Salina, the second for extent among Eolian Islands, is a treasure chest easy to discover.
As all the other six pearls of Mediterranean sea, Salina has its own character: thoughtful, quiet, romantic and full of colors.
A trip to this island is a total experience since your first steps on its rocky land.
You can start the exploration from its wonderful seasides, cliffs, stony beaches, sea caves, or you can begin your visit walking along the narrow alleys of little villages as Rinella, Pollara, Lingua, Santa Marina Salina, Leni and Malfa.
Each one of them gets its own history and tradition.
Lingua, for example, with its white houses, lies near a little lake, maybe an old salina that gave the modern name to the island;
Rinella is the secondary pier. A sunny intimist village in front of a beautiful black beach;
Pollara, set of famous films, looks at the sea from a spectacular cliff and offers one of the best sunset of the entire archipelago;
Santa Marina Salina, the main settlement, a calm and elegant little town facing without shyness the biggest Lipari;
Malfa, the homeland of Malvasia, the sweet wine renowned all around the world.
But Salina is even more than this.
Incredible landscapes and seascapes, a bucolic countryside, exciting trails for trekking, a delicious typical cuisine, it is impossible to fill the list of attractions.
There is just one way to understand its charming soul.
To live it, breathing its atmosphere and feeling the vibes of this colorful island.

Thank you Mircea! Salina is wonderful!
My grandmother too is from here. When I visited--I never wanted to leave. I am frequently drawn to those moments. Pure serenity...

Oh Andy--it is wonderful to hear back from you.
Paradise indeed.
What is your history with Salina?
Sandy
@@sandyciccone6418 I've been there when I was a child for the first time. I felt in love immediately. So next I came back several times visiting all of them. I'm from Sicily.
@@andreadistefanoMS How wonderful that you are living in Sicily!

A lovely island. I love looking at the endless sea. I miss the sea.
Thanks Pavel. This is a special island, wonderful sea and excellent wine!
This is a very beautiful video. This island is worth a visit.
Thank you. Your comments are very important to me. Aeolian Islands are really unique!
I recently spent 3 days on this island. I have an uncle who lives here although he isn't originally from there.
The 3 days I spent there seem like a dream. I have not ever been to a place on earth that is more beautiful and exquisite. It is as serene as is it presented in the video here - possibly even more beautiful still. I cannot wait to return there.
Moreover - because so many residents have a connection to Australia there is such a clear relationship with it. Aussie flags abound with motifs of kangaroos.
The island touches my heart.
Thank you Sam for sharing with us your experience. Salina is undoubtedly wonderful, a bunch more than my video shows. I had several other comments by people living abroad but with some connections with the island and all were in love with Salina. Thank you for visiting this channel!
Beautiful video and awesome island. Fantastic vacation spot. Greetings and best wishes. ThUp.
It is different from Canary Islands but Salina is a beautiful island too.
A customer who usually don't make long conversation told me about this lovely island she had visited some time ago. She insisted I should visit this place someday because my name is Salina as well. She seems like a quiet person but I am happy she felt the need to tell me this because the place looks beautiful ❤️ Thank you for this video.
Salina.
It’s true, Salina is much more beautiful than shown in my simple video. There is plenty of reasons to visit the island but you have a special one: a really nice and unusual name! 😃 I wish you to go there once so you can tell me your opinion. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
@@andreadistefanoMS Hi Andy,
Salina is on the top of my bucket list. I will definitely give you my opinion once I visit this beautiful place. Thanks 😊
@@andreadistefanoMS I come to half of Salina and Switzerland. That Wideo fills me very well and shows Salina in all its glory.👍🏻😁

Grazie a te del commento. Sono d’accordo, Salina è un sogno.
@@andreadistefanoMS Sto guardando tutte le tue video. Sei bravissimo!
Is on my list of places to visit because my grandfather is from there (Marino Donato Laurichella), hope I can go and visit soon!! Beautiful video!!! Thanks for share!!
Thank you for watching, Ezequiel! You’ll be surprised by Salina, much more beautiful in real life than in any video!
Vorrei tanto visitare queste isole 😍
Ne vale davvero la pena! Aspettiamo tempi migliori. Grazie per il commento.

Beautiful video! I visited Salina too in order to know more about famous ‚postino‘.
Lovely movie “Il Postino” and Salina was a perfect set for it. Now you should try the other Islands if you already didn’t. Thanks for appreciating the video. It’s easy to film such beautiful places.
@@andreadistefanoMS I know and love them all and have been there many many times, you may watch my video too? ruclips.net/video/BBTEkF9CqXo/видео.html

This is great! You should visit it if you did not already. Salina is wonderful! Thanks for watching!
I have been there a few times and never want to leave. Sometimes I wish I retired there for at least six months of the year.
Would be a good idea. Me too I would like to live in Salina. Have a nice Sunday!

Hello, may I ask a question? Is there a means of transportation from Catania to Salina Island? Thank you
Not directly. Salina is quite far from Catania and you must reach Messina or better Milazzo to catch a ferry for Salina. There are several connections between Catania and Messina by bus or train. From Messina you can take the overcraft to Aeolian Islands. From Milazzo (few kilometers west of Messina) you have both ferries for cars and boats only for passengers.
@@andreadistefanoMS 🌷Thank you very much, brother
My nonno is from here
Really? So You should come and see with your own eyes. It is a wonderful island!
@@andreadistefanoMS I plan on it
Well! If you need any suggestions, please ask.
From where exactly? Santa Marina, Malfa, Lingua, Rinella, Pollara....?
Hi Andrea. My grandmother was Grazia Di Stefano who was married to Vincenzo Lamaro. My father was Antonio Lamaro born 13/2/1882 who came to Australia in 1900. Are you related ?
Hi Anthony, nice to meet you here! My second name is Di Stefano but I am from Catania, on the east coast of Sicily and I have no knowledge about relatives on Lipari islands. Di Stefano is a frequent name in Sicily but I cannot say if we’re someway related. Maybe yes, who knows? Have you ever been to Salina?
@@andreadistefanoMS Yes I visited Leni on Salina in 1961 as my father's sister still lived there. I again visited in 2008 with my wife Anna, I could not believe the change to the number of people who now lived there. In 1961 their was only one bus that went from Rinella to Malfa. In 2008 their is now a bus terminus full of buses that go around the Island. The population is now grown ten times.
@@anthonylamaro230 Oh Yes! Time goes by and things change quickly but Salina is still a wonderful place to live, maybe now more than before. Thank you for your witness!
I want to know more about my grandfather that I know he was born in Santa marina di Salina. If somebody knows someone that actually live there I will appreciate to get in contact. Saludos!!!!
Hi Ezequiel! I’ll ask to some friends I have there and in case I’ll give your reference.
Andrea Di Stefano thanks a lot!!! Just in case this is my instagram: @polotourar or also this is my email ezequielmo@hotmail.com
