I feel ya bru on the "if I owe on taxes." I was a elementary school fellah, but I remember my parents & their friends dancing to this record in the basement @ many a parties. This banged in the clubs as well in the '90's well b4 Puff & Biggy got a hold of it.
The songs were written in the '70s. Recording of the album began in December 1979. This album turned up the cookouts, the block parties, the discos, everywhere... Diana and the band Chic (Chic was a very popular band in the late '70s who wrote and produced many hits for other artists) were at their apex. Biggest selling album of Diana's career. This album over is iconic too.

I think this was her first album and it was huge in those days.
Although "diana" was her most successful album, it absolutely was not her first album! This was her 9th solo studio album (outside of LIVE albums , a duet album with Marvin Gaye, and Soundtracks) if I recall correctly.
