I have mixed feelings about this, while I generally love this company and Alban Lendorf. The acting was fine, the dancing quite good. I adore the plot twist in the end of this version (best ever) and the von Rothbart. However, I do not like this set or especially the lighting. I also like some of the costumes, but not others. The whole thing seems way too dark, and the soloists do not stand out cleanly from the chorus and background. It's a color balance and highlighting thing that is a real problem here. I don't mind the exoticism or modernization of some of the costumes, but they don't seem to form a consistent locale or make any clear statement about the situation.
Yes...staging is something like a Game of Thrones set painted by Caravaggio...which I actually don't dislike... it's just that you can't see the dancers well...and camera work doesn't help...makes me dizzy...these angles just don't work for ballet...

Well said ... The supposed Queen/Creature dominated the scene for me.
Félicitation pour se beau spectacle Gisou Nono Danielle
Awesome!!
based on the costumes and sets i am assuming this is taking place on planet arrakis?
No, it takes palce in the opera house of "Metropolis".....
Good dancers, badly staged, poor stupid lighting unsuitable colors, poor imagination and taste of the person who did the setting!
I agree
Agreed, the staging is terrible.
