Cook Korean TTEOKBOKKI With Us! Best RECIPE, No Added Sugar!

- We're back! And to celebrate, how about you cook along with us and try some DELICIOUS KOREAN TTEOKBOKKI!
This recipe is a bit different from what you'll get on any streetcart in Korea because, there's no added sugar! This is a savoury and more MEATY version of what you'd get. But if you want to, feel free to add sugar back in to get it to the taste level you want 🥰
Also, technically this is a RABOKKI because we added instant noodles, but you can leave them out if you want to 😉
Ingredients:
800ml of Stock
1 Tablespoon of Coarse Red Pepper Flakes
1/3 Cup of Red Pepper Paste
1lb of Rice Cake
Green Onions
300g of Thinly Sliced Beef
Quail Eggs
Instant Noodles

I love that there's no sugar. First time I tried it I was surprised about the sugar flavor.
Same, I did not like that.
I'm Korean & when I went to Korea in 2014, I was shocked at how much added sugar was put into recipes my mom cooked at home without. It turned me off completely & I couldn't eat a lot of street foods.
I'm typing this before even watching the video just to tell you two how much I've missed your content. Also Xander please do the driving series because it seems like it has so much potential.

I just made tteokboki yesterday and I did my own little mix of ingredients I layered in bulgogi with my tteokbokie and added cheese and it's so delicious. I didn't put sugar in mine but I put a tablespoon of honey just to give it a little bit of sweetness and it was really good.

I don't eat tteokbokki often because of the sweetness, so I will definitely be copying this recipe 😃. And I'd much rather have beef instead of the like sausage or hotdogs the recipe usually calls for, so that tip on adding it AND the beef stock is appreciated 👌🏽.

Weird question but i have a broken fridge so i cant keep fresh meat.... would spam and pork stock work? Just want to make sure o could make it i can find shelf stable rice cakes
Need to buy some rice cakes online so I can make this. My closest Asian market is about an hour and a half drive 😭 I've tried to make them at home but I just can't. They turn out horrendous.

With a good stock you don't really need suger. I feel like when its made with plain water, sugar helps balance the spice because the water will just dilute the sauce. But with a good stock! Yuummmmmmmmmmm

@@omaimamounir3904 stock is the what you get when you boil things like chicken, kelp and anchovy, and beef bones to get the rich flavor. You can also say broth.

I am Korean & lemme tell you, it's strange to me to see a lot of Korean cooks putting sugar in their food these days. When I went to Korea in 2014, I couldn't eat a lot of street food because it was unnecessarily sweet. It actually doesn't taste good to me either. I grew up eating most Korean food made without added sugar & my Korean mom moved to the US in 1980 so I believe her recipes are as authentic as you can get lol
My aunt did say a lot of Korean food has sugar in it now because of high school kids lol
I loved the old name, format, edits, so cute. I hate sweet tteokbokki. My mom makes white style with veg and beef and the long white round tteok. She never makes the red pepper one so I knew tteok bokki as beef veg, with threads of egg, never hard boiled, sesame oil, seeds, green onion, carrot, zucchini, onion. No sugar.
You guys should give a life update video because we're all wondering what's going on where you're at now in life!

Gochujang is sweet. There is sugar in it.
You can find homemade gochujang recipes online. Coconut Aminos brand gochujang is sadly discontinued and it had zero sugar so I’m forced to make my own
