  • How to route Getgood Drums in Cakewalk by Bandlab!
    Check out my website and studio portfolio at www.PeaceItToge...
    Cakewalk by bandlab is an AMAZING DAW that I've been using for the last 10 years. There's no videos currently showing how to route getgood drums within the program so I decided to make one! Hope you find this helpful!
    This is also my first tutuorial video. Any pointer or tips on how to improve the quality or overall viewing pleasure of this video are greatly appreciated!

    buying a drum set and learning to play them is legit easier than figuring out how to use kontakt player. I'm not kidding, i tried to use EWQL back in the day and ended up just learning how to play the damn piano instead because i couldn't get kontakt to work for piano samples.

    Finally! A routing vid that actually makes sense to me. Great job! Thank you!!

    Attention: when you make the channels in Kontakt, you have to route them by clicking at the bottom of a channel, and then assigning that one to two corresponding outputs (you need to look at the number each option gives you, and then configure it by clicking through all of them and doing the same until the numbers at the bottom of the outputs are in sequential order starting at 1, as can be glimpsed in the video).

      I had to figure this part out on my own. I noticed in the vid that his channels were all assigned when he opened it up but mine were blank. It took awhile but I figured it out. Then I came back to comment about this and found your explanation lol

    Curious if you can help me out with something here. After making all the adjustments omni set, and multi out. I'm still getting the drums through a single channel.
    I'm using Modern/Massive on Cakewalk Platinum (Right before Band Lab took it over.)

      I had set my kontakt outputs up previously. You’re going to want to go to the inputs section and assign each one to the right track. Kind of time consuming but you’ll only have to do it once! Hopefully that explained it. If not I might have to do a follow up video.

      @@peaceittogetherstudios I'm having the same problem. Can you please do a follow up video and explain how to assign each one to the right track? Am I going to the inputs section on each track in my DAW to do this, or through Kontakt itself?!? (Great video by the way! I'm just stuck at this part)

    New Cakewalk Bandlab user. I have Fl. Studio, Cubase 6, Reason 10. Komplete 8 and recently Komplete 12 Ultimate. This was a good tutorial. Like and Sub. Your set up looks time consuming but like in the last comment, its a one time set up. Will this workflow set up work with all drum programs in Kontakt? No drum maps?

    Quick question, as someone who doesn't know much about drums; do the crashes not have their own channels, and are just heard through the overheads and room? I can hear them fine, but they just don't have their own channels. Were they not originally micced or something?

    • @BadBoyClub
      @BadBoyClub Год назад +1

      Crash cymbals are not traditionally individually mic'd as there is so much bleed from them it's impossible to isolate effectively therefore they are almost always covered with overhaeds. You can isolate MIDI drums using line out from a module but this is rarely done.

  • @aelarlightbringer6372
    @aelarlightbringer6372 2 года назад

    Also, how do you save this after it's created to use it in tracks? Do you somehow save the individual folder to add to songs? I know you can't need to route the drums for every project lol

    • @BadBoyClub
      @BadBoyClub Год назад +2

      If you save the project in Cakewalk you can use it as a template each time you want to create something new

    Bummer another video showing this as someone who hasn't already written the drums. I assume you have to set the instrument up as a multioutput instance before writing the drums in Cakewalk? Why cant we write drums with a stereo instance then do the multioutput and print drums when we are finished writing them like every other DAW?

    Hey at the 0:52 mark when you say to click that little icon all I see is Info, Keyboard, and Quick-load. So there is no magic happening for me. I am using the free Kontact 7 Player with GGD OKW Metal. What am I doing wrong?
