I wish you would have done a fourth with the flat blade since you obviously did better and better each passing. Great video though

Thanks for your comment and for watching. This was a fun video to do although using a flat blade for puzzle pieces is the way to go IMO. And using a flat blade requires practice!

The spiral blade seems to make the pieces sloppy.

Yes, the spiral blades cuts a much wider kerf than the flat blade I used here. Look carefully at the very beginning of the video and you'll see on the left, a much wider kerf cut from the spiral blade blade compared to the thinner kerf shown on the right side made by the flat blade.
Keep in mind, the main advantage of a spiral blade is that it will cut in all directions. In order to do that, the blade is twisted into a spiral when it made. This is why it cuts a much wider kerf.
Yes, the puzzle pieces cut using the spiral blade have a much sloppier fit.
Thanks for your comment and for watching.

I used 2 different blades. First, I used a flat blade that cut a narrow kerf and second, I used a spiral blade (that cuts a wider kerf). Using these 2 blades in that order is what I am calling "tandem cutting". Hopefully that makes sense.

You're an excellent teacher and have such a comfortable pace. Where did you find the background music, it's so much better than in most RUclips videos.

Hi Michael. Thanks for the compliment! Building my RUclips channel and sharing what I have learned is something I really love to do (I really hope that comes across in the videos.). I think I will continue basically forever.
In the past, others have paid me the same great compliment as you. Fun fact: our youngest daughter is a 3rd grade teacher, so I guess the apple doesn't fall from the tree!
Here's where I get the royalty free, background music: incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/music.html .
      Thanks again.

What type of saw or name of the saw you are using? Interesting video. Thank you.

I'm using a very inexpensive scroll saw sold by Harbor Freight Tools ( www.harborfreight.com/16-in-variable-speed-scroll-saw-62519.html ). I have changed the original blade holders on the saw to a universal blade holder that allows me to use both pin end and pinless blades ( ruclips.net/video/W83TllFnMgs/видео.html ).
I have a playlist of my other videos involving the scroll saw. Here's the link: ruclips.net/p/PLGCBwUeR2BD0ZFcTdtcldItQ5UtxnmOZi .

Thanks Rita. Yes, the 2nd and 3rd set were too loose. Interesting experiment though. Thanks for your comment and for watching.
