I want to like Nimbus, I really do. But the writers forgot to give them something very important for comedic relief characters. Situational awareness. Then again, no one in this expansion seems to have that.
Nimbus is really not that bad post-campaign, and even then, they're not as cringe as everyone says. In a world where Forspoken and Borderlands 3 exist, their writing is actually tolerable 💀
It took me 4 hours to beat Calus. Maybe i just suck at the game. And yes. That one vex boss is indeed a pain to beat. That one took me almost the same amount of time, even longer. It was not fun.
@@mlugo9 Its dumb too because when i did it the second time on another character It only took me 30 minutes. Maybe its because i had known the fight and how to optimize my gameplay.

I did the same thing, but at one point in the fight, I was one shot so I tried to do a quick 180 and tag Calus with the witherhoard then grapple away. I arced it too low, the witherhoard projectile _bounced off_ the cover, and _killed me_ with the splash! I know that death was entirely my fault, but I was _seething_ afterwards, lmao.
Nimbus ain't that bad, he's just kinda nothing. Bland, inoffensive. It feels like bungie really wanted to have a cool nonbinary character but fell into the classic representation pitfall of making the "representation" Kinda who they are. Cause Nimbus isn't that interesting outside of this specific gender identity, which I'd argue isn't much of a personality trait in itself. Had Lightfall been better written, more satisfying, less vague, I think Nimbus would have been significantly better received. It's difficult to critique this character in earnest.
@@raigrex8362 their entire character is making cheap lame jokes even as his father figure dies and when caitals father dies nimbus is just a pos honestly
Without the whole "representation" thing, I have to agree. Yes, he's not that bad, some people find him worse than others. Personally, to me, i just found his dialogue kind of just meh and His writing could have been better to the point of making him feel more dynamic than just the fun, jokey stereotype. At least with Finch he felt more fleshed out than Nimbus if you know what i mean
@Raigrex nimbus doesn't have a character. He's got no goals, no stakes, no nuance other than "cloudstrider." Because we have other characters who make jokes in the face of danger that we like way more. Like Drifter and Crow and Cayde. The problem with nimbus is there was no room for development. And what does that mean? Means people who engage with this character come away with only a few observations. One, they're nonbinary, and two, that's kinda it. Representation is important, but it's must be done well, or you work backwards. There were people who were never going to like nimbus simply because of their identity, but bungie didn't do a very good job giving the rest of us any real reason to like this character either. I think nimbus is fine, personally. Some folks hate him and I think that's unnecessary and unfair. Nimbus is a symptom of other issues with Lightfall, and hits the same bumps in the road other minority characters have before. Having been a minority since day 1, I'm keen to this sort of thing. If I write a character as Apache, and then make that their entire personality to the point all anyone knows is that this character wears a feather in their hair and has a medicine pouch, I haven't written an interesting character, I have written a caricature. Nimbus, unfortunately, is a caricature. Not even a bad one really, but one that's gonna get unfairly hated on because they're nonbinary. Writing these kinds of characters requires care and attention that bungie did not give. Maybe as time goes on, nimbus will be given an opportunity to really shine and come into their own, but we didn't see a whole lot from Fynch after the fact so I'm not holding out.

Honestly the last stand with Caiatl was awesome but would’ve been even greater if we had some House Light back up.
Agreed, hope we get something more like this in the future that gives us last stand vibes
