyl regularly! A side note on this album...one of my favorite guitarists of all time...Mick Taylor...plays the slide on A Apolitical Blues...cheers👍
I,m a big LF fan Own all their albums. Played the crap out of this one also. But I think subtle sound differences aren't clear on a YT video soundtrack. So telling that you made the comparision and highlighting the results is problaby a better choice if you want to do this again sometime.
@Norman Maslov. "Willin' " has also been covered by Steve Earle and Brooks & Dunn. Lowell used to introduce the song saying something like "If you got it, a truck brought it". But apparently this was a quote from the American workers union leader Jimmy Hoffa. I read somewhere that the "whites" in that line in the chorus were the name of a brand of truck (White). IMHO the best take of Billy Payne's piano solo on this song is from the live bootleg "Electrif Lycanthrope" from 1974, closely followed by the take from another live bootleg called "Beak Positive". Keep up the good work sir! Stay safe and well.

As you said, comparing different pressings isn’t something most of us will do and likely be happy with whatever we have as a pressing. That being said, I’ve enjoyed the experience on a few special albums to A/B pressings. I bought the 2017 180 gram Boston first album and loved it. I then heard Tim @ University of Vinyl talk about the original as mastered by Wally Traugott and saw one at a local used record shop so I grabbed it. Wow. Night & day sound difference. The 180 gram had been fine but compared to the Wally pressing it was bass filled and ‘muddy’. The Wally was clear and things like the hand clapping were so crisp. Overall it really screamed the sound of rock and roll from ‘76. I’ll be selling the 180 at my next yard sale and someone will get a great album.
Mazzy! You influencer you! Is that a dirty word? I was fortunate to see LF 2 times in the 70's. First time was the tour that was around the time this live album was recorded . One of the great live bands. The trick these days is finding a original vinyl copy of WFC that hasn't been played to death. In my 80's used record store employee days remember buying a few copies that had pot residue that fell out of the records :) Haven't heard the 79 original MOFI in years but was never a fan of their old EQ'ing in general. These have gotten pricey like most OOP MOFI's on the used market. I was given a promo of the 2011 MOFI by a friend in the biz. Got it out and played it after all the hub bub online. It's not as bad as Fremer and some other folks would have you believe. Haven't heard the new Rhino/Grundman cut but I would suspect anyone who wants a copy should probably buy this and be happy.
Very cool stuff! I had seen this album around but never heard it before and after watching Michael's video and listening to some tracks I picked this one up at my local shop...was not disappointed in the slightest. Between this and the Europe 72 it's been a weekend of great sonics brought to us by Rhino and Bernie Grundman Mastering... Will be spinning this one for years to come I'm sure...
Wesome video Mazzy..I love this album and just picked up the new Bernie Grundman release..Haven’t had a chance to spin it yet but very excited to do so..👍❤glen
Little Feat💘 Richie Hayward❤🥁Long time British fan. Had the original albums on vinyl, but got 'Columbus' taped from CD. I have the 'Sailin Shoes' MOFI 2008 CD, absolute killer💥So Easy To Slip😊Shame their finest recorded live performance is a radio broadcast 'Ultrasonic Studios 1974', but still absolutely essential. Having a mint OG I'll spin the new one to compare, but a buddy has the '79 MoFi, which he loves, but in a shootout a couple years back he preferred the OG. He also had the latter MoFi, hated it. Being a reviewer back in the day (and still am) I got a lot of records from Warners/Reprise, all were well recorded, well mastered, well pressed. Great album from that era was Chunky, Novi & Ernie, so check it out.
The MSFL 1979 release probably will be the best overall the others ,Made strait from the master tapes about a couple of years after the concert , it only makes sense that it would be.. . The latest MOFI got a bad review from another you tuber ..
Diggin overall opinions on this one! I have 3 copies left over today, but... First was the OG 1978 cassette (yellow paper label) Second was a "survival copy" cassette of that OG tape (had sticky shed) Third was a trashed OG 1978 Burbank label LP Fourth was a clean 'stripes' label 1st reissue (Canadian WEA put a maple leaf on all back covers into mid-80s) Fifth copy was the more recent Warner/Rhino "expanded" 2CD set (for $2!!!!) Got enough copies...
hey mazzy...love little feat...saw them live back in the day and played the vinyl of feats don't fail me now thru the wax...used to have waiting for columbus, and, just going by your three comparisons, i would say that i liked the first sound the best...the second one was a bit muddy, and the third one, while mastered well, sounded more like a studio album than a live one, and i like my live albums to sound a little loose, a little dirty...but all three were still great feat...no complaints...peace always my friend...rocky
Ok. I'll play. I paused the video after all 3 played. Now taken into consideration that Im listening to this from vinyl played on your system, recorded digitally on your device digitized through youtube, sent to my computer and played though my speakers (certainly not the best way to do a true comparison listen, I'll say that the second one was the best, the first one was second best, and the 3rd one was my least fav. Ok. Now that I've stuck my neck out, back to the video.
The last time I saw a MOFI copy of WFC (about seven years ago) it was used, in VG+ shape and they wanted $150 for it. I didn't buy it. May pick up the BG cut from Rhino, I'm a fan of that series of reissues. I have the original CD release with a couple of songs deleted, and the newer CD release that restored those tracks and added more. Agree, it's one of the best live albums of all time.
I was really surprised that I could hear a difference through youtube. Definately peferred the second disc , (Grundman), liked the punch in the snare that really stood out in this clip. From here the mofi sounded a bit "tame" or flat, but of cource when in the room things may sound way different.
Good grief Mazzy- Ive been looking for a new copy of WFC for years - my copy is somewhat knackered.! Well, thats got me thinking... You should look at the new version of Happy Trails against the original. Im almost in favour of the fuzzy original. Totally brilliant observations mate.
I have the original and the '79 MOFI. I prefer the MOFI by a long shot. Much better deep bass. Mastered better to take advantage of the info on the tape. I have a later CD which has all the cuts in proper order as well as additional cuts, mixed to various extents, which are wonderful. It also includes dialogue about the making of WFC with Payne, Barrere, and one other who discuss the editing of WFC, overdubs, etc, and a bit of the tension between the band and Lowell. Wonderful to have.
@@cjMbuck I heard it on a now long off air album rock station here in Houston in 1987-1988, and they said that theirs was a reissue as a double set with two bonus tracks. Not sure if that version was released to the public or not though, as I only recall seeing the WFC cd in 1989.
@@georgeprice4212 Rino released WFC in 2002. Along with the original tracks in proper order it included; one love stand, rock and roll doctor, skin it back, on your way down, walkin all night, cold cold cold, day that teh dog races, skin it back, red streamliner, teenage nervouse breakdown. Different venues and mixes . It has a booklet in which the band discusses making the album and how Lowell was difficult to work with. As they said, he always had one foot on the platform, and the other on the train.
I Totally agree. MFSL releases mastered by Stan Ricker and pressed on JVC vinyl like, Crystal Gayle, we just believe in magic. Emmylou Harris, Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town. Ry Cooder, Jazz and many more are still unbeaten.
What does it say? Records dropping flat on a carpet or a smooth floor don’t get damaged. I have records I bought 40-50 plus years are that are still pristine. In fact most of mine are. Still ✌🏼
@@mazzysmusic You are right, you can do with your records whatever you want, none of my business. I suppose you share my point of view though, that a record can be a piece of art and under certain circumstances can change the way you look at things. For instance, the song "Beside you" by the mighty Iggy Pop made me feel alive many times. I would never drop "American Caesar" on the floor, even if it was smooth. I take a look at the cover, I put the record on, I sing with Iggy and appreciate the work thy did. My approach. Laughable? That's ok.
"most normal people don't have multiple copies of the same album" *bows head in shame as I look at my Led Zeppelin collection*! If it's an album I really like, I usually own at least 2-3 different pressing! Never listened to Little Feat before. The BG cut sounds excellent, don't really feel the need to get another copy! Also picked up the non-rsd (Kevin Grey) reissue of Electrif Lycanthrope: Live at Ultra-Sonic Studios, 1974. Sounds just as good!
I'm a lifetime musician and really don't discern myself with audiophile differences......if it's a decent recording ( obviously it is)....I bought the original in 78.......the single cd in 93?...... and just ordered the cd version box set.......Im sure it will sound just fine.......I am however a little snobby when it comes to Little Feat and prefer the Lowell George era any day.......post Lowell George songwriting/performance is excellent just not my cup of tea........
I was laughing so harder I was crying. I'm listening to you do comparisons on what is probably a $30,000 rig on my HP Pavilion Laptop. Sure, I can tell a difference. "Give me weed......" oh hell, just give me weed. No, on a more serious note. I have an original VG+ copy and wondering if I should replace. I'm sure that original MoFi (the older ones will probably now start to be in greater demand as there is no question, they were all analog) is going for about $200 so, taking a chance with a straight shooter on EBay that says his original copy is MINT (sure, and I have a bridge I want to sell you) then I guess the Bernie Grundmann is the only way to go.
The newer Mofi Waiting For Columbus is even better than the excellent original mofi pressing. I've had both Mofi's for years and it really isn't a contest.
@@mazzysmusic I can respect that. I'm glad you at least heard both. I'm someone who only cares how the finished product sounds and I believe DSD is analog's equivalent.... that said, a point an audio engineer family member said is that there is the conversion back to analog which needs to be considered also. I'm sure they are using the best.... I don't know, I will always care more for what sounds best over the debate. Thank you for taking the time to respond!
I thought the 2nd was the mofi with the bass boosted. I have an og but think I’m gonna pick up the rhino. Thanks mazzy. Liked both the WFC shoot outs. Also really enjoy pdubs posts. Hoping for more.

The MSFL 1979 release probably will be the best overall the others ,Made strait from the master tapes about a couple of years after the concert , it only makes sense that it would be.. . The latest MOFI got a bad review from another you tuber ..
Great review! Are you planning on buying the 8CD box set with the additional shows?
The people should start a class action lawsuit against MOFI
Diggin overall opinions on this one!
I have 3 copies left over today, but...
First was the OG 1978 cassette (yellow paper label)
Second was a "survival copy" cassette of that OG tape (had sticky shed)
Third was a trashed OG 1978 Burbank label LP
Fourth was a clean 'stripes' label 1st reissue (Canadian WEA put a maple leaf on all back covers into mid-80s)
Fifth copy was the more recent Warner/Rhino "expanded" 2CD set (for $2!!!!)
Got enough copies...
One to get is the Stax release of Chico Hamilton “The Master”, Little Feat are backing him, except Richard Hayward of course.
hey mazzy...love little feat...saw them live back in the day and played the vinyl of feats don't fail me now thru the wax...used to have waiting for columbus, and, just going by your three comparisons, i would say that i liked the first sound the best...the second one was a bit muddy, and the third one, while mastered well, sounded more like a studio album than a live one, and i like my live albums to sound a little loose, a little dirty...but all three were still great feat...no complaints...peace always my friend...rocky
Hey! Have you seen 20,000 Days on Earth yet? The Nick Cave film.
Yes. I saw it at a limited theater screening in Seattle ✌🏼
Ok.
Agree, it's one of the best live albums of all time.
little feat i dont listen to a lot. but when i do its all i play for a week. oh by the way still waitin on the silencers 1 step. better be analogue.
The Silencers will have to be a needle drop. Original tapes lost back in the 1960s ✌🏼
@@mazzysmusic somone has them
And they have your tea.
Wait ...I beat Forrest to commenting? That's crazy. Also, my order-guess was totally wrong. : /
Mmm for me the first and last. But the first gets it for me
I wish it was Chris Bellman he is my absolute favourite
Great video again I thought the original sounded the best might be because my ears are old.
That later CD wouldn’t happen to have a baseball park organ with a guy shouting Bonus on it before the extra tracks is it?
@@georgeprice4212 Not that I ever noticed. It's the 2002 Rino release.
The MoFi sounds the best to me
First album
Paul Is My Favorite !!
The OG all day long!
Great video again! What is in the TV?
All the best from Germany Sascha
Eric Clapton guitar festival DVD Awesome concert!
That was an accident. I had a little feat concert in from RUclips and it switched. 🤷🏻♂️
@@mazzysmusic That's ok. I enjoy that DVD. I have several of his guitar festival DVD's.
Yeah I neglected to mention the MoFi was pressed in Japan by jvc ✌🏼
2010 has a green banner and is the best sounding record I own IMHO.
I picked 2-3-1
This is not about the music. This is about audiophile bs and fitties between YT guys.
It’s about a great live Little Feat album and the sound of several copies. Lazy comment on your part 😵💫
The way you throw the records on the floor at the beginning of the video says everything about your real approach.
I suppose you share my point of view though, that a record can be a piece of art and under certain circumstances
can change the way you look at things. For instance, the song "Beside you" by the mighty Iggy Pop made me feel
alive many times. I would never drop "American Caesar" on the floor, even if it was smooth. I take a look at the cover,
I put the record on, I sing with Iggy and appreciate the work thy did. My approach. Laughable? That's ok.
Hello Norman
Can You add subtittles un spanish? There is an option to add subtittles in many languages.
Best wishes from Peru 🇵🇪
That Eric Clapton DVD is distracting me. I have it. Great concert!
Mazzy, I prefer the OG I thought it sounded better than all of them.
All three are really good. Guess it depends on system room and taste 🌟
Are you guys record listeners or geeky comic collectors?
Michael did not have the Mofi to compare. I have the same OG as you and the same Mofi issue as you. I prefer the Mobile Fidelity also.
Wish bass was deeper no 1 sound good to my hears drums are good.
The newer Mofi Waiting For Columbus is even better than the excellent original mofi pressing. I've had both Mofi's for years and it really isn't a contest.
Yeah I feel the opposite. I dint have it but I’ve heard them together in the past
I did like the original, somehow.
I thought the 2nd was the mofi with the bass boosted. I have an og but think I’m gonna pick up the rhino. Thanks mazzy. Liked both the WFC shoot outs. Also really enjoy pdubs posts. Hoping for more.
Feats don't Fail Me Now , everyone should own it 🙂
And all the others. Last Record Album, Dixie Chicken, Sailin Shoes, Time Loves A Hero
Copycat :p Throw some level matched flac samples up. Cant tell anything about these from a listening stand point.
Yeah I don’t do that. Got to BarakaPDub channel. ✌🏼
