  • Lumbini is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi District of Lumbini Province in Nepal. It is the place where, according to Buddhist tradition, Queen Mahamayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama.
Kapilavastu was an ancient city which was the capital of the clan of the Shakyas in Ancient India. King Suddhodana and Queen Maya are believed to have lived at Kapilavastu, as did their son Prince Siddhartha Gautama until he left the palace at the age of 29.
