  • The Ezra Institute brings you a new series with the Rebels when P Nate and Pootie are joined by a variety of guests talking about several key practical outworkings of theological concepts that will help Christians expand the Kingdom of God, see the dark pushed back, and slowly (like leaven working through the loaf) win the world.
In this episode, P Nate and Pootie invite Doug Wilson onto the show to discuss an unlikely place for world-conquering to start... with corporate worship. Wilson lays out a vision of worship that extends from the corporate gathering of local churches to the private practices of every Christian behind closed doors. If we want to win the world, we need to start with proper worship... because, in the Christian worldview, worship is warfare!

SO would you say from a reformed perspective that the kind of equipping that is happening on The Lord's Day every Sunday morning isn't the sort (as was mentioned early in the conversation) like what a seminary class does to "equip" but the sort that strengthens ones confidence/faith by the amount of trust it takes to believe God at His word and fellowship/commune with Him partaking of the Supper testifying to His promises?

9 minutes in and there’s already been such clear teaching on this matter. Lately I’ve been wanting to better understand covenant renewal worship, so this video came just in time. Keep up the excellent work!

    Hmmm,
i'm gonna be honest i haven't heard everything yet.
But is worship not suppose to be what we do everyday???
The topic sounds to me more like describing how we have communion.
Or fellowship or however you want to call the gatherings of the saints...
Don't get me wrong. Those are important.
Yet, i would say true worship is to act accoording to the character of God.
Not just one day, but actually everyday!!!
Or am i wrong in that conclusion???

Thanks for the question. You are not wrong in saying that all of life ought to be worshipful.
Dr. John Frame would call that worship in the broad sense. In the narrow sense, the corporate worship of our Triune God on the Lord's Day is what Pastor Wilson and the Rebels are discussing as it pertains to Covenant Renewal Worship. However, of note, CR services end with a Commissioning of the congregation to go out into the world and work worshipfully unto the Lord. Nevertheless, both worship in the broad and narrow sense are integral to the Christian life.
Hopefully, that helps. Keep watching, and if you haven't please hit the like and subscribe button to stay up-to-date with all we do.

So the Sunday morning service is for Believers and any unbelievers present are merely onlookers?
When does the preacher fulfill his commission to preach to the unconverted?
This model is a denial of the gospel by ommission. Maybe a gospel believing church but not a gospel preaching church. A church that depends on its growth from christians converted else where. Probably attracted by a strong stance against our decadent culture.
Form over substance missing the point that the heart of the matter is the matter of the heart.
