I think one reason that Rob Key said that he's unsure of what needs to be done for the game globally may be that, particularly while he is working for the ECB, it's not for him to tell other countries what they should be doing. I suspect that he has some ideas but knows he doesn't have the power to implement them and doesn't want to offend other boards by appearing to preach to them how they should act.

I'm only a few minutes into the interview but it's clear that the current trend of England players and others associated with the team deflecting praise and attention from themselves and onto others and the team as a whole well and truly extends to Rob Key too.

Ha, wait till you see the first second after the interview ends with the two blokes arguing whose idea it was to get MB to speak to RK. I know they were only joking, but your point is valid and I think we can all be better at deflecting praise. Especially when you watch the true elite doing it!

To my mind Warnie was the first to articulate that he was an entertainer but he never sacrificed the imperative of winning on the alter of entertainment. He was one player with the extraordinary ability to marry the two.
My observation with the English, is they are so married to entertainment, that loosing is no shame when we can accept we entertained people and tomorrow is another day.
It's one thing to celebrate five runs an over, it's altogether an animal of a different stripe to win test matches.
Be very careful of becoming intoxicated with the propaganda of bazzball. Let's just keep our powder dry till England are 4 for 30 and see how well bazzball stands up then.
This test match was totally controlled and set up by Uzzi Khawaja. Pure genius. Nothing England did, altered the pace and situation of the game. This was test cricket 101 according to Uzzi.🇭🇲
My suggestion to England is to keep playing golf in preparation for a test match. Australia will probably continue to jeopardize their chances by winning the world cup of test cricket and selecting players with a preexisting medical condition.
What degree of arrogance is required to think England would kick the arses of Australia by picking a front line spin bowler with an injured finger. The Pomms will get rolled in every test unless the weather saves them.

English people prioritise self-interest and class. You’ll rarely hear an English person invite “you & any of your friends” to their party. They will decide who, they will decide the class.
BazBall or whatever. English people will always live and play cricket through a prism of entitlement. It’s an exciting style, born by a New Zealander, trying to paste over the still stale & elite society that English cricket represents. There is no silver bullet.

Unfortunately that has become a part of most societies today... But yes, it is definitely a very English thing to do by some but not all...
If they don't have talent the elite buy it so by owning it they feel they have it... Some people's 'self esteem' comes from having to feel superior to others and to do that they feel that they have to own everything.
It's a power and control thing. It's part of that Empire mentality.
