& with the higher speed transmission, these would romp along. East Kent had 9 of these in 1977, of which i owned NFN 84R.

I think these are one of those dual purpose versions I've read about.
    Likely has a highway diff.

It felt like a coach honestly, And I am aware that in certain periods of time, there were operators that used nationals on long-distance operations, so maybe this was one of those?

The least thrashed National ride I’ve ever heard, normally revved to the limit flat out at 50mph, and every gear to get there, definitely got a longer diff in it….👍😉🇮🇲👌

I think the driver was just taking it easy in this case for the punters, since they do bounce a lot. It was still a nice national though.

@@kieranstravels We had these in Jamaica in the 70s .They were bought by the Jamaica Omnibus Service to replace the Leyland Olympics but the Olympics outlived them . The bodies were very good but the engine was a different story .

@@robertcamble3543There was many different engine and gearbox specs when it came to nationals over the years. There was even a DAF powered national at some point!

    I predict it wants a new turbo😢

Potentially. It still sounds relatively healthy at the moment

Labouring the engine under the power band is just as damaging as thrashing it.
