My grandfather was with the 10th Mountain in WWII. He earned a silver star and a purple heart clearing an SS mortar position in Italy. He had a BAR, ran out of mags, used his sidearm, ran out again, and used his E-tool to finish off last man who shot him in the shoulder (hence the purple heart). Our family found the SS helmet cracked nearly in half after he passed, which he kept all those years.

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is - whichever is greater - it obtains a difference or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows: Because a variation has modified some of the information that the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice versa. And by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.

@@lars7747 That not a problem I've known of them to have. The barrels at the end of its service life, before being replaced by the Tunguska and TOR system now it just serves with the naval infantry/marines, were known to give up the ghost and explode under pressure from firing. Some of those engines might be 50 years old so who knows. They were prone to "run away gun", where the barrel heat cooks of the rounds and cycles the action loading another round which also cooks off. They don't carry that much ammo, which is why they weren't supposed to be used on ground targets. And they come in 50 round belts in "blow out panel at home.

34:26 That sounds like a ZSU-23-4 or 'Shilka', they are made off of the PT-76 chassis which are already super thin, pair that with being backline mobile AA units, Russian doctrine never needed the armor that the Linebacker has, on top of being made in the 60's when everything had less armor.
Slight correction on the space pen. NASA did not spend millions developing it. The pen company (I can't remember which one) did, because the owner wanted a pen that would write no matter what. IIRC NASA contacted them about a bulk order and were basically given them for free so the company could market it as a "space pen", as it was a slow seller before this. They did pump a lot of money into development, I am not sure if it was "millions" as reported, but it was a lot more than you would think. The confusion came from them heavily marketing it as "used by NASA" and pretty much everything else used by NASA was custom designed for the missions.

Modern composite is significantly better against HEAT than it used to be, so now the only place nato countries still use ERA is on spots without composite.
We in the west also have NERA (non explosive reactive armor) and most kinds of NERA are classified, but there is a kind with slats that fall down into compromised parts of the armor to increase affective protection on repeated impacts.

the Russian tracked vehicle that has four cannons is called a ZSU-23-4 "Shilka"
☝️🤓
Isn't that the vehicle that keeps setting itself on fire?
@@lars7747 That not a problem I've known of them to have. The barrels at the end of its service life, before being replaced by the Tunguska and TOR system now it just serves with the naval infantry/marines, were known to give up the ghost and explode under pressure from firing. Some of those engines might be 50 years old so who knows.
They were prone to "run away gun", where the barrel heat cooks of the rounds and cycles the action loading another round which also cooks off.
They don't carry that much ammo, which is why they weren't supposed to be used on ground targets. And they come in 50 round belts in "blow out panel at home.
@devilin100 yeah them cooking off their own ammo is what I've seen a lot from middle eastern shilkas,
Found a fellow warthunder player.
no joke when I went to vote (UK) with my brother (who's special needs) I started sneezing like crazy and some politician for the local area asked if I was OK my brother without missing a beat goes "he's fine he's allergic to bulls|t"
I hope yall had a great thanksgiving
Operation Anaconda was also the first Air Assault in Canadian military history, 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry also broke the world record for the longest confirmed sniper kill, twice, pretty fucking ninja
Hey guys. Wanted to say thanks for what y’all are doing and please 🙏 don’t stop. My husband and I are both vets and love the work you do.
Never underestimate someone willing to play shovel-tag.
And, yes, we did change the landscape. (My normal loadout over Afghanistan was 27x500lb or 750lb in the bay and 12x2k JDAM on the wings.)
Yep they brought about 5,000 Afghan civilians to Camp Atterbury, IN during the withdraw. They were walking right off base and leaving
Hope Ethan's sister gets better soon and has a speedy recovery with no bumps, was in a motorcycle accident about a year ago and broke a few dozen bones but I'm back at it again and can only hope the same for others who crash.

Still can’t believe the future ATF director has his own podcast!
I just think it's neat he makes his own pews. You know .. instead of taking ours
@@nickabel8279he literally wants to “inside job” the ATF. It would be the funniest thing ever lmao
@@nickabel8279he wants to do to the ATF what the ATF does to our dogs
Good morning fellas yall keep up the good work love watching yall
Hell yeah HLC. Also, I miss TFE being on. Love you guys.
He’ll be back! He tore his pec and had to have surgery last month
@@unsubscribepodcasthe is camera shy with that sling on. We don’t care. Tell the snarky cherub to heal fast and we miss him
@unsubscribepodcast we warned him of the dangers of onanism.
IIFS is the massive ruck Habitual Linecrosser is talking about, they were the replacement to the ALICE Medium rucksack and were essentially capable of carrying an entire person on your back. It's hard to imagine the pain of carrying your entire bodyweight on your back for upwards of days on end.
Holy shit! Last time I came this early I had a kid!!!
HLC need to a co-host switching out with nick when he goes back to Iowa
just ordered the "undiagnosed" shirt boys, cabt wait for it to come in
The navy was paying $200 for toilet seats 10yrs ago… the same open front cheap toilet seats you see in every gov building and school
I was separated from my element in Baghdad for 45 min in 04....the amount of pucker factor isn't comparable. Nervous and Gassy is the only descriptor I have.
M2 Browning was my baby during deployment.. love that weapon system! And shortly after hitting post i find you no longer have to head space and time!... dummy proofing? Come on! I mean sure makes mounting it faster but come on that was my jam! 😂
And now the gov says you're not good enough to have one...

Modern composite is significantly better against HEAT than it used to be, so now the only place nato countries still use ERA is on spots without composite.
The Russian federation can't afford modern composite, so they use ERA.
We in the west also have NERA (non explosive reactive armor) and most kinds of NERA are classified, but there is a kind with slats that fall down into compromised parts of the armor to increase affective protection on repeated impacts.
Video got 51 likes and 44 views in the first 50 seconds the vibes are strong with this one💪

"Good! Means we can fire in all directions!"
7:45 I can verify. I own the USGI 3 bag modular sleep system with the woodland camo bivy. I have camped many times with it in upstate NY winters. The coldest I've used it was around 25 F. It's not great, lol. He's right! It'll keep you alive, but that's it.
6:49 In the movie American Rickshaw, the main character threatens someone with a used needle and says "I'M SURE YOU'VE HEARD OF AIDS!" The movie is pretty absurd in general, but that's still easily the most memorable part of it.
52:49 ha my brother is a chinook pilot in the army and I call him the army bus driver! They are wild contraptions up close 😅🤣
38:36 The launcher and missile is called the starstreak.

every army in history: we are outnumbered, retreat.
americans: ...it's a target rich environment.
As a kid, I had a book that was a compilation of old Army manuals. There was a hand-to-hand combat section that specifically covered using an e-tool as a weapon. This means at some point the Army has spent taxpayer money on teaching grunts how to kill people with a folding shovel.
