Ryan hears "willst du mit mir drogen nehmen" ("do you want to take drugs with me") and proceeds to say "this sounds so much less toxic than American music - you know, music that kids shouldn't listen to" 😂
Well I definitely did jam to this during my school years hahah
That was exactly my thought. Laughed so hard XD
Auweia! 😂🤣😂
Haha I had the same thought. Ryan had a good timing for saying that without knowing that the timing was perfect, LOL
to be fair its an anti drig song if u listen closely to the lyrics.
another proof 2016 was the year before the downfall
nailed!!! 😪
You could say the same about 2000, 1989, tbc….
After 2016 the number of expensive Lamborghinis appearing in video clips increased significantly!🤣
@@schaerfentiefe1967 dont forget the iced out watches and purple Sprite xD

As a german at the first half I was like "Oh my god! I love this!! I need these songs again!!!" and the second half with the rap was like " Yeah not interested. Time to get the good old songs." And as you said that you don't really know if it is german I was like "Yeah I don't know that sh!t too"

Kenn die Songs der 2. Hälfte zum Großteil nicht mal. :D

mine too and im from germany...from 2016 i dont know most of the songs :D
2010-2015 i knew every song. 2016 started to loose me and from 2017 most Songs i didnt knew and would never listen to. 😂
Same. After seeing these songs from 2016-2019 for the first time here I'm really glad Spotify exists, so I have been spared
same... only artist after 2016 i listen to is apache207.. he has an incredible voice 🙂
Exactly the same. I guess it has to do with the emergence of streaming services somehow. It's quite sad really. The charts don't seem to reflect collective tastes anymore.
I totally agree
Yes... To much german "rap music"
As a German it’s so sad how the music changed. From pop/disco music to more and more rap and eventually only rap. I am glad that I have grown up in the right generation with good music, because I can’t imagine growing up with the new music.
Same. Jetzt gibt es nur noch "asi" rap oder techno.
And it's not even good rap
I think it's more that with the dawn of streaming a lot of people have turned their back on pop in favor of more niche genres, while rap always had a core audience that it still maintains.
Zuviel Autotune. Klingt total unnatürlich

Nice video and kinds regards!
As a German born in 2000 the music of 2010 to 2015 was exactly my time and still the best since the 80s in Germany which were called "Neue Deutsche Welle". Thank you for your reactions to this great time and great music!
It's almost the complete opposite for me (born 2001). Except for Cro and a few other artists, pretty much every song came close to giving me an aneurysm. 2016 and onwards got better and worse at the same time. I really like Rin and Raf Camora for example, Bausa and Apache 207 have some good tracks too but unfortunately we also got fkn Mero and Capital Bra.
So geht es mir auch
@@mojoo611 2001 here and in germany we say "Absturz" after 2015. Apache is catchy but besides that 90% of the songs are hot garbage. Not to mention that german rap quality also took a nosedive in the last 6 years.
Du hast so recht
Well let's hope "neue neue deutsche welle" is able to stay and able to really get started. So far I'm enjoying it quiet a lot :)
starting in 2016 german charts declined in quality because it's not the music that people like anymore in there but it's the influencers that lil boys adore... hence why it's full of these highly autotuned ganster rap type of people cuz they seem so cool to them :P
Auch Mädchen haben damals Rap gehört. Alle haben damals einen auf krasse Bad Bitch gemacht und die Typen wollen harte Fuckboys sein. Auf einmal ist jeder soft und schwul 😂😂😂
True and I hate Rap so after 2017 I never heard of any Songs except Leiser von Lea.
Also they bought their place in the charts. It's also due to the internet and streaming and so on, but I don't really know how.

Its so beautiful and tragic at the same time. Great tunes all around and then 2016 comes around the corner and almost everything goes down the drain😂
I was shocked.
Everything sounds just terrible.
literally my thought. from 2016 I suddenly didn't know a single song anymore as I don't listen to rap and they were not played on the radio or elsewhere
You can See how Mass Immigration destroys it.
@@Finda5 It was the time when they started to kickstart through RUclips and with the main audience there being kids and teens you can see where all that... immature content comes from.
Before that it was art. After that it was just flexing in bad german. With a few exceptions. It is quite sad since rap has so much potential, yet none of them uses it.
Hm komisch was nur 2015 war was das vielleicht stark beeinflusst hat
"Lieblingsmensch" has adorable lyrics. So heartwarming
the lyrics is really beautyful, but many people cant catch up with it
Yeah, but this song was waaay to overplayed
Pop music in general is just commercial shit.
I know almost all of these songs and i never realized how sudden the music shifted from this nice poppy sound to the kind of gangster rap.
It seems im total old. Because i absolutely Don t like 99% of the Rap stuff since 2017.
I miss the good old times😢
Then I'm old too. Music since 2017 sucks
I don't think you need to be old to dislike it. That stuff is just geared towards teenaged boys who have something to prove but can't so they have to compensate and the people who grow from that place in life by getting older but no more mature. At least that's my view of it. I don't think many people outside of that demographic genuinely like this stuff enough to seek it out.
I'm pretty sure, that isn't the mainstream music, listened by Germans. So the charts in a way don't represent what Germans hear anymore. Maybe it's because they collect the data for it still from CD sales and gangster rapper buy their own CDs to push it or there is another shift. There are still good songs appeared after 2017, but for some reason they don't appear in this charts.
@@Duconi
The charts have always been a desaster area and never really reflected what people were listening to because they were never a count of actually sold units but a strange mixture of sold units in shops, preorders and projection. And the situation nowadays with downloads, streaming etc. might be even more contorted.
Well, I don't know how charts are build, but yeah... I don't think that most people in Germany would listen to cheap autotune rap like the stuff after 2016.
Pop and Schlager were big in Germany for as long as I live, but at least it was okay to listen to. The newer stuff is just... Not good. But well, maybe every "old" person says stuff like that.
Please keep in mind that those actually were the top 10 songs of that year in Germany IN GERMAN LANGUAGE. The only song of 2010 which was actually in the overall top 10 most sold songs, for example, was Unheilig's "Geboren um zu leben" at no. 4. Ranks 1 to 3 were
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole with Over the Rainbow, Shakira with Waka Waka and German singer Lena Meyer-Landrut with her English song Satellite.
But that list wouldn’t be interesting.
Yeah I really was wondering, can't remember so many songs in German language in our charts.
IN GERMAN LANGUAGE also includes artists from Austria
Fun fact: "Auf uns" was played when we won the world championship :) Thats part of why it was so successful
Mit „auf uns“ das Internat aufgeweckt, am Tag, an dem wir die letzten Prüfungen abgelegt haben 😅
It was played throughout the entire world championship, the fact that we also won was only the cherry on top.
As a German I find it interesting in this video how you can see how the music taste in Germany went from having class to horrendous sexual rap over the years.

Actually there aren't that many artists using masks. Cro (the guy in the panda mask) was just featured several times. 2010-15 he was very popular and for quite some time noone actually knew who he was because of the mask. Sido started out wearing a mask at the beginning of his career as well but stopped using it at some point.
Cro is still hugely popular, just not as mainstream as back then.
Cro was actually my neighbor, but still he lost the focus in his music, since then German music became pretty lame
@@grzegorzch5035you saying that German music is lame tells me you have never heard of Electric Callboy.
(people knew who he was through out his entire career because it was never a secret, jsut because us 13 years couldnt google correctly back then, doesnt mean "nobody knew")
@@SmileyXY That "Cro" leaving is a reason why German music is supposed to suck nowadays also says alot lol
Don't forget these are the songs that got popular in Germany in ADDITION to the international songs (mainly from USA). So it is no wonder that there is an emphasis on songs where the lyrics are important (like Rap but also "fun songs")
Also I'm old geezer and didn't know most of the songs
Same here, most of them I had never heard. But I have to say some sounded nice. That rap stuff is not for me though.
I kinda dropped out at 2018 🫠
Dropped out at like 2017 besides some.
The good artists didn't get that much hype anymore and some quit entirely. Rap is just lame to me.
5:49 Andreas Gabalier is actually from Austria and calls himself the „Volks Rock’n’Roller“ (Folk Rock’n’Roller)
It's such a shame how the music has changed. Greetings from Germany
It‘s also interesting how the names of musicians in the top German top ten changed over the years. Some appeared two or three times over one ore two years and then disappeared completely.
That’s normal, usually you can cover a lifespan of 2 years with an album and when you release two good albums in a row you can easily cover 4 years with singles.
And now the "skilled workers" take over the top ten. I love it!
I gotta say apache 207 has to be my favorite German artist right now. It's crazy how he manages to stand out from the rest but it is really great
@@michaelkorger3273 tbh I wouldn't call any german rapper 'skilled'. For me they all sound more or less the same. Over all the music got worse the last decade. But that's only my opinion. I just don't like these "new" and "modern" type of music. Btw 23 y.o. from Germany
@@jonasnosbusch7312 I agree with you, the new type of music just sucks. And I'm just 29 and also live in Germany

Ooof, seeing Unheilig and "the Duke" (der Graf) on screen again hit with a different level of both nostalgia and sadness.
Apart from the already mentioned, the charts also started to majorly change in 2016 because streaming was and is heavily manipulated by paid botfarms. The length of the songs also got shorter and shorter to increase the number of plays per account/ per hour. Many of these songs did not get to their chart organically.
for me personally, die ärzte and die toten hosen are by far my favorites from this video, cro, sido and alligatoah are especially worth listening to as well, their lyrics are great and so is the music. however in my opinion (and in a lot of others' i feel) the newer rap stuff like capital bra, samra etc is just really bad, it's just talking about drugs and crime etc in a way that you can't understand a word. it's what most fourteen year olds listen to.
To be fair, Sido(/Aggro Berlin) kinda has also started with the kind of rap most fourteen years old listened to in the early 2000s.
@@gunchar06 he did, but a big difference for me is that he knows other topics than 'i take drugs, haha, i fuck your girlfriend, yo mom fat, i rob stores to buy drugs and cars'
Yes but it is a completely different kind of rap. I personally do not know how to describe it but it is a far more drug and crime and "oh who is the boss" kinda vibe in the new songs of capital Bra etc. And I don't like it. To be honest there is some good rap like maybe from Apache but the rap did change quite a bit. Also I miss the funny and good vibe songs. They are almost non-existent in the top and you need to really look for it yourself. @@gunchar06
Not much people are listening to it actually, it's a well documented fact that the charts are heavily cheated by them because the charts system is quite dumb

Its such a throwback when you live in Germany and heard these Songs years ago on repeat.
Most of the rap stuff in the last 2 years is not represantative of what most germans listen to. Its very much the generation born after 2000 that streams these songs a lot.
If you liked the duo from 2019 second place, I suggest you check out Henning Mays (the male singers) cover of Tom´s Diner with AnnenMayKantereit. Its one of the best covers out there existing and from two prominent german artists.
I second this, that duo is amazing!
It's x Giant Rooks aswell, insane combo.
I third this!!
I guess a big factor in this is that it's not the top 10 songs in Germany that year but only the top ten songs with german lyrics. And since a lot of german Pop/Rock/... songs are also sung in english they are completely missing from the list. whereas a lot of rappers from germany will make more songs in german
damn it went downhill after 2017 ^^
Wow i didn't notice how bad the music turned in the end. Mostly auto tune stuff and songs that sound almost the same. The early half was definately better and way more variety.
Yeah I agree. Even though I should be the targeted group. As a child at this time, I hare the fake voices and one sided textes
It’s correct. The EARLY 2010´s was way less toxic then now. I love this part of our German popmusic but only until 2015, then it’s going down for me

Rosenstolz as 'the German Katy Perry' and 'losing the innocence of the early 2000s' and our music getting bit weird at times were actually such insightful observations - encapsulates German music quite well
but also should be noted that streaming has led to music being more representative of younger people these days whereas the early 2010s are more cross-generational radio music

I walked like an Egyptian,
I cried with doves.
Was a voodoochild,
like a Rolling Stone.
In the thorn forest Mary sang for me,
I died in your arms…
...Bochum '84.
I never let the sun go down,
in my wonderful world.
2nd verse
I was welcome in the jungle
and strangers in their own land.
My personal Jesus
and totally sick in the brain.
And I wonder when will I, will I be famous,
like Rio, my king for eternity.
I had reached the end of the street...
was a loser, baby!
But then I held a cover in my hand,
then a monk who was on fire,
Kurt Cobain told me to come as I am.
bridge
I was one of five boys,
“One minute” and then it was over.
I only sang for myself
for an infinitely long time.
Then I met her
and she reminded me.
We were worlds away
and yet from the same star.
refrain
And I sing these songs,
dancing with Tears in My Eyes.
Bowie was my hero for a day,
and EMF can't believe it.
And I'm standing in the purple rain,
I want to be a firestarter.
Whitney will always love me
and Michael won't leave me alone
Yeah, the entire song is about all the songs Adel Tawil listened to and liked making him the guy he became today.
The lines during the Bridge of the song are about his career, songs he made and/or sang.
4:20 The last one from 2012 where you said you wanted more of the good rock music or something is called "Tage wie Diese" (Days like These) by Die Toten Hosen if you wanna check it out. It's a really iconic song, and I'm pretty sure that most Germans will know the lyrics, at least of the chorus

Finaly someone does this! Because of rh 257-ers Holland, haha Love it, warm hug from a stranger from the Netherlands ❤
Lieblingsmensch and Astronaut are so nostalgic. I used to love them and listened to them a lot. I still like them because they are pretty much my childhood. Especially Astronaut. I remember in elementary school during PE... The teacher used to play songs like the songs from the first half (cause the others weren't released back than). It just felt so energizing and I really just felt comfortable
Unfortunately these awesome songs are much too short to appreciate them. I know why this is needed, but it hurts a little bit.
You might want to watch the entire song "257ers - Holland" - it is about Germans making fun of Dutch people 🙂 It has aged quite well. The one from your thumbnail picture
it is a love letter to the netherlands - the song was also really successful in the netherlands

The top 10 changed so much because the way we listen to music changed.
Back in the day it were CD/vinyl/cassette sales, downloads and also radio air play. So (except for radio) you bought a song or an album once and it counted towards the charts. It didn't matter how often you would actually listen to it.
In the mid 2010s, music streaming became more and more popular. Now, didn't have to invest money before listening to a particular song (which lowered the importance of a catching album cover photo but hightened the importance of the beginning of the song - listen to old songs, they have really long intros. Now, the first few seconds have to catch you so you don't skip the song.) But every time you listen, it counts towards the charts. Who adapts to new tech first? Young people. And young people often have time and passion to listen to their favorite music A LOT. and the young people loved rap of the time.
That's why there's such a massive shift.
You kinda don't really answer your question. Yes, young people are the drivers of that change, but WHY did they prefer hip hop over the rest?
That would have been the interesting fact.
@@ChRW123 that is a different topic.
My point was that before the age of streaming, the youth often either just copied their music to listen to it (cassette, burned CDs etc.) and IF they bought it, their purchase just counted once, just like any purchase.
Now, one could argue the charts are more accurate because they portrait the times people actually listen, not the purchases.
I was a teen in the 2000s, and the peers I knew also loved rap music. But it wasn't in the charts because it was still the era before streaming.
Simple answer: they don't. In this digital age, the German singles charts naturally also include figures from streaming services such as spotify, deezer and co. A large part of the streaming statistics of these wannabe Tupacs is simply the result of fraud. The streaming numbers required for a chart placement can be easily purchased from service providers. This was all uncovered and documented years ago by a team of young journalists.@@ChRW123
The most interesting thing about these "top 10" lists is, that even though some of them got a song or two in the top ten, they often have this one major hit and then sink back to a smaller audience.
At the same time, bands like Die Ärzte, Toten Hosen and also Rammstein, bands that have been in the business for decades and are being talked about for decades. Are, household names and almost everyone knows them, barely appear in the top 10s of each year.
Let's take one song as example: "Schrei nach Liebe", a song from "Die Ärzte" about racists. That song was written in '93. That song is 30 years old by now. And it is still a a usual at their concerts and a usual playing on the radio.
It never went away. It is also not made to be top10 material. Top10 songs are usually seasonal. A lot of "summer-vibe" songs. Songs that everyone listens to for a season because it just fits that year.
"Schrei nach Liebe" on the other hand is not seasonal. It had relevance 30 years ago and it still has. Maybe even more. (it actually got upvoted into the top songs of the year the first time the AfD appeared to be open right-wing extremist)
But there are other songs, Rammstein songs are usually just too offensive in their design to make the list. "Deutschland" is an interesting one, but Rammstein purposefully hyped that song up before it finally released and then it hit. It hit hard.
Thing is, the top10s are full of "one-shots". One major hit and then back to the average audience. And you really would expect to have the popular bands and musicians to have a lot of top-10 hits. But then, we are used to hearing them all the time. And while they are undeniably good at what they do, they are not surprising us with being good.
Everyone who knows "Die Ärzte" knows what to expect from them. "M&F", the song from them that was in the top10 lists here, was good but also nothing out of the ordinary for them. Except for being one of the less critical songs. Their usual is to be critical and they are very opposed to the right. They are Punk in ideology and thus openly political.
And that's the reason why "Deutschland" from Rammstein is weird in the top10. We usually don't have political songs in those lists. They usually don't make it that far up. And that's not because there's a lack of strong political music.
Absolutly
It was apache 207! Little fun fact he has perform a Song on a Post Malone Concert in Germany, because they Play beer Pong behind the stage
„Apache 207, let me look him up… thats not him….“ im not sure if the guy on the bike is him but after that clip the one in the front is apache 207:)
In Germany its important to pay attention to the lyrics ( mostly) . most of the lyrics have a double meaning, or they are a very fine german description about the situation in this song, or they find word about relatet to actual or circumstances in the past from our enterprise
What the heck?
Im from Germany and when Im correct, a lot of these songs are legendary... Some songs are still playing on radio and discos/clubs. After this video I had to add some new songs to my spotify playlist xD
I miss that time so much man. These songs give me so much nostalgia. I was a kid in the 10's, running around in brazil and german tricots after the WM 2014, playing football and building secret hideouts. We didn't have phones, just school and playtime. These were honestly the best times and the music was amazing...
Fr, Ich vermisse diese Zeit so 🥹
I'm having so much nostalgia right now 🥲 thank you ❤
Apart from the fact that the music is getting worse and worse because of the autotune and also in terms of content (especially Pseudo Gangsta rap -Which is of course a matter of taste, because I like things like Mötley Crüe and not everyone likes that either ), the funniest thing is that after a song called "Will you do drugs with me", you say that there are so many songs in US music that are not so good for children 😂
He said: "..less toxic than american songs nowadays." after "Willst du mit mir Drogen nehmen?" 😅
Aber so toxic is der Song doch gar nicht ^^
Big trend vibes! 🌟 From 2016 onwards, you can really hear how music evolved. 2010's tunes vs 2020's - such a hearable change! 🎵🔊
Sido has been on top for a long time he made German rap big pretty much. There were others involved too but he was the main guy. I saw him live the first time all the way back in 2004 and he's still making good music today.
13:39 Do us all a favor and react to any of the compilations of Henning May's voice. That guy has a voice that is beyond terrestrial
Seconded
The trend went to more „hip hop/rap“ and everyone uses autotune. At the end they all sound the same.
Im born 2009 and remembered so many songs i hear my hole live
I didn't know quite a lot of these, but then every fourth or fifth song from these first years pulls me right back into my elementary school times.
Man german music went downhill after 2017 😅 Would love to see your reaction to your favorites from this video in a longer version with a transpation to English so you understand the lyrics. 😊
10:12 No, not Mexico, the original: Spain ;-)
you can literally watch the transition when german rap became an interesting genre again here.
cool how u immediately recognized it.
6:35 I have the same impression. German music doesn't seem to be as toxic as music from the USA.
We have happy, funny, or sad songs. Some have a deeper message, and others don't. But I normally don't have the feeling they're toxic...
In general it is true - but the moment he said it was funny - right after a few songs about drugs.
Haha, yes, and right before he said it, they played "2 finger" and "willst du mit mir Drogen nehmen?"... worse than "Holland" 😂
But I think it's a cultural thing... as in Germany, we grew up from a more Liberal point of view (drugs and sex). Artists are "allowed" to act freely... In the USA, these themes seem more shocking and attract more attention. Artists aggressively include these themes in their music, I guess... 😅
More toxic than all those rap songs since 2016 is not possible, what are you talking lol
they're all homophobic, against women, against jews, against anybody except arabs
I mean one Song literally is called -do you want to Take drugs with me -
@juliaweippert4802 Well, Ryan said "less" toxic, in which I agree. 😅 even the list shows, that there are more love or happy songs than songs about drugs and sex/ big ashes and twitties..
ive watched many of ur videos now and i really hope u will visit us in germany one day ;) im sure u will enjoy the beers, food and stuff very much
For clarification: 187 Straßenbande paved the way for rap music to become mainstream in germany, with their release of "Palmen aus Plasik" in 2016. The album had more of a club sound and was hence played over and over again in german clubs. Rap music became alot more popular after that. That's why there's such a strong transition into rap after 2016. It is also worth noting that the streams on spotify and other streaming platforms count towards chart positioning since 2014. Thats another reason why rap music is a lot more present in the charts.
As a german i need to say i loved the songs up from 2012 and then 2016 every second one and after that just a few lonely ones that ware good
This gave me big BIG nostalgia, but most importantly it had me going "no WAY that song came out in [year]" all the time
Correction: That was the case until 2017, after that I hadn't even heard these songs before
And I always thought it was just subjective to me, that the mainstream music here in germany got really bad since 2016 and somehow felt happier before, but looks like the "amping autotune all the way up while mumbling uninspiring stuff about making money and taking drugs with the lowest voice possible and packing 50 voice filters on top" stuff really got popular then...
I dont know, I guess I'm just getting old but its just not for me, I cant listen to that without feeling like I'm losing IQ.
I mean, rappers like Sido, Bushido, Kollega etc always existed and do still exist but they at least have some lyrical finesse to them?
Deutschrap has been a genre as the 90s but at least in the past we seemed to have some good artist in the charts. Fettes Brot, Fanta4, Abolute Beginner, Sabrina Setlur (to throw a woman into the mix). Even Rappers like Sido, Bushido or Kool Savage who went more into the edgy/gangster side had some intelligent stuff every now and then, even for a person who isn´t into Rap like myself.
one of the most iconic lyrics of this time are from "die Ärzte" - M&F:
"Some men love men, some women love women
There's nothing to regret and nothing to marvel at
It's just as normal as chewing gum
But most of them will never dare to do it"
but to be honest i don't most of the songs after 2017, to be honest most of them i never heard in my life....
Amazing. Your reaction is almost 100% the same as mine... Shocked to what happened to top 10/100 music in Germany or world wide in general ... 😂😂 Crazy thing is, in the past music had to be bought to find itself in the charts.. today almost every age has some kinda streaming device to listen to music and weigh in hard. Guess it's an incredible age shift within our charts everywhere. Back in the day you had to be around 13/14 to buy your first singles. Now it's just a question if you have internet at home. 🤷🏻♂️
they often don't show the best part of the song because they only show it shortly, and they're already a bit older, there's uncountably many
stimmt
Das dachte ich auch
6:35 Ryan, I am fully with you. We are getting older (I'm getting 44 tomorrow) and I for my self can't listen to most of the newer music which came out the last 5 - 10 years. Either the music becomes more and more superficial or more aggressive. And it doesn't matter whether the music comes from the USA, Germany or somewhere else. But that's just my opinion.
Isso.
Alles Gute zum Geburtstag!
And I feel the same. Charts are not my kind of music but I always liked at least a few of the songs, because there were just well made (lyrics and music). I am two years younger than you, Chris.
I myself am 19 i absolutely despise the chart music after 2016. I myself would not willingly listen to that stuff. Asi-Rap is not for me. It just sounds terrible. Can't we go back to music from the early 2010s?
Yeah, for me it stopped with the early 2010s. There was the occasional earworm, but the mainstream music nowadays is just plain bad and/or boring. Still listening to 70's to 90's stuff plus independent artists. Music needs to be something that can be cherished as a form of art and harmony, not just some beats, badboys vibes and autotune.
"I'm not seeing alot of the same artist", he said after the 3rd cro song lol
because you said that german musicians often wear masks. its basically only one artist who's name is Cro but he just appears very often in this list
I don't like German rap that much, so I got stuck somewhere in 2015 😂2:08 "Tim Bendzko - Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären" (if words were my language) is my absolute favorite German song and always will be ... really folks even if you don't understand German search for the lyrics and put them into a translator, it's so freaking beautiful ☺If I ever get married, this will be my song for the opening dance.
“Hip hop wie ich es kenne starb in neuen Millennium”
Same for me. After 2015 -2016 I got completely lost. Didn't know a single song anymore.
All of these songs were completely in German. They sometimes sound funny because they are sung in a German dialect or slang that is influenced by Arabic, Turkish, and Eastern European languages. The words are German, but they are sung as if they were from a song in those languages. I'm not a big fan of this style in general, but there are some really great songs that come out of it. And those are the ones that are on this list.
The title of that video was actually a little bit misleading. Those actually were the top 10 songs of that year in Germany IN GERMAN LANGUAGE. The only song of 2010 which was actually in the overall top 10 most sold songs was Unheilig's "Geboren um zu leben" at no. 4. Ranks 1 to 3 were
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole with Over the Rainbow, Shakira with Waka Waka and German singer Lena Meyer-Landrut with her English song Satellite.
That man with the Triangle beard und his chin and deep Voice is called "Der Graf" from "Unheilig". His Music helped me through a difficult time. It would be nice, for future videos, to get a little bit "slower" through the years and the Musics, making it part 1, 2, 3, 4 and what not, something like... "in between" the Regular ones. German Songs from the Early 2000 to, around, 2018? are mostly to good to get them "only" into 3-4 Second Clips. Despite, as a Foreigner, to not Understand it, the sound itself shows that we certainly (were?) are able to stand toe to toe with International English Stars 🙂
Is it crazy that I just began to cry because I realise that I am getting older? I mean I am.nearly an andukt and slowly the time comes where I think: oh man this is realy long ago and I dont want that. I want to stop everything and just enjoy the moment.
As a german i neverr realized our music was that good
At least till 2016 most of the music was enjoyable
@@Souru_TVyep, from then on it just went downwards
got nostalgia right of the start
Thank you for a lot of nostalgia. Now I have to listen to a lot of songs :D
Chapeau!
Wie GEIL doch unsere Musik ist. So vielfältig, so viele Stylez. Und wir haben das Glück, mehrere Sprachen und Kulturen in den Charts verteten zu haben, incl. US, UK, AUS u. ,,rest" of Europe, not only english.
I would appreciate it if you would take a look at the titles with the lyrics. Some of them are very deep. With some you need the context to recognize this. (Loss of friends, etc.) But the melody sometimes doesn't reflect that. That can be confusing. "Geboren um zu leben" by Unheilig, for example, can be seen as a hymn to life, or as a swan song for a friend.
The guy you looked up with the sunglasses was Apache actually. He is one of the few German artists and especially rapper I listen to. (Also met him once as he lived in my town)
I am from Germany and this video makes me so emotional because it reminds me of my teenage years😀
Dude im feeling the vibes, did grow up with those songs.
The few that do repeat are among the legendary groups/artists like Toten Hosen, Die Ärzte, Ramstein, Seeed and Sido. Some newer are Cro and Sportfreunde Stiller.
2017 and after has a lot of trap or whatever it is called with a lot of 'Eintagsfliegen' (one-hit-wonders)
You talked about the transition around 2017 and in Germany, either People love Deutschrap („German rap“) or they absolutely hate it, there is like nothing in between🥴
well i happened to grow up in the time when savas, sido/aggro berlin "introduced" deutschrap/gangster rap that was of course heavily influenced from 90s US rap. although i myself am a metalhead, a lot of friends listended to rap and i can at least see that those guys had some talent. then it faded out come the 2010s and made a comeback around 2017. guys like GZUZ and Bonez MC kept that underground gangster rap style that we got to know from the late 90s early 2000s, and i occasionally listen to, but more and more had succes with the overproduced autotune mumble/trap stuff that we have now, which is sad, because most of them have next to no talent at all.
tldt. , i would agree with you mostly, but i myself am someone that is inbetween
Usually people like Deutschrap. Die fantastischen Vier or Fettes Brot for example are very popular groups. What most people don't like is gangster rap, where they sing about killing each other, taking drugs, about "how hard life on the street is" (while the singers earn millions), etc.
@@Duconi yeah fr
@@DuconiI like how all you people in the comments shit on rap and say yeah they are talking about bad things oh no. As if it isn’t in many other genres. Schlager many songs about alcohol and in many rock songs other drugs and the artist were or are heavy on drugs but rappers can’t do that no
@@whosmax_x6316 so you say praising rape, murder, knife fights, treating women like objects, spreading hate etc. is the same as singing about drinking a glass of wine? And by the way, singing about drugs is relatively rare in pop music and especially compared with violence in gangster rap.
As a German seeing the change in popular German songs in that decade at once makes me so sad, I barely even knew any songs 2016 onwards. 💀
The German TikTok songs are Sonne, Fahrradsattel, and that's it.
Sonne is about a girl being a sun.
Fahrradsattel is about face sitting.
This video made me realize why I have stopped listening to the radio since around 2017/2018 😂 I still like some of the songs from that whole "trap/autotune" trend but overall I fell like everything pretty much sounds the same and you can tell really well by this video 🙈
Try something better like old ATB songs. You won't regret it. ; -)
You gotta react to some of the full songs. Would love to see that :)
the "Apache 207" you searched and found was the guy in the video. He makes good music, maybe listen to "Angst", "Fame", "Lamborghini doors (Piano Version)" or "Kein Problem". :D
i recommend listening to the full versions of the songs.
Some of them are really good and you are clearly missing out by only hearing three seconds.
