Hey everyone, Bryan here. I'm heading back to Puerto Rico in a few months. Tell me where to find your favorite Puerto Rican dishes on the island.
La lechonera .
Hey! You should visit HUMACAO (east part of the island) and try “Granitos”
The Joyuda neighborhood in the coastal town of Cabo Rojo has some quaint seafood restaurants right on the shore. The Red Flamboyan in the surfing town of Rincón is also pretty good.
Just want to say, I'm looking forward to whatever delicious food you bring back.
You need to come to the southeast! Try brazo gitanos from Franco and from Ricomini in Mayaguez, helado chino (Chinese ice cream) made with local tropical fruits at Rex Cream, the natural juice piraguas (shaved ice snowcones) on the road to El Combate in the Boquerón area of Cabo Rojo.
Thank you for showcasing our rich culture of food and hospitality. Cheers from Brooklyn, NY 🇵🇷
My pleasure. I'm in love with Puerto Rico.

I am from Puerto Rico and this was a great piece. I can recommend two things: 1. Do a segment about the roasted pig area in Guavate. 2. Do a fine dining piece highlighting some of the fancier eating places that make typical PR food but with a fancier take (La Casita de Miramar, Wilo Bennet)
Thanks for the recommendations. We visited Lechonera Angelito's Place and shot lechon there. Then, off the clock, I went to Celeste (@celeste.pdt) and it was absolutely amazing. One of the best meals I've had in the last 5 years.

I'm seeing a lot of people thinking all puerto rican food is fried. Its not they are eating street food. Regular puerto rican food is different.
I agree. This is a very small sample of the incredible variety of food available on the island--too much for one video. More to come in the future.
Yes Sir you are 💯% CORRECT
My personal favorite street food there is the cuajito, which is stewed chitterlings. Caldo pescado is great too when you need a boost after too many medallas
I told my strict eating brother law that even the bottled water was fried
I love everything about PR. The people, the music, the culture, the vibe, and of course the FOOD! Now I have some new places to seek out next time I visit! 😀
I love it too!
Me too I'm in love with PR
One of my ex's is a New Yorican - half Puerto Rican half English (mom was from England).
Anyway, one of the reasons we stayed together so long was the Puerto Rican dishes both he and his sister made! Going to Puerto Rico is on my bucket list!
Everyone should get to Pinones at least once! Great video!
Puerto Rico has the best cuisine. Everything look delicious, yummy.
This video made me cry 😢 I really miss Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 Thank you so much. Your video was so well organized! I felt as if it was made for me specifically. By the way I love The Test Kitchen 💗
Thank you for the nice words. I loved visiting the island and making the video.

I have really enjoyed Bryan's "On the Road" episodes, and this one might be the best - thanks!
I was scrolling and this video caught my attention, because i saw a familiar face, and is la comay kiosk, which is my mom sister, ( my aunt) from her father side. 3:18 WHEN I SAW HER, MY Eyes Got WATERY IN TEARS, BECAUSE MY MOM PASS AWAY, and I don't see my auntie (LUZ) SINCE 2014,that i came to usa, BUT THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO OF MY ROOTS AND A LITTLE PART OF MY FAMILY.
They are many restaurants in the mountains that serve delicious food.
Awesome episode! This food looks amazing
Please make your way to the south- Ponce & west- Rincon, Cabo Rojo, and Boqueron as they offer some wonderful food & views.
Next time!
Ha! Ponce 😂 those weirdos can't cook to save their life
Awesome job Bryan
Love Puerto Rico and the food
This makes me so happy. Thank you for visiting PR
!
I will be back.
Amazing, love it!!!
Looking forward to seeing your recipes for the dishes presented.
Man, just watching this is making me hungry. So much great food. I’m about to book a flight 😆. I’ve enjoyed those foods in PR. Always top-notch!
✌️😎
We need longer videos! This felt like just a taste (no pun intended)
I have fallen in love with Puerto Rico I’ve been 3 times in the last 3 months 😂 so imagine 🔥 🏝️
Hey Bryan, I'm glad you've been able to try some of the authentic local food. Something that's also part of our food culture and very much beloved is the puerto rican style Chinese food. It's something you won't find in many places in the world and it's delicious. I recommend Confianza China and Prosperidad China. You won't regret it.
Thank you for the recommendation.
Thank you for this video, it’s interesting to Ostend to what ingredients are used and how things are cooked
Delicious Cuisine
I crave yum yum❤🇵🇷
I hope you tried Mofongo…and if you’re really lucky, visit the island with someone who had family there because the food we have in our homes is quite different from the street fare you find at the kiosks and seaside restaurants
I was fortunate enough to dine in several peoples' homes. Fantastic.
ON THE ROAD haha love it
You ate all my favorites!
Delicious fried street food in Puerto Rico is good, the best 👍
Wow those crabs!! Makes me want to visit PR.
La comay, la mejor ❤❤❤❤❤❤. Como los extraño
Need to get some of those alcapurrias into my bod STAT! especially the ones from Pura Pesca. and the red bean crab rice from La Comay !
I haven't had one in years!
Everything is awesome
FINALLY FINALLY!!! Stop doing the same tacos and carnitas and do alcapurrias and bacalaitos and the hard to make dessert FLANCOCHO!!! Bravo!!!!
agreed! this was so. good.
I wish my Spanglish was a little more advanced than just the 'dirty words,' y ¡Hola¡ Love the food!
The beautiful beaches of Cabo Rojo qnd seafood in Joyuda
Don't forget to try the BBQ. There's a place just before Luquillo that I believe is called Verde on the right side of Hwy 3 before you hit town coming from San Juan. And, of course, the kiosks in Luquillo are try. Also, have some Mofongo. Enjoy!
Los kiosko of Luquillo Beach have many spectacular fried & sea foods, plus the beer ?& COCO's a ice cold. BUEN PROVECHO.
You gotta go to El Patriota, in Ponce. The sangria is legendary, and the food tends to be more rural (roasted pig) than coastal (alcapurrias).
Thanks for showing more positive sides of our Island. WEPA!!! 🇵🇷

I'm so hungry now! I need arroz con jueyes now, haha.
Green Chili is the balm!
You have to check the west side of Puerto Rico. In Cabo Rojo on carr 307 a spot called Gusaby Cafe. Close to the best beach in Puerto Rico. Their food is top tier and the people are really nice. Check it out!
Hi Bryan
Try coastal or near coastal towns like Añasco, Rincón and Yabucoa. And you must try Guavate which has a route famous for roast pig or La Rita del Lechonera. Also as I do go and forget about diet.
The empanadas from Kaplash at Rincon are so delish! Always piping hot
You should visit the northwest coast, Lares for their lechón a la vara
I very much miss PR love were i come from! Lol!
Here's a suggestion. You should showcase Puerto Rican foods that are fresh and cooked without frying and experience the pastries and beverages Puerto Rico, has to offer.
Pasteles y alcapurias de yuca son mis favoritas, se me hace la Boca agua, mmmmmm😋😋😋😋😋
Missed Puerto rico
I went in 1990. They had a lot of pigs over the fire. The meat you get is the best. They had loads off the highway going to San Juan. As well as fish. Thank you for introducing me to a couple of new things
The food in Puerto Rico was fabulous!
The codfish fritters made at home are small round and delicious.
I need that the best 😋
Hope you made it to Dorado
The best ice cream of all different flavors you probably wouldn't imagine are in HELADERÍA LARES in the historic city of Lares.
This is making me nostalgic and home sick
Great video about our street food that is so delicious just a tip always drop 10 pounds before coming to make space to be able to eat everything things i recomend to eat well tembleque arroz con dulce la sangria el brazo gitano las chuletas can can los pinchos los hot dogs reforzaos las tripletas el tres leches los oastelillos de guayaba and in Humacao where i live look for las rellenas and los granos they are delicious also los gelattos then the frappes in naguabo
The crabs of the caribbean are wandering around all day long with the words "Where is my other arm?" haunting them.
You've got to go to Guavate. There you'll find the best roasted pork you will ever have.
Same
La mejor comida
I went to the county fair here in the states and paid $10 for an elephant ear with no taste. There in Puerto Rico you pay couple of bucks for a very very tasty bacalaito. No problem.
😂😂😂
I wonder how the land crab compares to dungeness or king like I've had as a Seattle person.
In my opinion, it's more "meaty" in flavor, and has less of that typical seawater sweetness that you get from other crab varietals. It's absolutely delicious and unique. Whenever I have the option for land crab in PR, I always get it.
Pastelillos at Rest. El Horizonte in Yabucoa
Oh mercy, friend you missed out on what the folks from the Island call " the pork highway." It's an absolute must for anyone that visits the Island. It's in the town of Guavate. Roasted pork and every savory side dish you could think of. Go back and don't miss out. You won't be disappointed.
ruclips.net/video/wv4YJPrpBpA/видео.htmlsi=OJOfTH3kyOWIOuQA
So this was the fried. Do you have videos on the stews and roasts?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I legit thought she was Alex Guarnaschelli! The resemblance is uncanny!
Hahaha! I never put that together, but now that you mention it...
My first stop after landing on the island.
Go south!
❤❤❤
Land crab!?!?
Yikes! What the heck is that? A giant spider? Do I need to take a trip to PR to try something like that ?
Yes, take the trip, eat the crab, make your mouth happy.
Im hungry 😅
I am too lazy and old to cook these delicious delicacies and I am drooling. I will be going to PR on a cruise and don’t have much time the ship leaves at 3. Can anyone tell me where I can find this authentic food close the San Juan dock. Thank you
Watched
Daniel Reyes so damn handsome 🥰 and he’s food also look amazing! I love mi isla Bella ❤
Tengo hambre
PR'cans don't call those empanadas, we call them pastelillos.
Empanadillas.
Se me olvido El mavi,mmmmmm😉
Very nice, but you haven't even scratched the surface!
I agree. There's lots to eat and explore in Puerto Rico. Stay tuned for future videos.
Hot damn everything is fried in Puerto Rico, I’m jealous🥖
Welllll.....not everything.
👍🏻
I love seeing how afro Puerto Rico are getting their light often time they are ignored they make a borderline half island population
That goes for most countries though like Brazil racism still exists mostly from the white Puerto Ricans whom don’t have one brown person in their family 😂
❤️😋🇵🇷 ❤️😋🇵🇷
Estos turistas tiene que salir del área metro y llevar al área sur
You just need Pasteles and Mofongo now...
Omg pastel en hoja it’s delicious alcapurrias also delicious 👌🍲sancocho amazing 🤩 you Aldi have to try food from Peru 🇵🇪 10/10 and my favorite 😍 food is from Ecuador 🇪🇨 ❤😍👌spectacular and also food 🥘 from Spain 🇪🇸 omg the quality there of shrimp 🍤 seafood fish meat everything there is another level ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤even icecream croissant 🥐 desserts 🍮
Mima looks like Alex Guarnaschelli
❤❤❤🇵🇷
kiosko la comay my family rafael and luz maria
These ladies is from Santo Domingo all Dominican
Not all of them
Im guessing in the north they eat tons of crabs in the south they dont
Looking like all food in Puerto Rico is deep fried. What is the main life longevity on that island? 😳
What a stupid comment
It's definitely not all fried. This is just a small sampling of what you can find. Such a wide variety.
Not at all. Rest assured, what they presented is what my family and I eat maybe once a year or maybe a cheeky cheat day lol
Those are just popular during a beach days and they’re also around popular tourist spots. Not at all representative of an average PR meal
As it says in the title, this is exclusively some of our FRIED STREET FOOD. This is NOT our average daily food. This is street food. This is the kind of the food we eat when we go to the beach, when we go to chinchorreo, etc. Our regular food is certainly not all fried and not limited to what is pictured here either 🙄🤦🏻♀️
Enjoy the food of your fellow Americans from the Isle of Puerto Rico.
We don't need the 2nd class American citizenship you referred too in the comments! .PR needs Independence and liberation from USA colonialism!
Sorrullos y rellenos
Alex Guarnaschelli is that you?
The kingdom of the highest cholesterol level
Brutal pronunciation. If this was not a video, I would have no idea what they were talking about as a Puerto Rican myself.
Puerto Rican food is bomb, but I'm not a fan of Caribbean avocado. It's different than Haas, which is what I'm accustomed to. That said, no one makes rice like them Caribeños: Cubanos, Dominicanos y Boricuas.
Those avocados are huge 😂
Yup and they taste different. Just not used to it. @@patsnationok1373
@@patsnationok1373yes avocados here in Puerto Rico and huge and in my opinion they’re more tasty.
What is this? Milk Street?
You make no sense go worry about your wife cheating on you with her trainer 😂😂
