    I did wake up one morning and said, “I’m going to do keto”…that was Jan 20, 2020. I’ve never looked back! Since then I’ve learned what sugars, processed foods, Oxalates, low fat, etc does to my body. I also took a private moments w myself, and apologized to my body that I hadn’t been listening to the queues it had been giving me for years! I’m going to be 80 in six weeks…it’s never too late until it is! Appreciate your way of seeing it all. ❤️

      80 and healthy. I want us all to get there. That shouldn't be a dream. It should be the norm. I'm glad you found keto and that you kept it up all this time. I hope your comment inspired other wellness warriors to stay on track. Thank you.

      Absolutely. Struggled with food addiction my whole adult life. My goal is to sort that out in this lifetime. It doesn't matter at what age, it's never too late indeed, whenever it happens, will be a massive achievement for me :)
      Well done you 🎉

      I had the same experience though I had watched thousands of videos; I went to my PCP to tell him I was going to do Keto (Berg version - Yikes!). That's when he checked my A1C that was 10.1, he went crazy. Fortunately, I ran into Dr. Berry and dramatically cut down the veggies which truly worked fine by me. I started with eating a lot of bacon and eggs initially. Now I have a 4 day meat and 3 day fish regimen; eggs everyday.

    Once I discovered keto ( by accident) I did jump into it without forethought. I learned foods to eat vs foods to eliminate, when to eat, how much to eat, and I went for it. My very specific motivating goal was to be a *size 4 petite* vs just "lose weight". I learned about the "get healthy and weight loss will follow" ideal later on in my journey. Within 8 months I went from size 14 to *size 4* . I did this during the lockdown as a single person living alone. I was steadfast with no distractions. You and others on RUclips were my guides. Four years later, I'm healthier than I've ever been and *I'm still a size 4 petite* ! By far, my biggest challenge has been *other people* !!! When lockdown ended and we went back to the office, within 4 months, I gained *10 pounds* due to the outside influences you mentioned. Your counseling on socializing and especially restaurant meals got me back on track and have kept me there ever since! Thank you!

    This is such excellent reasoning!! I did keto during the pandemic and did great! Now I've gained the weight back because there's so much temptation in "real life". But this reasoning is resonating with me. THANK YOU

    Violet, this video has helped me identify and strengthen my reasons for being a carnivore. That is so important when most of society is saying your way of eating is wrong. Light bulbs went on when you compared cheat meals to infidelity. Cheating is never innocent.

    • @TheRoadtoHealth
      @TheRoadtoHealth  2 месяца назад +2

      Our choice of words is very deceiving. We aren't starving. We don't have keto flu (it's withdrawal), and of course, cheating on ourselves doesn't make any sense. I think if we were more clear in the way we speak to ourselves, we'd have realized our error and made changes years ago. But, these messages are reinforced by many of the professionals we look to for answers. It is very tricky to solve until you find the right community. I love the analogy about the seat belt/ driving!!! That put A LOT into perspective for me. I’m on day 11 of carnivore. I feel amazing but I have been negotiating with myself that I can go to back to eating some things once I get to my goal weight. I will carry your analogy with me to change this mindset. Thank you.

      I love knowing that my video helped you to see that the answer is to eat healthy all the time. The diet industry has us brainwashed to believe that we can be thin on the carbage that made us fat. That simply isn't true. Please keep me informed on your progress.

    I share your pain, Violet. When it comes to sweet foods (cookies etc.) I can't moderate either.There's no such thing as just ONE cookie. It's why I stopped making keto fat bombs, and using artificial sweeteners. All they did was prolong my sugar addiction and make it much harder to quit.

    • @TheRoadtoHealth
      @TheRoadtoHealth  2 месяца назад +2

      Our history with food plays a huge role here. The amount of sweet we had growing up, right until you want things to change, has an impact on the level of addiction we are trying to manage. We need to be honest and realistic to be successful.

    My mother at 92 had arthritis in her knee and already had her hip replacement at age 88 and had a hard time recovering from that so she was desperate. I said to her if you can avoid the four grains your arthritis will reduce and you might avoid an operation. She still had fruit and loved wine at the table but I weekly helped her with shopping to avoid all possible foods with wheat, rye, oats or barley and she never had to go back to the ER for pain shots and even de scheduled her knee replacement operation. She finally died of heat failure mainly because of stress about family stuff and almost didn't sleep anymore so lungs became full of moist and she had to have peeing pills that kept her up even more. She died age 97.
    Cereal causes leaky gut from gluten and other lectins and that hyper alerts immune systems to the point that immune cells go after every slightly inflamed tissue from normal small damages. this is cause of all auto immune illnesses. In a glucose metabolism this cannot be turned off.

      Eating plants causes so many unnecessary illnesses, but we eat them because we are told we need them. We need to examine the fact that our bodies react to these plants, and we are told to eat them anyway because some people react slowly. We all need to answer the question: Does it matter that it takes me longer to react if when the reaction happens, I will be suffering?

    Everyone is different and has their own journey. The reason why overweight people have failed with “dieting” is because of an ALL or NOTHING mentality, which won’t serve you for a success. I’ve lost 95 lbs with not restricting any food. I eat what I like, what satisfies me. I even have CARBS & ice cream. I’ve been able to maintain for three years. I’ve taken a realistic approach and don’t feel deprived.

      I have a very strong internal locus of control. As soon as I believe something is "correct," I will do it. That's why making a rule that said I didn't eat stuff I bought for my daughter worked.

      People who have lived negative experiences may make themselves less desirable targets as a defense mechanism. And, of course, people in power have been known to feed inappropriate foods to cause poor health. If you are in this situation, I'd suggest finding a therapist to help you make changes.

    Im back on carnivore. I absolutely loathe this way of eating but i can't stay away from sugar , i need my food freedom back . My cycles went haywire too . My mind is innthe dumps . Been on a heavy sugar. Binge since February. All started with a blueberry 🫐

      "All started with a blueberry," says it all. Today's livestream was on this topic. We are so brainwashed to eat fruit and veg that we ignore the pain it is causing our bodies, brains, and lives. Please be careful saying you "hate" eating healthy. That sets you up to stop as soon as you get back to a healthy weight, and we know what happens when we do that. Please find a good community so you get support. Wellness warriors in the wellnesssquad.org are very kind.
