I remember watching this in high school. Out of context it’s still incredible, but every rider that day was struggling in the wet conditions. Felt like every other rider was washing out on a slippery root or white knuckling and just trying to make it to the bottom. And then comes Danny, absolutely shredding the living shit out of a slippery ice rink trail after everyone prior seemed to struggle to make it down. Totally fucking electric.
I watched this live and to give it some context pretty much every other rider slowly picked their way down the mountain with most falling and he just turns up and completely destroys it throwing in whips and shit. Definitely one of the most amazing sporting moments I've ever witnessed.
I've watched this video 100+ times and I just realized that at 0:50 there is a French dude in the back yelling at the top of his lungs "Allez Danny! Fais-nous rêver!!" and it just adds to how epic this video is.
I don't think teenage girls scream more for Justin Beiber than these two scream for Danny Hart. Amazing performance though - makes me wanna go watch the whole thing!!

Almost 10 years since I watched this live. Have watched it at least a 50 times since and it still gets my heart pumping watching it tonight. Got me a Glory just like that a week after watching Danny smash it. You are a legend.
Every so often, you see an incredible performance, where all the training, all the blood sweat and tears, and all the stars line up! This is probably one of the top 10 performances in individual ports. It’s on parr with 1976 Klammer win in the Olympics DH ski, Tomba win in SLC, smashing time by 11 seconds is simply unheard off. I think the greatest performance was Beamon’s long jump in 1968. Record was not broken till 1991, but 56 years later it’s still an Olympic record!

RUclips recommended me a downhill movie today and I remembered seeing a downhill video with most epic commentary. Good to be back after 10 years! I hope Danny and both commentators are still doing what they're best at!
These are the kind of commentators we need, guys that actually LOVE the sport and get extremely excited over it. If the commentator is getting this excited I'm naturally going to feed off of their excitement and become interested in the event.
