    This was a most enjoyable tour de force. I've played guitar for 60 years now, and I have never done this. Sometimes it's good to chuck the dense notation and just kick back with an old chestnut. Good for you!

    I'm so happy to see you Gracie,! ❣️. You've taught me so so much. At 65 yes old, I started teaching myself PIANO at 30. I've been a perpetual beginner off and on all this time. About a year ago, I started learning from you. I never learned any theory. All I can say is, "You are an amazing teacher, AND THANK YOU SO MUCH

    I’m in my 3rd month playing for a church that sings many songs in a different key than the original. It’s made me see how necessary it is to learn songs in multiple keys due to the choir possibly changing the key of any song we do.

    Nice lesson Gracie. Very similar to LeeAnn, I’m 64 years old and I started piano at 40 and then I picked up a guitar 3 years ago. I learned a fair amount of music theory when starting piano and I’ve added to this with the help of your videos while learning guitar. I look forward to all your videos especially when you get to sing.

    I'm actually coming around to your description of the circle of fourths/fifths due to how root motion occurs and the way intervals are identified. Thanks!

    Thanks Gracie. I practiced playing "Give Thanks" on the keyboard piano in all the major keys, but in the "counter clockwise (circle of fourths)" direction starting with Bb Major. Nonetheless, your teaching is a great way to play in all major keys, and I naturally sing in F Major.

      @@GracieTerzian I mainly go by the circle of fourths because most songs tend to follow that pattern. However; the circle of fifths direction helps me to get back to the beginning of whatever key I am playing. Being versatile will help play the instruments more effectively.

    Love the aesthetics of your Ukulele. It looks like a Hohner by the emblem on the headstock. I play Hohner harmonicas… maybe I’ll look into the Ukulele.

    Wow, Gracie and her vocal range! I don't know if many of us can sing all of those. I stayed just to hear you do it. I'll try this on fiddle. Notes first, should be easy, then chords without the singing. 😆🤣 There are a couple keys that are not nice.

    Cool video! I'm interested in something regarding the circle of fifths: when moving the around the circle, do the changing letters represent an ascending or descending series of pitches, or does that not matter? For example, if going clockwise, could the letters be notated on the music staff as alternating in pitch between ascending and descending?

    What is your most natural key to sing in Gracie?

    • @GracieTerzian
      @GracieTerzian  Год назад +2

      It depends on the song! But I like Eb and Ab for my voice.. but that’s a tuning thing and not a range thing. My voice is more in tune in keys like Eb and Ab.

    • @jamesgordon470
      @jamesgordon470 Год назад +1

      Yes,I’m sure the song controls that somewhat, however transposing keys (I would think) has a great deal to do with singing voice of the individual who is singing a vocal piece. I read yesterday about Tessitura and it meaning in the acceptable comfortable voice range of the singer.
      I also noticed that on a few of the keys you dropped down an octave to sing the song..

    Fine video, it is just only those 3 basic chords. The song has no minor chords. Our ukuleles, being C centric, in my opinion best keys are from 3 flats to 3 sharps :)

    That was fun. I rarely play piano in the flat keys (BEAD) on the left side of the circle of 5ths. In going around it my fingers soon learned the pattern of the number of keyboard keys to go down to play the first inversion of the V chord and up to play the 2nd inversion of the IV chord, so all I had to get was the root position for the I chord. My epiphany for today! 😃

    Hi Gracie. Do you have any videos on Modes?

  • @basslobster
    @basslobster Год назад +1

    May I be blunt and add. There are 12 notes and 30 different keys. In the circle of fifths you can sharpen 7 notes and flatten 7 notes. Therefore, 7#s and 7bs, and adding lastly the natural (C) you get 15 major keys. Same thing goes for the relative minor keys. So, 15 + 15 = 30. 😀👍

    • @GracieTerzian
      @GracieTerzian  Год назад +4

      You are very right! But since this song is in a major key I was just focusing on major keys.. and since 3 out of the 15 major keys are enharmonic keys, I left them out.
