Even with the delays and cost overruns, the $16B and 5 year design-to-EIS is still quite impressive. Compared to the beleaguered development, delays and horrendous cost overruns of the Concorde, 787, A380, 777X and the MAX
Nah.. you need to change.pretty much everything then it would be like the new vw beatle... that is.. it kind of sort of rembles the old one, but have nothing to do with it.
Yes Boeing learnt so much from WW2 & the 707 etc. These were wonderful design Engineers from B29 thru to 2nd gen 707s & other projects. But there was trouble brewing from taking on McDouglas to missing the pitfall pitfalls ,& loss of many many wonderful Design Engineers and particularly the real accountants that had always kept the Company in the Black & sometimes when the banks helped them threw downturns. But ultimately MacDoug & the blue suits did it'll by themselves! Maybe I said too much, or Key people said not enough when Porkies were being told in the Boardroom. That's enough from me!
Strange that the C5 galaxy is still flying and it came out before the 747 but i guess that when it's a military project and tax payers are footing the bill then they can fly forever
Worth every penny.
Pan Am is sorely missed. It was the Queen of airlines, full of style in every way
It would have been more interesting to include how much they made on the plan after 50 years of production
The days when Boeing was run by engineers and not bean counters.
Worth it.

They should really retake the 747 program and put dual GE9X engines to modernize and continue the legacy of the queen of the skies

Nostalgia for when Boeing knew what it was doing and was good at it.

I Will miss the 74. Modern double aisle twins look all the same
Damn, 25 airframes covering over 80% of development cost. Stings even more that the A380 program was scrapped even though it sold over 200 planes :(
IF 25 airframes were manufactured with 100% profit margin, which wasn't the case.
Writers of these videos are usually weak at arithmetics.
3:36. ……..but the same could never 👎 be said about AIRBUS WITH THEIR A380.
Perhaps, but Airbus has been nailing it with the NEO's and the quality put into each plane.
