  • 'Citywide' is a 33 minute film made for the Citywide Drugs Crisis Campaign organisation. It describes Citywide's work and the story behind the drugs crisis in Dublin and Ireland as it evolved from the 1980s to 2012. Citywide is a national network of community activists and organisations that are involved in responding to the Irish drug problem and associated issues. The film includes interviews with a wide range of people from around Ireland who work with the problem of drug abuse, archive film, photographs including the work of Derek Speirs and actuality of inner city and suburban areas in Dublin, Waterford and Limerick. Citywide was set up in 1995 by the Inner City Organisations Network (ICON) to bring together Dublin communities that were struggling with the heroin epidemic. Citywide now work nationally, linking communities across the country dealing with a range of substance abuse issues.

    I was born 1980 and it was the greatest fun ever as a child until heroin came lost, alot t of riends

    don't know how I found this but it does seem we're in the 80s again as regards heroin use in limerick

      Ya all these documentaries are the same all about 80s epidemic in Dublin. Too lazy to get new footage. Even the interviews are all about the 80s laziness

      It came to Cork and limerick fin the 00s . Nothing mentioned not to mention all the towns across the country Clonmel, Tralee, Waterford. All Dublin up until 1998. When was this made.

      Why would they bring it back if it didn’t work back then it’s not the 80s and 90s anymore the gangs are way more dangerous and powerful than they were back in the old days the cpad and the vigilantes would be shot nowadays

      @@Zazaking-fg6jd yoo the cpad were backed up by SF and it’s why they were able to March. Buynow there’s a cease fire but the ra get protection money from every drug dealer the big boys that’s why they sell drugs everywhere. If the cease fire ended tomorrow the protection money would stop and most could get shot for still selling it. Most kids from parents of the cpad are the biggest drug dealers today open your eyes remember the bombs left at doors and drug punishers paid up .Edited I can’t see what I’m rightinging so bear with me the second last word was drug pushers not punishers you’ll read this first.
