    My grandfather was with the 10th Mountain in WWII. He earned a silver star and a purple heart clearing an SS mortar position in Italy. He had a BAR, ran out of mags, used his sidearm, ran out again, and used his E-tool to finish off last man who shot him in the shoulder (hence the purple heart). Our family found the SS helmet cracked nearly in half after he passed, which he kept all those years.

Urgent Care saw the needle and sent me to ER who had to run all these tests. So many blood tests, and two months of two different HIV meds as a precaution, it made me feel so horrible, both gave me all the worst symptoms. If someone shoots a dirty needle at me they wont walk again. I know the suck that comes with that too well.

    53:31 Re: Chinook pilots.
    The pilots didn't just have to account for the weight of bodies boarding... they also had to stay under max load and account for center of gravity for leaving. When a Chinook takes off, they tend to drift rearward about 3 feet while they climb to about 90 feet altitude. Thankfully they had the weight right to allow the nose to drop first (Insert steel testes joke here) and not stall the bird.

    The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is - whichever is greater - it obtains a difference or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows: Because a variation has modified some of the information that the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice versa. And by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.

Took charge of the captains boat, waited for the captain of course where the captain asked permission to board, with standard practices with a salute to the flag then posting a salute while asking for permission. Just a pro tip from almost 2 decades of being a mechanic. Take the center nut off of the strut before removing anything with the car on the ground. Then when you jack up the car the spring slowly uncompresses and all you have to do is slowly lower it back together and line the new strut rod back through the strut top hat. Done it like this forever because it's faster and safer than using the "snap-on" or in our case OTC strut tamer

      Isn't that the vehicle that keeps setting itself on fire?

    • @devilin100
      @devilin100 2 дня назад

      @@lars7747 That not a problem I've known of them to have. The barrels at the end of its service life, before being replaced by the Tunguska and TOR system now it just serves with the naval infantry/marines, were known to give up the ghost and explode under pressure from firing. Some of those engines might be 50 years old so who knows.
      They were prone to "run away gun", where the barrel heat cooks of the rounds and cycles the action loading another round which also cooks off.
      They don't carry that much ammo, which is why they weren't supposed to be used on ground targets. And they come in 50 round belts in "blow out panel at home.

    34:26 That sounds like a ZSU-23-4 or 'Shilka', they are made off of the PT-76 chassis which are already super thin, pair that with being backline mobile AA units, Russian doctrine never needed the armor that the Linebacker has, on top of being made in the 60's when everything had less armor.

    Slight correction on the space pen. NASA did not spend millions developing it. The pen company (I can't remember which one) did, because the owner wanted a pen that would write no matter what. IIRC NASA contacted them about a bulk order and were basically given them for free so the company could market it as a "space pen", as it was a slow seller before this. They did pump a lot of money into development, I am not sure if it was "millions" as reported, but it was a lot more than you would think.
    The confusion came from them heavily marketing it as "used by NASA" and pretty much everything else used by NASA was custom designed for the missions.
