I like how the presenter talked about Americans, but this truck was never sold in America. It was completely different than the NA Ranger.
Except the diesel at that time is underpowered, putting out 103 HP I think. But mpg is pretty good like my dad's Mighty max/Triton Turbodiesel.
What's interesting is that model year with the N/A Diesel engine is more better in 0-60 than the turbo, but will face differences than the Powerstroke V8's I have in the U.S.
Britain and the EU have completely different weight classes and licensing arrangements so you’ll never see American pickups sold over here. Many of them need a commercial license. Not that there aren’t enthusiasts, but it’s a big thing to take on.
Should've talked about Australia. This is a workhorse in Australia.
Mexico IS in America.
My dad has a single cab of one of these and i can only find 1-2 pics in google of same exact car its right wheel drive was sold in greece and had options like grills and front bars and stuff
I own one and I can say that rangers are a whole lot better in America
I agree. Until recent years because we don't get them now. :( I do wish Ford offered the Diesel more in the ones in the states. Even if it wouldn't be the quickest, it would be nice to have. If you're super lucky you can find an 80s ranger with the 2.3 diesel. Hold onto it if you do!
America Rangers aren't even Diesel. You're a fool if you think North America Rangers are better than this. The third world market pick up trucks are real working truck's
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess Ye the new ford rangers in well basically everywhere except America are more work horses but the American ones are pretty much lifestyle vehicles. I mean common the American rangers payload is already maxed out with 5 adults in the truck, not an issue with the worldwide version.
bcz pickup trucks get the job done unlike Range Rovers
And this was back when pickups were work tools rather than expensive luxury yachts

What an odd looking Ford Ranger! I have never seen one that looks anything like this, and also had no idea that a 4 door version existed!
RetroCrazed1 yeah, never seen a 4-door one in North America....must be Euro-spec I guess. I was gonna say I'm envious they got a turbo-diesel, but apparently it was a dog.
@@dpajc056 North America has 4 door Ford Ranger in México.
It's a badge-engineered Mazda B2500.
Because this is a collaboration with Matsuda, these small pick up trucks are mostly for Latin America or other third world markets. Third world markets have a lot of great trucks that north America or Europe never got, like double cab Hilux, a variety of Land cruisers, specially the open top 70 series Land cruiser (for Middle east market too), or the long wheel base Suzuki samurai SJ413. They also have the Chevrolet D20 which is a GREAT truck! Which is a small to medium truck but in South America it's considered a big truck, it had bench front roll and sits 6 and had spacious bed, and it's strong and Diesel like a working truck should be. The latin America Chevy D20 is both comfy and strong
I want to one day import a SJ413 Samurai, a Chevrolet D20 or specially a 70 series Land cruiser from Latin America
I have an American made 1999 ranger. And till this day all I've done to it is oil change, brakes, and change coolant. Witch I did myself and wasn't too hard. 141735 miles and still runs like a champ being a 4 banger.
Good to know, I just got a 99 ranger yesterday 133k miles. It was a state meter inspector car
I had the mazda version, 300.000 km no worrys. Bulletproof.
the single can short bed truck (of any make) is great, especially the small ones. Good mpgs, 4wd, can always be fixed cheaply
I like my 98 Ranger 2-5L gas.The steering wheel is on the left which is the correct side.
🤔🤣🤣
It’s different in other country’s
What is the top speed of this car ? (2.5 tdci no turbo)
He got a lot wrong as it turns out nearly 20years later, poor little office clerk ......
I love Ranger!
they are called the Ford Courier in NZ/AUS changed to ranger in 07-08 i think..
Wish they would’ve released this in America I would love to have a four-door diesel ranger
Is this 4x4?
Have a 98 4.0 ranger 4x4 total gas pig less than 200 miles a tank no physical leaks, anyone have any suggestions of whats going on
Get either factory size tires if you don't already, or go slightly smaller. Gear a little higher, accelerate a little slower. But you'd be surprised how much large tires eat your MPG. Try to stay bellow 70 on these. They do good at 55 for gas.
Also sold as mazda. Fucking bulletproof vehicles. Had one.
Algien que me pueda ayudar a legalisar mi ranger 99
I want the variant TREKKER 4X4
It's not that slow, I own the exact same one. Mine tops out at 170km/h
Nice one
The potential of these vehicles if you know what your doing is remarkable haha. Aftermarket intercooler and 2.5 - 3 inch exhaust. Turn up fuel screw.. turn up psi.. tune the boost compensator to make boost kick in early and she can move.
bruh why didint bring the 4 door to the usa dam we lost out big time love my 07
Is a Mazda B2300 series
2.400
i think a standard cab would be better on lil rangers and s10s, a crew cab is kinda overkill for a small truck
i do love burgers donuts and muffins
Rangers have never been know for speed but wow that is slow. In the US you can at least get a 4.0. well that was until Ford pulled it from the US markets. UGH
Until now lol. Now it's a 2020 ford ranger with the mustang 5.0 ooooooo
It’s funny how he expects a diesel to be fast 😂
Why tf would you want a working pick up truck to be fast? This Mazda truck will tow any fast sport car when it breaks and have plants more towing capacity left
He got that wrong then, pick ups are very popular now🤣
A defender is faster
take it off road like it should be used. bell
Brake horsepower is the most oxymoronic European saying that I have ever heard. Brake means to stop and horsepower means to go.
Made in Thailand
Someone get this video taken down please
Why?
LOL! I feel you!
T6 spare parts
The car sucked then and still sucks now haha
Ur wrong
@@lauchlanstill6677 2 years later and I still think so lol
