  • It's been a while since I did a true experiment. This video was SO MUCH FUN to make because I had no idea what would happen to the paint as I spread it with the bottle and was truly exploring every step of the way!
    Materials used*:
Pure Leaf Iced Tea Bottle (of course): amzn.to/3ShfiRZ
    12"x12" Strathmore Acrylic Paper (400g): amzn.to/3Wul8ln
Nova Color acrylic paint - www.novacolorpaint.com
    Neocolor crayons - amzn.to/3rO5MeO
Comments, questions, and shares are always welcome and appreciated - Thank you for watching!

My most unusual mark making tool is a mascara wand. It makes awesome black marks, wavy or straight. And who doesn’t like black and white?!

Oh yes! I have something similar that I used in an upcoming video - it reminded me so much of mascara as I was using it! ❤️❤️❤️

Speaking of adding lines with a wedge and how it created a more urban , industrial decay feel …was like listening to the thoughts in my head as I have done similar, with similar colors, mark making, that scrap of black& white striped tissue paper (one of my favs) etc. It was like we were channeling each other! 😂😂😂 Love your work and your videos. I hope to get back in my studio after grandkids are all back in school and daycare and i am not traveling!!!

Fun!! One day I went around my house collecting things so that I could make collage paper. I used a fly swatter, an empty lint roller, a few branches of the dead mums, a baster brush, cork from wine, cloths pin, guitar pic. It was fun!

Very cool. Love the color combo. My weirdest tools so far are a faulty brayer with glued-on yard brush bristles, pattern stamps made with the rubber from a broken wellie boot, and a chocolate box insert that makes a pattern like leaf cells seen under a microscope.

@@jackieschomburgart By the way: I LOVE that you don't have silly distracting music in your videos. (I do love music and always have on great music when I paint/create but in YT vids it drives me nuts., Jane Davies+Jaco Pastorius combo being a notable exception LOL).

Okay, wow! At the 7:15 mark, you held up your paper and I saw a blob at the bottom far right. It looks like a shorter version of Sasquatch! I had a sudden inspiration to try your techniques and see what my abstract marks could "turn into" as I painted. ❤. But! You covered up Sasquatch with paint! Waaaah! 😂

i feel like a year ago you might have used that black and white striped tissue paper collage piece, but now you're creating your own graphic marks with your own hand. (i hope that doesn't sound condescending...) it's fascinating to follow you and see how you're creating artwork that so visibly could only have been done by you... your commitment to growth is why i keep watching. thank you.

I went to my local ReStore and picked up a bunch of random hardware, parts and pieces to make my own texture stamps. I used rubber washers, tile spacers, nuts, etc. basically anything that I thought might make a fun mark. Then I glued them to wood blocks so that I could use them like stamps. Worked great and I use the non sharp ones on my gel plate as well.

I absolutely love watching your process. I have to share that in almost every instance I’m loving where you’re going and then you do something, usually something bold, and I think, “No! Why’d you add that?” And then, without fail, you keep adding and substracting and deliver something I love. Every. Time. Thanks for sharing the process and your thoughts as you create - it’s so fun to watch and inspiring! And you are a constant reminder to me that it’s just paper and paint - experimentation is where it’s at, the process is where it’s at. Have a great week, Steph

Hey, Jackie! That was very cool - and here I was thinking you were going to use the bottom of the stamp - LOL. I love the random streaks the side of the bottle made ... very nice. And diarylide yellow is one of the best colors!
I've used many things but my favorite was plastic corn cobs - I have two kinds, one that actually looks like a corn cob and one that has styrofoam beads on it - makes the coolest dots on paper - the come out a little long 🙂. I confess, I will try anything!
Going to the Jewel today, perhaps I will pick up a bottle of ice tea too!

Jackie I’m just realizing we have very similar curl patterns. I have straightened my hair for years but I’ve been wearing it curly lately and I like it. A sulfate free shampoo and conditioner are helpful. To style it I will start with blow drying the roots so I can get some body. While the hair is still damp I’ll put a curl cream or leave in conditioner lightly in my hair but not the roots. I scrunch and scrunch. Let is get pretty dry. Then I’ll went it down not to soaking wet but fairly went with a spray bottle and I’ll put a good curl gel in it. Scrunch again. Try to have the hair more in chunks than separated strands keeps the frizz down. Then let it air dry fairly well then scrunch the crunch out. Just thought I’d throw it out there in case you are interested in trying it. Looks like your curls are tighter underneath and in the back. That’s how mine is as well. Your hair looks great as it is but if you want it curlier this might work for you. ❤

When i was working (still am, BTW) on my migraine journal/series, there is a small canvas where i applied acrylic with a steel scrubber (and used iron/rust powder for the marks). But it was a case of going too far, because the work was visually "finished" much earlier than expected, but i wanted it to have both visual and physical texture so i kept going, but the marks then looked sunken, and in adding more iron powder i unbalanced the marks in relation to each other. Only my roomie (who grew up doing and discussing art, and who is an artist's model) and i know it was better before, but, even at that, it is still pretty powerful for such a small canvas.
