I know it’s not meta but for some reason I have been getting the most kills with the 545 bp. It’s also my first wipe and I’m just hitting lvl 28 and it’s the ammo I find on the ground spawns but ya it’s been good to me. Sec up would have be m80 out of the dmrs hits hard

That's kinda dumb and interesting at the same time because it feels like RIP rounds drop people so much faster than quakemaker and I figured it was due to the fragmentation because the damage is pretty close. As a semi-casual player, I'm pretty grateful for this video. I hate having to stare at multiple excel spreadsheets full of numbers that I don't understand to see if the ammo I have is worth using or not, and this video is clear, to the point, and segmented so that I can skip the ammo's I don't use. Someone also explaining the meta is nice for once. For players like me, who want to casually enjoy the game and not grind/farm for specific ammo too much, a video discussing what ammo types are the best bang for your buck (reasonably cheap and available while still being effective) would be welcome.
Im actually using m61 alot for those longer ranges as u can craft it, expensive it may be but u dont have to worry about the pen on lvl 6 armour. I would use it sparingly, only sniping with bolt actions, maybe not dmr's, then ur shooting 90k every 20 round mag, but if thats what ur into 👉👉
Subbed. This is so helpful for 1-2 hour every other day player like me. Information from creators have sligshotted me ahead on my first wipe. I have alots of shooter exp so micro management is no big deal its the macro. Now that I have job and fam don't have as much time to play and this info is priceless!
The bigger issue with a lot of the small caliber AP rounds is u need alot to be effective something like M61 you only need like 40 rounds to be highly effective with it AP 6.3 or 7N31 needs like 4x that cause you chew through that stuff instantly with the guns it’s chambered in
the thing is, with the high pen low damage no one-shot-headshot potential rounds.. is that intended? or is that an oversight? because it's a pretty fucking big miscalculation.. for a game that sure values realism, not being able to headshot a human with a bullet consistently, is pretty bizarre.. maybe make it if youre penning a helmet, yeah, you have to hit them twice, but theres not reason a bullet hitting an un-armoured, or under-armoured head, shouldn't be the end of them..
It’s an oversight due to the new ballistics change this wipe which makes bullet damage decrease over distance / time + armor already reduces damage from bullets as they pass through in some cases
LPS got me through the SVDS punisher quest with ease, LPS is comparable to M80, I slammed LPS into 20-round mags and spam fired people down in close quarters. I wouldn't use it otherwise though.

Great video as always, highlighting the 762x39 and 762x51 metas this wipe. Really sad that 5.56 and 5.45 suck this wipe. I honestly think the game would be perfect right now if they kept everything the same from this wipe like inertia but just kept the recoil from last wipe. So much rng in recoil that there is such little skill to aiming. It forces you to play reactively instead of proactively when devs decide to add more horizontal recoil. Anyways, great work.

I don't agree with a lot of this list. I've been playing for 6 wipes. AP20 is hands down the best shotgun ammo in the game. If you can't hit your shots then i see why you'd want to use flecettes. S190 is hands down the best 5.7 ammo as well. Don't use anything else but s190. Ammo is the MOST important thing in the game. Don't use lesser ammo always use the best available you can get. M855 is the exact same as 5.45 BT ammo. Alot of these rounds are not meant to be one tap ammos. The pen ammo is meant to be center mass shredders. 762 us round are complete trash stop lying to people about this ammo, I sat there and let a guy unload on me with that trash ammo and I turned around and 2 tapped the guy with BP. PS ammo is the lowest id go. I will give you props for putting M80 right where is should be. I delete mega chads who are running m61 all the time with m80 rounds.
Just realized I unlocked ap 20 at jaegers. Buy the whole stock. 30 rounds. "Hmm." *load into factory, 8 ap-20s in, 20 flechettes in the pockets* Scav with Untar Armor spawns before me in the "underground" part. Eats one slug to the thorax. Two slugs to the thorax. 3 slugs to the thorax and died. Almost point blank, from the side. Thankfully the flechettes allowed me to kill two pmcs
I mean yes, it worked great for me during previous wipes as well. Point is, This was literally my only interaction with ap-20 this wipe. If I need 3 shots (and I will, because average aim x 45 fps isn't a recipe for success) I'd rather have cheaper ammo I don't care about spamming. 30 rounds per restock really puts me off. Budget wise, shotties are nice, but if I want to larp as a sniper, I'll get one / a DMR.

nice list, yeah I just run ASH, ammo is cheap AF, you one tap scavs in the chest too, can barter the gun for 70k with suppressor, fully modded costs like 150k, less than all other fully modded high cals
I would just pull down 7N40 down because you literally cannot get almost any of it and you've applied the same logic to other rounds, so why not this round? If I can get 200 of it in 1000 hours then it sounds like F tier even if it's the best ammo out there, since I can't use it at all. (I've put almost 1000 hours in this wipe and I have like 100 rounds of this).
7.62x54R PS being C tier is way too low, easily an A tier round with how easy it is to find. And can 1 tap the chest through T4 if youre up close and man the SVD has been wicked this wipe up close. And honestly can run through armor like you wouldnt believe

Great video besides your take on AP 20. Every single time I bring it out people eat it all day, then when I’m using pbs12b with full class 4 against a 153/ap20, ALWAYS get one tapped thorax. Ap20 is only good when an enemy pmc uses it. Edit: also got the first two hits on him to the chest (maybe I got desync or he had class 6)
IMO the AKM shooting BP almost outshines any other gun besides M62 or M61. It also cheaper too! This should always be the case if they want to keep Tarkov a Mil Sim. You do not want to get hit by .308 or 7.62.
I agree with you on almost all points. However, I would swap SP-5 and SP-6 and rate PAB-9 gs up a notch. Yes SP-6 has more recoil than SP-5 and destroys the VAL incredibly fast. However, the penetration of the SP-5 is pretty bad after the first few weeks in the wipe. PAB-9 gs is simply a better version of the SP-6 but also much more expensive. I would also downgrade the M62, simply because I think it's far too expensive for what it can do.
Completely forgot about Luger CCI 9mm. Ik it’s flesh damage is 70 which is less than quakemaker but it still shreds for so cheap (if you got traders unlocked). I find so many people won’t take it off raiders but you can sell it for a lot especially if you got the space to save up a lot and sell in bulk like a half ammo box sorta thing. It actually sells for a good amount. Ik it ain’t rip but I get happy seeing it on raiders and boss guards
Man, I hate BS this wipe. It used to be godly, now I have to shoot scavs in the head TWICE to down them. I feel it is so similar to igolnik because it just has no ability to one tap. 545 & 556 are such a bummer this wipe.
I buy .45 AP with SB193 together from peacekeeper, I don't get why SB193 got a penalty for availability while the .45AP didn't, I seem to have about the same amount in my stash
Ok so you put .45 ap next to m80 when it basicly has almost same stats but is fired via 600rpm no recoil beam machine, or 1100rpm brrrrrrrt vector, its basicly like having m80 rfb with 1100rpm and less recoil, its disgusting

Good tier list but I was hoping you'd include some more ammo in it, such as RIP slugs and magnum buckshot for shotguns. Also 45 acp rip ammo is disgusting. I know these are leg meta rounds but since you put 9mm rip I think it deserves a spot on the tier list.
Maybe so, but this is the problem with going off the in-game numbers. By this logic, which i followed too, AP-20 should be better than Flechette. Its got 6 more pen. But flechette does more total damage overall at 200 vs 164 for AP-20 but AP-20 does more armor damage compared to flechette as well. Why are we gushing over flechette so much if these numbers say AP-20 is better? Subsonic has 36 Pen while FMJ has 40. Subsonic does 2 more damage than FMJ, but that drop in pen is the difference when it comes to tier 4. Subsonic has to work a bit where FMJ just ignores it. When you get to T5 its even worse for Subsonic. US and PS 7.62 is the same. Sure the recoil reduction is nice but you're increasing time to kill for no reason because 'lol no recoil'. US has to work to pierce T3, if you get the drop on tier 4 it might get the job done but completely struggles vs T5. PS can work if you ambush T5. and has to work a little less harder than US to pen T4. Muzzle speed for US is halved as well compared to PS so at range is worse as well. Sorry for the long-winded comment but is the nature of these discussions
Yeah ap20 does have trouble going through armor when I’m using it. But I can’t even count the amount of fucking times I’ve had class 4 armor on and I’m full health and I’ve been fucking one tapped and they were using ap20
Ap-20 doesn’t one tap class 4 anyway unless it fragments it takes away why it used to be good and ap 6.3 which you have to craft which is a waste of ur time. It’s literally not worth crafting you should craft literally any other ammo. Sorry I know what I’m taking about
It’s pretty much PS ammo but has -30 recoil so you can beam and make budget builds super viable. It really only suffers at long range shots and vs high tier armor. Most people are using mmac armor or some tier 4 with no visor so you can Just beam face or magdump with little effort from the reduced recoil.
Mostly agree except on BS. Yea 5.45 is kinda overall soft esp 7n39 but unless there’s a bug BS is not failing to 1 tap head unless over extreme distance (check the ballistics page). Also, it can be had at level 26 which is a bit early for lvl 5 ammo.
I have people shoot me with BS in the head 4-5 times a week and I don’t die. Armor absorbs damage homie. When it goes through a helmet it usually won’t have enough damage to 1 tap

9mm pst - i use it while ratting on map f.e. yesterday i killed a guy with 2 tetriz, mk47 and some tier 4 armor with glock (i was level 13) so yeah it works well when you dont want to lose a lot of money 9mm ap 6.3 - i am more suprised than sad, i think it should have slightly better pen, using mpx or other 9mm smg is completly without any sense just because youll die faster from any meta rifle (untill you load some RIP ammo in your mags and spray chads in legs)
Just wanted to say that igolnik really is just crap, used it to kill rogues today, hs the rogue near the main bridge from the blue van, that dude survived, he had no helmet, tried killing 3 more rogues 2 of them tanked 2 hs, they did have helmets on tho but still a really bad round
Idk about putting 7.62x54R LPS in C tier. It’s basically M80 but with better damage and pen plus it’s super cheap. If you don’t like the mosin or SVD that’s one thing but the ammo itself is very good for the price.
AS VAL ammo is very good for spamming semi-auto. It basically have no recoil in this mode and you don't care about heat on semi. SP-5 for B and all over is for A, otherwise it is not worth it to shoot PBP clone from gun that costs 100k base and it works only on semi.

I would put RIP as S tier simply because it has 100% chance to fragment. I can 2-3 shot people in the legs whereas it takes me 6-7 with quakemaker.

Something to note that at long ranges M62 is significantly less accurate, you're better off using M80 at 150+ meters.

Recoil playing more emphasis on ammo choice is something I haven't experienced to be impactful, but I find this intriguing.
5.45 hasn’t been feeling great at all, I got a 9 hit count on someone with BS close range and they walked away feels the same way with 5.56.
I hit a guy 11 times and he killed me. Lol

Don't factor in, like a lot ? I don't see it in these charts. I mean, you don't shoot buckshot past 50m, which is most likely the same for a few ammo

It can't 1 tap through class 4 due to damage reduction when penning. It can one tap class 3 fairly often though

That’s fair. M62 kind of can shred class 5 believe it or not that’s why I put it so high and the -5 recoil is also nuts. Val ammo can go either way

Good tier list but I was hoping you'd include some more ammo in it, such as RIP slugs and magnum buckshot for shotguns. Also 45 acp rip ammo is disgusting. I know these are leg meta rounds but since you put 9mm rip I think it deserves a spot on the tier list.

Maybe so, but this is the problem with going off the in-game numbers.
By this logic, which i followed too, AP-20 should be better than Flechette. Its got 6 more pen. But flechette does more total damage overall at 200 vs 164 for AP-20 but AP-20 does more armor damage compared to flechette as well. Why are we gushing over flechette so much if these numbers say AP-20 is better?
Subsonic has 36 Pen while FMJ has 40. Subsonic does 2 more damage than FMJ, but that drop in pen is the difference when it comes to tier 4. Subsonic has to work a bit where FMJ just ignores it. When you get to T5 its even worse for Subsonic.
US and PS 7.62 is the same. Sure the recoil reduction is nice but you're increasing time to kill for no reason because 'lol no recoil'. US has to work to pierce T3, if you get the drop on tier 4 it might get the job done but completely struggles vs T5. PS can work if you ambush T5. and has to work a little less harder than US to pen T4. Muzzle speed for US is halved as well compared to PS so at range is worse as well.

how is US tier a?
It’s pretty much PS ammo but has -30 recoil so you can beam and make budget builds super viable. It really only suffers at long range shots and vs high tier armor. Most people are using mmac armor or some tier 4 with no visor so you can Just beam face or magdump with little effort from the reduced recoil.

Mostly agree except on BS. Yea 5.45 is kinda overall soft esp 7n39 but unless there’s a bug BS is not failing to 1 tap head unless over extreme distance (check the ballistics page). Also, it can be had at level 26 which is a bit early for lvl 5 ammo.
I have people shoot me with BS in the head 4-5 times a week and I don’t die. Armor absorbs damage homie. When it goes through a helmet it usually won’t have enough damage to 1 tap

9mm pst - i use it while ratting on map f.e. yesterday i killed a guy with 2 tetriz, mk47 and some tier 4 armor with glock (i was level 13) so yeah it works well when you dont want to lose a lot of money
9mm ap 6.3 - i am more suprised than sad, i think it should have slightly better pen, using mpx or other 9mm smg is completly without any sense just because youll die faster from any meta rifle (untill you load some RIP ammo in your mags and spray chads in legs)

Just wanted to say that igolnik really is just crap, used it to kill rogues today, hs the rogue near the main bridge from the blue van, that dude survived, he had no helmet, tried killing 3 more rogues 2 of them tanked 2 hs, they did have helmets on tho but still a really bad round

Idk about putting 7.62x54R LPS in C tier. It’s basically M80 but with better damage and pen plus it’s super cheap. If you don’t like the mosin or SVD that’s one thing but the ammo itself is very good for the price.

AS VAL ammo is very good for spamming semi-auto. It basically have no recoil in this mode and you don't care about heat on semi. SP-5 for B and all over is for A, otherwise it is not worth it to shoot PBP clone from gun that costs 100k base and it works only on semi.
