Guilt makes one make really terrible decisions. It's up to Israel to guarantee it's own existence by coming to terms with its neighbors. The U.S. (and Western European) guarantee has basically enabled Israel's sense of entitlement to land that is not theirs.
It is shocking that the Israeli public has willfully supported, for so long, Likud's Netanyahu despite that he is so obviously a morally bankrupt and corrupted man. Netanyahu, over the past many years, has achieved very little as PM of Israel - save for enriching himself and thwarting peace. The simple fact is, Netanyahu has supported the funding of extremist enemies of Israel (such as Hamas) because they, like him, oppose a two-state solution. Sadly, perpetual conflict is the raison d'être for those opposed to peace. In any event, I hope the right-minded people of Israel will work hard this next while to usher in a more honest and visionary leadership. And the sooner this happens, the better.
The thing is...if they didn't own the US Government and it's politicians, it'd be a lot easier to let them fend for themselves, and take care of our OWN issues.
It is the US that is preventing the UNSC, ICJ, ICC, etc from having Israel held accountable under these conventions and International law. Only last week the US passed a budget denying funding to UNWRA for the rest of 2024, based on unproven claims by Israel, provided more arms & munitions to Israel, including 2000 lbs bombs and fighter jets. They also introduced legislation saying that if the Palestinians support any actions to hold Israel to account for it recent actions or if the Palestinians try to bring a case against Israel itself, then there will be no more funding for the Palestinians from the US. This is international blackmail and is only required imho because the US know full well that Israel have cases to answer for and that it would be highly likely that the US itself along with others would be found to be complicit in the crimes committed by Israel.
Netanyahu needs to be charged for war crimes. NO more aid until an immediate cease fire. Enough with giving Israel money. We give Israel money when they are committing war crimes and genocide, but we have debates on whether or not to give Ukraine money and they are trying to save themselves from Putin? Netanyahu helped orchestrate October 6! Israel has the best intel in the world. They knew what Hamas was up to and he let it happen!
The most disturbing thing is Netanyahu knew about the attack a year in advance. We need to know why. Did he want the attack? Was it to distract from his corruption??
Exactly..much to analyze about the attack. Was it mainly on young people and families who disagreed with Netanyahu? He is not well liked or supported in Israel even before this attack. Another right wing dictator!
We don't need to know why. Israel people need to know why. And I think they are taking the measurements to figure that out now considering they have been protesting for Netanyahu to step down. If you ask me, Netanyahu is past his time in office 4 years ago. And I really dont care why he let it happen. Bottom line is its time to go period. Figure the rest out later.

So when Likud’s charter says from the river to the sea (and indeed the Israeli flag commits to that very same thing) that’s OK? Finally Joe says the truth out loud.
Listening to Joe describe the situation for Palestinians makes me understand that they are resisting. Are they really terrorist or resistance fighters? Israel never tells what they’ve done to these people for decades.
The Palestinians do choose horrible ways to try and be Freedom Fighters. But Countries like Iran push them to be as atrocious as possible, because that stops people seeing how bad Iran's Leaders are. The Palestinians have legitimate claims for freedom. And many Middle Eastern Countries other than Iran want to see this festering wound solved, so the world can move on. I'm an atheist, but it this case, Blessed be the Peacemakers. We need to promote the people in both Palestine and Israel that want to find a lasting Peace. At the moment too many outside people find it easier to give both sides weapons to 'Defend' themselves, and ignore the root of the problem.
You need only open your eyes (and watch Israel’s newly declared enemy of the (Jewish I’m afraid to say…) people - Al Jazeera) to get a broader understanding of the crisis and crimes that have been going on for nearly a century. It’s taken a series of obscene actions by the protagonists in this disaster to finally remove some of the cloth from the vision of those who think saying Israel has a right to exist is somehow the end of the thought that’s required to deliver peace in the region. Whatever the Israeli government accuses its opposition of, it has committed historically and currently to a far worse extent. And the expectation that Palestinians should just meekly accept their erasure is just insane and inane. The same people who lionise the Israeli right supported apartheid in South Africa and tacitly support it elsewhere when the victims are Arabic or Muslim (ignoring the plight of Palestinian Christians - the original Christian community for gawd’s sake). If you want to know true horror, listen to what the settlers are saying.

It's amazing how, instead of getting sympathy for the massacre committed by Hamas, he flipped the narrative idioticly to their favor, by committing a genocide in response. You call HAMAS terrorists and 40% killed on October 7th were noncombatants. Though many were killed by friendly fire. Yet more than 95% killed by Israel in Gaza were noncombatants. And Israel is not called a terrorist.?
Joe - There has been talk about the Hamas charter for years and the text "From the river to the sea", but the exact same text has been in the Likud charter for almost as long. It is not only lately that Netanyahu has been saying such things. You can find videos, if you are interested, from years back of Netanyahu advising of his commitment against a Palestinian state, how all of the land is for the Jewish people and how he can easily control the US. For me it is because that the US have allowed Israel for years continually steal Palestinian lands in the West Bank for ever more settlements, all the while talking about a two state solution, allowed the apartheid system to continue and flourish, allowed the occupation and the siege on Gaza, the raids on Palestinian homes and the incarceration of 1000s with out charge, many of them women and children, etc. which is partly to blame for the events of Oct 7th. Though you may not like to hear it, an occupied people have the right to resist their occupiers by any means, including armed struggle. The US allowed the situation for the Palestinians get so bad that hope of a better future could not be seen and then act surprised when the occupied rise up.
Strictly speaking more than that, in the sense that the US was by far the most important driver of the 47 partition plan that gave almost 60% of the land to a third of the population, and has consistently supported Israel in diplomatic, military and economic terms ever since, with only very brief, ephemeral periods of making an actual effort towards a peace process. The west has effectively created the present situation, though it is not directly responsible for Israel's actions historically or presently, it has created the conditions, the permission structure as some would say, that have allowed it to be maintained. Ignoring the violations of international law for decades, including collective punishment, massacres, extra judicial killings, illegal detention, as you say. The west has absolutely created this situation, and has only just realised how bad it is because they have been left no choice whatsoever. It's like how the occidental nations permitted and engaged in antisemitism right up to the point where the holocaust happened, at which point they were shocked into realising it had consequences. We should, as a global community, stop waiting for total catastrophe before we stop supporting things that are leading, inexorably, towards total catastrophe.
Yes, Netanyahu has a long history propping up Hamas. That is a fact. Netanyahu is clearly not interested in the safe return of those hostages. He's fully aware that indiscriminate bombing and blocking humanitarian aid endangers the hostages as much as it does innocent Palestinian children. Three Israeli hostages who had escaped were waving a white flag and speaking Hebrew when they were shot and killed by IDF. Netanyahu has refused to negotiate a prisoner/hostage exchange (Israel has held thousands of Palestinians without trial or evidence for decades). And one more fact that bears mentioning. Netanyahu was responsible for security the night that those hostages were taken. And much has been said about the mysterious lack of both on-site and responding security. I've never heard an explanation for the extremely slow response time. The families of the hostages are suing Netanyahu for that reason. I believe that he is using those hostages as a pretext for genocide. He was just waiting for an excuse. Netanyahu said that he wouldn't stop until the land was clear. This is a land grab. Jared Kushner already put out a video about developing on land that is now Gaza, as "Beachfront properties".
Find some Jewish friends who are anti zionist. We need to be careful about equating all Jews to Zionists. It opens the door to real antisemitism and we cannot afford to prove them right OR allow ourselves to slip into intolerance.

Here's why, the US lives, exists on the same planet as over 200 other countries, not everything is only US importance when we all live one one place, Earth.
The Biden administration can walk and chew gum at the same time. Unfortunately, the Maga in Congress can’t do anything except stop the Democrats from getting the work done. Immigration reform, voting rights, codifying Roe, raising wages for workers and taxes on the uber-wealthy and so much more - all blocked by Republicans.
The US has been heavily involved in the state of Israel for a century one way or another, going back to the mandate of palestine. The US was the main driver behind the partition plan that effectively led to the state of Israel. And it has armed and funded Israel, and provided diplomatic cover for it since then. You don't get to choose to suddenly decide it's none of your business. Nor is it a foreign war. As it stands right now it is prima facie a genocidal campaign, the fact that the demography of the victims almost precisely matches that of the population, that the bulk of victims are women and children, and that it is not currently clear how much of Hamas has actually been destroyed, or how much actual fighting between Hamas and the IDF is even happening currently are all major clues to that, in combination with the ICJ preliminary ruling, the UN special rapporteur findings, as well as public statements from the EU, UK foreign secretary and indeed the US state department in specific reference to the use of hunger as a weapon against the population. The US has been supplying the bulk of the munitions used to attack the civilian population and infrastructure this whole time. So walking away with your hands in your pockets and pretending you aren't involved isn't really an option at this point.
Netanyahu originally supported Hamas as a faction to uproot the prior Palestinian regime, due to the fact the prior regime wanted a two state solution so Israel and Palestinians can coexist. As Netanyahu supported Hamas for years, the IDF slowly chipped away at Hamas causing many conflicts in Gaza and indiscriminately killing the Palestinian people. With the recent agreement between many Middle East nations negotiating with Israel with out the Palestinian people to have a say in the land that they occupy, Hamas launched the Oct 7th attack on Israel as a desperate attempt to topple the negotiation with the Middle East and Israel. Recent report shows that Netanyahu not only supported Hamas but even approved the agreements Hamas had with Katur. Netanyahu was even aware of the Oct 7 attacks for a whole year. The recklessness of Netanyahu and his regime is creating what we see today. With Israels own people wanting to kick this tyrant and his cronies off their own power.
The only thing wrong with joes assessment of netanyahu is that he doesnt want palestinians to leave or he would make a way for them to leave. He wants to make plans that take out as many civilians as possible while claiming there was a hamas fighter there. This is warsaw 1939 but worse
I don't know if he wants to keep Palestinians in Gaza or not. I think Haley was correct in her assessment that neighboring Arab countries won't take them in, because they cannot know how many of them are Hamas supporters, and they don't want to risk destabilizing their own countries.

@@Lexomm1 You're right
Guilt makes one make really terrible decisions.

Israel targeted those workers purposely.
Fact.
what we NEED is the Geneva Convention and the Hague Convention to do it's job!!
And who and what do you think is stopping this from happening?

🎯

Likud party charter doesn't want two state solutions.
They can be strusted to control themselves the same as they can be trusted to investigate themselves.

Is this guy just said 18000 to 20000 dead looks like that is not the correct number
Two states. Remove settlements. Remove settlements.
Palestinians won’t accept any deal that includes the existence of Israel. That’s why they will NEVER have a state.
I ask the same question of my Jewish friends. Their answers are disappointing.
Find some Jewish friends who are anti zionist. We need to be careful about equating all Jews to Zionists. It opens the door to real antisemitism and we cannot afford to prove them right OR allow ourselves to slip into intolerance.

So basically, Hamas is a extension of Israel, and Israel attacked itself
Stop the nonsense! Hamas is no extension of Israel
