- During 2007, a Duke production team was tasked with producing the definitive documentary about rally legend Colin McRae. With full access to all the WRC recordings of Colin's championship years, plus other rally and family archive, Duke Video's team compiled the most comprehensive career record yet of this remarkable sportsman.

Working closely with McRae Motorsport Ltd, we also had rare and exclusive access to Colin during a hectic year in which he was about to launch his first production rally car, the amazing R4, was contracted to the X-raid BMW team for Dakar 2008, was involved in the launch of the latest version of his hugely successful computer game 'Colin McRae-Dirt' and was seriously considering a return to the WRC.
The crew also joined Colin driving the R4 in public for the first time at Goodwood and thrilling the crowds in his unique Ford Escort Mk 2 at the Manx National Rally. Finally we were especially privileged to spend two days in Lanark with Colin and his family. Here Colin talked candidly about every aspect of his career and life, his favourite - and not-so-favourite - drives, events, teams and his plans for the future. The result is the critically-acclaimed Colin McRae - Rally Legend.

So glad Colin drove the legendary Mk2s when he could have stuck to 4wd computerised turbocharged modern day cars but man could he pedal an old skool rear drive mk2 along at pace. Sorely missed and ask anyone about rallying in the 90s and 00s....one name sums it up Colin McRae.

A rally legend....I've seen Colin with this escourt at rally of the lakes..when he raced in extra stage around the horse racing track in Killarney...and competed in many of the rally stages..the man was always on the limit
I met Colin at kirkfieldbank greenhouses 27 yrs ago when I was 15 at the motocross track I made.. his brother Alastair and Colin were there tearing up my track at least once a month and he gave me a shot of his prodrive wrx Subaru to say thanks... The Ford Escort is one of the best cars in the world IMO. I drove one for 9 years, but before I owned it there 14 previous owners... Of course it needed parts swapping out here and there in the time I had it but I put a fast 1.6 cross flow in it and that thing was flying lol the speeds you could take corners on the tarmac was crazy, had big fat 352 Yokohama tyres on it they made it feel like you just cruising at 100km/h. Was a super fun car.

101st comment...I stuffed one of those (a 1630 crossflow with twin 45's) into a brand new volvo 850....It had had a full rebuild and was legally on the road for a full 30 minutes.....Am still gutted now 24 years later......And rip Colin!
Beat Dirt 2 in the Escort, saw the special tribute video for Colin, basically I found Dirt 2 to be the best rally game I've ever played. But then again, I really enjoy the others too.

was lucky enough to see colin driving this car at leyland test track many years ago, he spent his own time sideways. and i mean sideways around most corners! Not just a few of them! After he had completed the first stage he drove past the spectators who lined the road and applauded him all the way back to were his crew where. Unbelievable experience, he has waved and said hi and thanks to everyone through the window also. What a guy!
