Thank you for this video! Wow! Took me 3 weekends, both Saturday and Sunday worked about 4-6 hrs per day. I changed out the water pump, gallery gaskets, all the pulleys, belt. Z1 motorsports has all this in a kit, about $300 for water pump kit which includes all the gaskets + gallery gaskets and o-rings, and $400 for the pulley kit with belt. 2008 G37 had 200k miles on it and then the water pump went. This would be the second belt tensioner I have installed but the old pulleys were getting "crunchy" feeling when you spin them. Be sure and drop your sway bar and that helps access to all the pumps underneath the car. Also be sure and paint your stripe all the way across the timing chain, pulley and timing case. Do not make the mistake I made and go across just the chain and the case because the bottom harmonic balancer makes multiple revolutions against the cams on top when you spin it to tension it back up.
@ do you think this is possible for someone to do with basic car knowledge ? and do you think i’m better off taking off the front end if i’m not 100% knowledgeable and if so how do i go about getting the ac out?
I know it's been a year, also been concerned with pulling this out as it runs under the plenum. So you just forcefully pull, how do you know if it's back in place? I cannot find any videos removing or installing this. Thanks@@mastertech6049
I wouldn't reccommend using a torch on the crank pulley bolt, as the harmonic balancer has a thin rubber vibration dampener in it and if you heat the pulley up it will soften and compromise the integrity of the balancer function. A heavy duty breaker bar, a long pipe for leverage, and pure muscle power is the best way. Just sayin' ......
I’m assuming an impact would not fit in there with the front end on correct? I have severe anxiety when it comes to working on my car and like to RUclips as much as possible before I attempt because it’s my daily and shit needs to be done fast lol
@@ssjdavid If the radiator and ac condenser is in vehicle, no. I used a large breaker bar, the handle from my jack, and a long strong screwdriver wedged between pulleys. Leave serp belt on and break bolt free before you do anything! Put something under screwdriver so you don't crush pulley grooves, then use good old fashioned muscle to break free. Took me 1 weekend to repair. First day disassembly and prep of parts for re-assembly(cleaning, old gasket removal.) I HIGHLY suggest you clean all exposed surfaces. IMPORTANT: You MUST drop oil pan to remove 2 front bolts holding cover on. If you overlook this step you will break cover. And yes, they are expensive to replace! Clean timing chain pulleys once cover removed, bring around to line up all marks, then use white nail polish to enhance the marks! Above all else, patience and cleanliness and you will be successful. And yes, I am a retired 20+ year mechanic, and have experience on this particular engine. ( Hint: Engine de-greaser and a high pressure hose works well for cleaning timing cover ....then paint it! Looks sharp in a metallic color!) Questions? Poppop4five@gmail.com if I can help.

You already know I’m subbed
right on bro
The most detailed and informative video on how to do this l, really appreciate it
Will be dropping part 2 soon
nice video g
Random question could you possibly get the power steering pump off from the bottom without having to remove much
It’s held by a bracket and about 3-4 bolts as I remember, and can only be taken out from the top
Where's part2 ,cant find video
you can do this same way on g37 coupe??
This is a G37 coupe

@@rubennavarro1286 no don’t do it without car knowledge. Timing chain work isn’t for beginners at all
how do I remove the upper coolant filler neck??
Unbolt the 3 bolts holding it and then pull it out, it’s gonna need some force
@@mastertech6049 thanks

@@mastertech6049 And Also Did You Change The Timing Chain As Well ?
@@prettyboynate66 no there’s no need to

impact gun is the best way, it removes it little by little, gently hammering it off.

Its definitely another bolt on the back side of that compressor.
correct
Bro, you don’t have to move all that stuff just to get to your water pump. You are doing way too much, you bugging
Oh yeah? Why do you educate me then big bro
