Hi, what would be required to setup a Tsunami2 in an Athearn ATHG82253 GP7 - Great Northern #611 Locomotive HO Scale locomotive. I have zero experience with DCC or sound, so I don't know what I need. Cheers
We have a few questions. Like what is needed to install or just make CV changes? Please contact our Support Department to have a conversation directly so we can ask our questions and answer any others you have: (970)259-0690 or support@soundtraxx.com. We are happy to help!
You get what you paid for . If one is interested in having as close to the prototype as possible locomotive, sound have to be part of the equation. In my case, when possible, I make sure that the factory installed decoder is a Tsunami2 or I buy the DCC ready model and I install a Tsunmi2.
Agreed, BLI sounds are not up to the same level of quality as Tsunami 2. They do however control the onboard smoke unit, which today you do not. I don't know many people willing to give up the smoke feature for better sound. Even though sound is one of my top priorities I too find it difficult to omit the smoke unit in favor of better sound. TCS has promised smoke control in the future. How about it SoundTraxx? Why should we have to choose between the best sound and smoke? We want both!
We value your feedback. I encourage you to submit this suggestion to the Feedback & Product Ideas page on our website: www.soundtraxx.com/feedback.php. The data submitted here is collected and used in product development. Thank you!

Thanks for the info...
Awesome product!
Are there only you and loksound that provide factory sound?
No, there are multiple suppliers of OEM sound decoders.
