That’s how the gaming industry works. Microsoft bought Mojang and they never created another masterpiece like Minecraft is another example. The big dawgs in the industry get threatened by creative projects that outsell their own games so they make sure they can’t produce any more by buying them out
They were initially pulled to write the dialogue (or at least aid in writing the dialogue) for half life alyx. After that they were free to choose their own projects to work on and the developers chose to merge into other groups within valve doing various other things instead of going back to making their own games. It was actually their decision to go and work on various projects considering the generally unprecedented freedom that employees within valve enjoy.
TBPH, I Think This Game Deserves A Sequel, I'm Sure Many Would Agree. Perhaps it could take place maybe 5 or so years after the Events of the first game, such as Hank/Henry went back to see Julia, only for her to pass away the day after he visits. In his grief, he might run away to a new state/country to pursue another short career in Firewatching or Forest Ranger-ing. Mayhaps This Time, There are 2 bosses, 1 male, 1 female, who Henry happens to befriend but also comes to realise are romantically involved with eachother, causing him to pull back a bit and distance himself from them, only for something tragic to happen 2 on eof the 2, forcing Henry's job to be put on indefinite hold, maybe the park closes for a while. After that, who k owns, maybe he decides to go drink his sorrows away at some random bar... Only to be met with a familiar voice. Maybe for one final scene, he could finally meet Delilah, if just for a brief moment. Go ahead Valve, Take My idea if you like it, I do not care. Anything to milk the story and lore of this amazing game just a little further.
i know a guy who works for campo santo, he used to work for my uncle, he said that a firewatch 2 is always mentioned, and everytime it is its discussed more
Campo Santo hasnt been fully dispersed! Though most of there developers have been reassigned I heard from someone who knows a Campo Santo developer that they aren't actively developing but that there is still story being worked on for in the valley of the gods
Yeah I hope they're still working quietly on it and I'm happy for them to have the excellent opportunities Valve has to offer. But as a fan of Firewatch and their Telltale work it's just a shame to see and hear nothing from them after the acquisition and with Valve's reputation for sitting on properties It's easy to think nothing will ever happen, but thats just me being doom and gloomy
Everything you did in this video was very well done and I'm surprised it's not more popular since this was made with such quality. Keep up the great work! (Also, Valve sucks for buying out Campo Santo and then forcing them onto other projects.)
I loved this game and was extremely disappointed to hear in this video, even though it's old news, that we will most likely never get another game from Campo Santo. I wish companies like Valve, Microsoft, etc. Would stop buying up every little company they can. We get great games from these indie developers and then buy them up so they can keep releasing they're half cooked buggy broken games with competition.
I guess there’s always hope but the campo santo devs seem to have been redeployed to other valves stuff. They helped right Half Life: Alyx which is cool for them but sucks for us! In the Valley of the Gods looked like it was going to be an incredible followup to Firewatch
Well the game has exploded now, and is currently being put on as a main title on the Xbox store so I really hope valve sees all this and allows them to make fire watch 2
Who was that person deliah was talking to saying "no he doesn't know" that was never answered in the game Update : I did another run with commentary it was just another lookout
If anything, being absorbed by Valve means that the developers would had earned crazy royalties from games like DoTA2 and be able to retire. So even though it's bad news for us that there's no part 2, at least the developers got their happy ending. (most likely)
The thought of valve employees playing this emotional and well made journey put into a game and going "oh yeah, let's acquire these guys. We need them to update Dota." Makes my blood boil.
I love this game and play it every year but the ending was a big anticlimax. From a few of the early trailers I thought there was going to be a big twist at the end that Henry had actually gone crazy after his wife got sick and maybe even died. Delilah was actually a psychologist that was trying to help Henry in a mental hospital. Maybe he even killed his wife to put her out of her misery.
It's purposeful. You get immersed in the game and attached to the characters, just to immediately get thrown back into reality, the same way Henry was quickly taken out of the job he took to escape what was happening back in his real life.
Apparently this person doesnt understand how an Iceberg deep dive works...Everything in here is just common knowledge anyone who even remotely casual played the game and figured out lol
I DOVE right into the base game. Bruh you didn't explain anything anyone who has played the game knows. "Iceberg" not. Waste of time. Thank you for this 💩
Bruh that's not even a spoiler it's litterally the game image on stores with an iceberg placed on it. Plus if you didn't want it spoiled, you shouldn't have watched this video.
I can’t stand Valve. How dare they buy this great company and tell them hey no more games. Work on DOTA. Ugh wtf

A prequel might also be interesting. Following Ned and Brian Goodwin.

Nice that people are still talking about/playing this game
I just watched Jenn McCalister play this and it brought me all the way back to when I first played it. Chills every single time.

If anyone is curious, shoshone is pronounced show-show-knee
Who was that person deliah was talking to saying "no he doesn't know" that was never answered in the game
Update : I did another run with commentary it was just another lookout
But what is it Henry doesn't know? Or was it Ned she meant?
Idk how this channel doesn't have more subscribers tbh like this is super high quality
No sequel. Would defeat the whole narrative (mystery) premise

I know some of them worked on Half Life: Alyx which must have been a dream come true! But I’ll mourn the stories we’ve lost in the meantime
I will hear more abaout that Ending or after Ending with Henry and Delilah
yeah sorry but this wasnt a deepdive at all
I’ll take it out the title 😔
One of my favourite games of the last ten years. Thanks for your insights

@@Avalon_1991 that is Kinda on you tbh
The ending is what makes it so special tho imo, its realistic and the message that we're all just human and we each have our own paths
'Shoshone' is pronounced - "sho-SHO-nee". No biggie. Just letting you know.
I just want a DLC or two following ned and brian Goodwin, and Ron and Dave
I completed Firewatch 15 min ago
How did you find it?
Valve doesn’t know how to count to 3
You plagiarised the exact intro of the video from a medium article titled Firewatch’s Alternate Ending and Trivia Galore
I’m not sure if joking but for clarity I repurposed the script for this video into the article ☺️ they’re both mine!
